PortFever Posted March 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Not something you see (or hear) every day! Recorded earlier this afternoon by the Port Everglades Webcam. David. www.portfever.com

Iamcruzin Posted March 29, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2011 I noticed they had M.U.T.S playing. Who would sit in a thunderstorm and watch a movie. I guess we can call in Movies Under The Storm. :D
RickEk Posted March 29, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Coolness abounds... I love how she "materializes" in the beginning. :)

I love how she "materializes" in the beginning. :) Me too...she looks like a ghostly Pirate ship appearing from out of nowhere. OPPS...too slow to beat Toto. :o

rdsqrl Posted March 29, 2011 #9 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Loved it -- two of my favourite sounds: ship's horn and thunder! The beginning was spooky cool. Thanks so much for posting this.

lovingretirement Posted March 29, 2011 #11 Share Posted March 29, 2011 We have friends on that cruise. I'm sure that wasn't an exciting way to begin a cruise, but it beats being left at home.:D
ssbeagle Posted March 29, 2011 #12 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Wow! First you don't see it then you do like a ghost ship. She sure looked close to shore. It's a shame that the people on board had such nasty weather for what is a real nice sail-away usually. The way MUTS showed up almost looked like something was wrong on top. KruzPrincess Posted March 29, 2011 #14 Share Posted March 29, 2011 I love how she materializes. I thought 'ghost ship', too, especially with the first horn. Spooky. Thanks for posting.
fredman Posted March 29, 2011 #15 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Not so nice for sail-away, but kind of neat. I love thunderstorms and have been waiting for a big one every time we cruise and haven't hit one yet! Sitting in a Balcony Stateroom or an Ocean view all cozy, would be so cool to watch the lightening and hear the thunder from the safety of your room! :D So cool of a video with the Grand coming into view out of the white-out of the sheets of rain! treesah Posted March 29, 2011 #16 Share Posted March 29, 2011 That was a "juicy" thunderstorm. I love them but we seldom get them in So Calif. I sure enjoy them when we're sailing and the skies open up. Thanks for posting. Do you live in those high rise condos?
snoodqueen Posted March 29, 2011 #17 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Fantastic - very creepy! It was glorious and sunny when we sailed out on her last November but this would have been very cool - love a storm!
UpcountryTravelers Posted March 29, 2011 #18 Share Posted March 29, 2011 It was raining when we sailed from Port Everglades on the Grand this January. But not a thunderstorm. Great video - that's a keeper.
PortFever Posted March 29, 2011 Author #19 Share Posted March 29, 2011 ... Do you live in those high rise condos? Unfortunately, I don't live there but the Port Everglades Webcam used to make this video is owned and operated from one of those buildings. I live in NorCal and manage archiving plus other aspects of the webcam operation. Glad so many of you liked this recording which was a speculative "try it and see" effort. David. Nylsor Posted March 29, 2011 #22 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Aah - I loved this video. Not because of the thunderstorm but because I could see the balcony where we spent many happy times on our recent cruise on the Grand. Happy ship - great cruise. Can't wait to go on her again. lovelyjubbly Posted March 29, 2011 #23 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Couldn't see anyone on their balcony  Great video, glad our sailaways a few weeks ago weren't anything like that.
michigan tim Posted March 29, 2011 #24 Share Posted March 29, 2011 PortFever, could you please explain some of the techical stuff going on there? Camera, who operates it. Remote access? Etc... FWIW, I'd love a sailaway like that! Closest we ever came was some drizzly showers when sailing out of New Orleans, which was just boring.
MTJSR Posted March 29, 2011 #25 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Great video of one of my favorite ships. I will bet sky walkers was stuffed to the gills for sail away viewing:eek:
