"LIVE" from Allure of the Seas / May 22, 2011

NO HALF & HALF ... I'll start mutiny :D. Did you like the Allure better than the Oasis? Why?

I loved the 3D Movies, and the Britto Artwork around the Ship. . . I also love the New Rita's Cantina, and Hot Dog stand.

The Kiosks are cool also. . .Get a copy of your room charges, and get a copy of your weekly schedule (with the dates and times you are signed up for a show)

As always.........I commend your work..........you are truly a natural at writing documentaries.

So..............did you feel overwhelmed or lost in the crowd with soooo many people on board? I cannot imagine how it could not be over crowded at venues.

We enjoy Freedom of the Seas.......and are leary of moving up to the big ships.

Any words of advice

Thanks again

Safe travels.

Radio, do you like Celebrity? I just booked DH and I for the Reflection 3 day inaugural cruise on December 5, 2012 out of Miami. We did the Solstice and loved the ship. Come on board :).

Thanks cruzlover for the nice comments. . . . It turned out that Freedom was a no - go, so I will be going on a 9 Night Cruise from my favorite port. . . Baltimore (Because I live on 15 min away) :)

We will be going to Saint John, and I can't wait to go there. My Mom and Dad will also be sailing !

The crowds are where you will find them on any ship. . .Elevators before dinner or after a show, the Windjammer on Embarkation Day and late breakfast, and sunny days on the pool deck.

RCI does a great job with crowd control though. . .I was very pleased.

15 minutes away from the Port of Baltimore....we're practically neighbors! Another great review - thanks for all the info and the pics. I'll definitely be reviewing this again and again in preparation for my February Allure cruise :p

just a quick comment on your last photo (that i think has been made before):

The artist obviously made the effort to accurately depict an Oasis class ship. Makes me wonder where the inspiration for the other, obviously RCCL-style ship (with 7 balcony decks) came from... possibly a "slip" of Project Sunshine???

Thank you, Radio, I loved your posts. And thank you for the good info and pictures of the Auto Train. My DH booked it today to get up to D.C. in July. Now I won't worry about him driving alone for two days and he will arrive rested and ready to vacation. The cost (for one person) was about $220 more than driving and staying in a hotel on the road one night. I will fly up to join him a week later, so we can take turns driving home. You did a very good deed by posting that Auto Train info :)

This point can't be stressed enough; even though the Allure is larger then the "smaller" Freedom and Voyager classes, it never seemed as crowded because of the sheer size and up-to-date design. There is plenty of space for all and you will have no problem finding a deck chair on sea days at the various pools.

I saw these pictures yesterday and I just can't get them out of my head! We sailed on Oasis over Thanksgiving 2010, and we didn't see ANYTHING in the way of crowding like this! I am wondering if this is common on the Oasis class ships and we just had an odd bunch with us, or if the crowds on radio's cruise was the exception?

Maybe everyone was in the pool because it was so hot, and the November temps weren't as uncomfortable? I'd love to hear Radio and other cruiser's thoughts! We're going again in early November this year (on Allure this time) and hanging out by a pool that crowded does not sound like fun!

Negrilbride, I sailed Allure in Jan. The ship was at capacity, 5400; but we were always able to find lounge chairs by the pools. I was with a group of 20, and we had at least eight that hung out by the pools. They never complained about overcrowding or no loungers.

Vanessa - we must have been at the pool at different times ;) On sea days I found it difficult to find a chair by the pool so I could watch the kids while they swam. I guess our first sea day wasn't as bad as it was still kinda cold, but as we warmed up the pools were crazy busy!

Deck 11, aft, there's a public balcony that overlooks the aqua theater. I have seen pictures of the balcony, but the deck plan shows a spiral staircase on this balcony Others on this board have said it's a staircase that's just for staff. If you happen to be out there, I'd love a picture of the staircase.

Sorrento's offers "build your own pizza". If you happen to be there, I'd like to see pictures of the toppings they offer, if they are on display. If you can get a shot of a written list of the toppings offered that would be helpful too.

The Wipeout Cafe offers a taco/nacho bar. I haven't seen a decent picture of it.

Obviously, I can live without these. But if you are in the mood/area, I'd appreciate these photos more than is probably heathy.

Have a great week!

No worries. . . I should be able to get all of them. . .You have me scratching my head about the "Spiral Starcase" The only 2 I know of is in the Casino(Deck 4), and Concierge Lounge (Deck 11)

Any luck getting these photos? If not, no worries, and if I missed them somewhere in these 37 pages, I apologize - it's a lot to sort through!

This was on an extremely hot day (96F?). . . The passengers I talked too even said the water was warm, and needed to be cooler. All the pools are freshwater, but it just didn't seem like the place I wanted to be on a sweltering hot day. . .

I have cruised in the Caribbean in November, and I don't remember it being that hot !

Radio, did you find that the Solarium pool was just as crowded this day, or did you not happen to check?
