DeepFreeze63 Posted April 27, 2012 #79 Share Posted April 27, 2012 TC2 - Thanks for your posts; we enjoy them very much. DW and I got a great chuckle from the post on Canyon Ranch prices. On our 2011 TA, DW needed medical assistance for a respiratory problem. The Doctor was great but expensive. We remarked today that maybe the Canyon Ranch "Ageless Oxygen Boost ($179)" was the treatment we should have used! Good sailing.

commodore2010 Posted April 27, 2012 #83 Share Posted April 27, 2012 Travelcat2, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. This is the best thread I have ever seen. I am on the Voyager in a couple months and reading these menus just makes it so exciting and looking forward to the great food and wonderful staff. Thanks again as I know it is a lot of work typing those menus. We ALL appreciate it. BTW: I never eat lunch in CR, but looking at the menus, I will this time. DaveFr Posted April 27, 2012 #84 Share Posted April 27, 2012 Warm Guanaja Chocolate Souffle with vanilla bean sauce Savarin w/Caribbean Rum, mousseline cream and fresh fruits (Note: I have no idea what those last two items are. Where do they come up with these names??? TC, FYI, Guanaja is the name of a type of bittersweet chocolate made by Valrhona. A savarin is a French yeast cake made in a ring mold and, in this case, soaked in rum. The names on the menu are perfectly descriptive. :)
Travel2Learn Posted April 28, 2012 #85 Share Posted April 28, 2012 Jackie, thank you for posting. However I can only read this thread when not hungry. The menus sound so good! A whole roasted wild boar? That would be a site to see. Was it presented for viewing? A quick question...has Wente chardonnay returned to the wine menu?
Travelcat2 Posted April 28, 2012 Author #86 Share Posted April 28, 2012 commodore2010: Happy to hear that you are enjoying the menu's! Most of the time the items on the lunch buffet in La Veranda are the same as the entrees in Compass Rose. We generally have lunch in La Veranda in order to have smaller portions of many things. While I am not rating this cruise on this thread, the staff will meet and probably exceed your expectations. They are wonderful people who want to do whatever they can to make your cruise perfect:-) DaveFr: Thank you for the explanation. Glad that the menu is descriptive to you as it is a bit challenging for me. Linda: Have not seen Wente Chardonnay on the menu. Will check the premium wine list a bit later. We are in Corfu and are looking forward to our half-day excursion. Looks like a lovely place. Weather remains in the low to mid 70's with full sun, clear skies and calm seas. Menus when we get back. Maracamama Posted April 28, 2012 #87 Share Posted April 28, 2012 TC, You are such a darling to take the time to post all this info. Brava! We are also on the Voyager now until Rome. Must add to all of your hard work that the food descriptions are lovely, impressive, even. The portions, quality, and taste are, for the most part, crap. The food on Regent (and a bit on SS, too) is just going downhill faster and faster. Cost cutting measure are evident to anyone who has sailed with them before. I would say the food is fair, edible, passing. No more WHOA!! FOOD PORN moments, LOL. Those can still be had in Sigs and Prime, though. I wish there was no need for specialty restaurants on these ships. If only the food in CR rivaled the specialties every night... sigh... the good old days. Don't even get me going about the wine pours. Or the baked (shall I say defrosted) goods? I know why it is happening, and I know I am very lucky to have such a thing to complain about. But I am a foodie, and the offerings are disappointing at virtually every meal. We have been eating off the ship at every opportunity. It is Greece, after all, then Italy. So not all bad. Could be in Ghana. Martha
