Southbound Posted January 21, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2012 What a neat photo!! She looks as if she's gliding on a sheet of glass. Thanks for posting it. :)
CruiserBruce Posted January 21, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2012 It is a great pic. For everyone's reference, the pier/terminal is to the left of the pic. The gray square thing right at the stern of the ship is the Midway. The pink building above the gray square thing is the Embassy Suites, which is 5-6 blocks from the pier. The other two buildings are hotels that are part of the Convention Center, which are 3 or 4 blocks past the Embassy Suites.

Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted January 21, 2012 #10 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Great photo Nobby :) But then I have always been a fan of your photos. Those lucky Statendam cruisers are in for a surprise, Joel Mason will be on board performing for the first half of their cruise :D

The two very large hotels directly behind Statendam are the Hyatt Regency Hotel and the two smaller shiny building to the right are the Marriott and both are the convention center hotels as pointed out. Just to the right of the Marriott you can see the "sails" of the convention center. Nobby

nobbync Posted January 21, 2012 Author #14 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Here's a couple more of the Statendam yesterday as it is backing out and turning around. And this last one is of the Carnival Spirit still waiting to depart. Statendam left a few minutes early but Spirit blew it's horns a couple times and then did not leave so I went home. PathfinderEss Posted January 22, 2012 #15 Share Posted January 22, 2012 Wow nobbync fabulous photo, but I'm with Lisa, all your photo's are wonderful. Thanks for taking them and posting them. I watched the Statendam leave yesterday from the webcam but I love your shot of the ship better.
Globaliser Posted January 22, 2012 #16 Share Posted January 22, 2012 Great photos - thank you! It somehow makes it all seem so much more real now, and so much closer. And she's the ship on which I had my best cruise ever, so I'm fond of her for that reason too.
Edward John Smith Posted January 22, 2012 #17 Share Posted January 22, 2012 We just spent 28 wonderful days on the Statendam Nov25-Dec23, San Diego to Ft Lauderdale and back. She's a beautiful, classic cruise liner and immaculately kept although she does have a few, well-documented issues with plumbing and air-conditioning and yes, we experienced both! Mind you, the staff onboard went out of their way to resolve the problems. We'll cruise on her again in a heartbeat!
madera1 Posted January 22, 2012 #18 Share Posted January 22, 2012 Great photos. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait until we get to see the ship first hand March 2.
