Platinum self assist debarkation

I have searched this question but not really found a clear answer. I know if you put your luggage out that you get zone 1 and you go somewhere to wait.

What about self assist? Do you have a special place to go and wait? Someone said they call platinum first but I don't remember ever hearing them call platinum, just decks.

Our first platinum cruise is next week, this is one perk that I hope they have. :D

you will get a letter in your stateroom, the night before, where and when to meet. it is great!

you will need to have your platinum card with you to gain entrance to the area.

Yep, if you're platinum you'll get a letter telling you where platinum passengers can wait so that they get priority debark off the ship. The only thing faster than this is doing self assist (taking your own luggage off). Now that our kids are older, we do this as it gets us off the ship super fast and we are in the car, driving home before most people have gotten their luggage. We have a long drive home so this is really a big deal to us.

Not necessarily .. we had several hundred extra people who had asked at the desk for early disembarkation because they said they had early flights.. plus of course the suites are not platinum .. so there are up to 3 groups all together on some ships.

If its a early time, its better and not so crowded. If its like 8 am like on Ecstasy .. it will take forever.

Plus not only did we have way over 300 waiting in a lounge .. they took them last in, first out, whoever was closest to the door or overflowed outside went down the elevators first, one deck, then they made everyone wait behind a locked door until all 300 or 400 people made it down one deck, and then unlocked the door thru the art area.. it was a mess.

Some times this goes better than others, my last two disembarkations on ectasy both have been bad.

Platinum debarkation on Legend a few weeks ago was awful. I let them take my bags. We met in a small room which got crowded fast and waited until all the self debarkers left the ship. Didn't get off until 9:45am.

Can I let them take my bags, tell them I have an early flight and get off sooner?

They usually want to see proof of your early flight. If you have proof, then yes, they'll give you zone 1 or 2, and you'll get off fairly early, ie: right after the "carry my own bags mob". We're Milestone, and always get zone 1. On our last two "Dream" cruises, disembarkation was VERY EASY for the "Platinum/Milestone" crowd.

We will be on the Legend. Were the people with luggage in the same room with people without luggage? I thought the people with luggage get off before the people without luggage.

On the Miracle last week they told us platinums by letter to go to the sports bar for priority debarkation but only if we were self assist.

The group coordinator picked us up and escorted us off the ship. Worked out very well.

Thanks! I hope it works that way on the Legend.

We had the same experience in May on the Paradise, just a few of us waited for a few minutes in the library and were escorted off and right thru customs in minutes, no questions asked. We were off the ship and in the car earlier than ever!

On the Glory earlier this month we got a letter in our cabin (we are platinum) telling us where to meet and what time for: 1) self-assist and 2) if we have checked our bags. Time was about 30 minutes later for the latter.

Yes, platinum self-assist will go first, then the rest of self-assist people.

Have fun!

the letter had two different locations for self assist and not self assist VIP.

I had one on Triumph, I was off by 7:00 am .. and my roomie was to the NO airport by 7:20 am .. earlier time before everyone else has finished breakfast, are the best, only a few dozen waiting that early, so we were OFF fast.

its the late times like on 8 am arrival for Ecstasy that to me the mess happens. by 8 am everyone is ancy to get off and jumping the line.

Last year on the Triumph we decided to skip breakfast so we could be ready to go when we were called. We will skip breakfast on the Legend too, we have a much longer drive home from Tampa. It is quicker to just go to a drive thru and eat in the car.

several hundred carrying their own bags off??????

Oh yes... we have about 150 in VIP self assist alone on the Triumph last week.

Self assist is VERY popular!!!! (actually more popular than Carnival was prepared for, I think)

Not sure every ship out of Miami does this but the last couple of times we sailed from Miami on the Liberty and the Glory....

they took our luggage with the number one tags on it and still debarked us as VIP self assist....WITHOUT HAVING TO CARRY OFF OUR BAGS....LOVED IT!!

The bags were waiting for us....and we were literally the first through Customs!