Travelcat2 Posted April 28, 2012 Author #88 Share Posted April 28, 2012 While I respect Martha's point of view, her view is not that of most passengers I have spoken with on the Voyager (which includes our group of 21 from Cappadocia). Food is subjective. Many repeat Regent customers notice a big difference from a few years (months) ago to now. However, passengers new to Regent are not making comparisons. . . . they are just enjoying the food offerings. I do have some comments regarding food but really do not want to get this thread off topic too much. So, onward....... Travelcat2 Posted April 28, 2012 Author #91 Share Posted April 28, 2012 thank you so much for the time you are taking on this post. so many of us are obviously enjoying it as posters or readers. you mentioned that some of the cr lunch main courses are available at la verandah . I know it is impossible to be in two places at once but can you please comment on the difference between the two main lunch venues are on any given day? look forward to your post in ths, Amanda I'll give it a try tomorrow when we, once again, made the decision to stay on board to enjoy the ship. We receive "preview" menu's early in the morning for Compass Rose (lunch and dinner -- they never give me the dessert menu:confused:). I'll take the menu with us to La Veranda and note differences. It should be interesting. Tonight (late) or early tomorrow morning I'll print the long awaited Bar menu which is both a drink menu and a menu of included alcohol and the cost for the few items that are not included. This has been fun and easier than most of my "live" postings. We are now half way through our first cruise and beginning to think about the one that begins May 3rd. Right now we are visiting ports that will be repeated so it's easy to take "sea days" and stay on the ship. One quick comment about Corfu. . . . . it's beautiful. The weather is close to 80F -- calm seas, blue skies. The Seabourn Pride is docked next to us. She really looks tiny next to the Voyager. A little too small for our tastes but I hear she is a lovely ship. Tonight is the Seven Seas Society Event. After you complete your first cruise you become a member of the Seven Seas Society. Once per cruise they have an event with cocktails (like we really need more to drink:-) and caviar. The big draw for us is the caviar. It's something to look forward to on future Regent cruises. Tomorrow, Sunday, caviar is served with breakfast in both La Veranda and Compass Rose. Champagne is also available (no charge, of course). It is possible that I'll just have some caviar, eggs and a couple of mimosas and go back to sleep. Definitely enjoying this cruise:D
Rare RachelG Posted April 28, 2012 #92 Share Posted April 28, 2012 Enjoying your posts, TC. Very nice! But I should not read when I am hungry. Travelcat2 Posted April 28, 2012 Author #93 Share Posted April 28, 2012 So........ I have the bar menu in front of me and left my reading glasses upstairs. Also have had several glasses of wine and port. However, I'll give it my best effort. First...... tonight's entertainment: 9:30: Regent Proudly Presents George Sakelfariou "The All New Show. Once again join 'George Sakelfariou' who has been acclaimed as pure "Guitar Greatness" by The Globe and Mail of Toronto, George once again will delight with sounds that can only come from an internationally recognized first class performer. With a flavorful mix of contemporary to Spanish masterpieces this evening's final performance will delight. (Constellation Theater) 10:30 - 11:15 p.m. Cabaret Showtime. "Come Fly with me' with vocalist Holly Holcome. Join Regent Singer Holly up-close and personal as she presents a selectgion of melodies to take you into the night to the intimate setting of the Horizon Lounge. Holly will take you on a musical journey of those most loved melodies. Take to the dance floor or enjoy a treat from the bar and the company of fellow guests as the beautiful voice and bubbley personality of Holly llights up the room. Accompanied lby the Regent Signature Orchestra. Again, my apologies for no dessert menu in CR. When you are dining in CR at night and reach the point of the dessert, you may identify with the fact that writing down the menu is not a top priority. May have to post a few dessert menus next week to make up for it. Next...... the long awaited bar menu.

I read it the same way you did but went back and realized I was misunderstanding her meaning. I went back and retread, Elsie, and you are correct. I misread too. Believe me though, anything served on board ship on regent is vastly superior to what my son has been eating. He says he is "west sick" not homesick. charltonkerry Posted April 28, 2012 #99 Share Posted April 28, 2012 The North American beers are they all lager types or is there one that might be similar to a British bitter? Regards Kerry and Marion (whose like a lager)
Rare RachelG Posted April 28, 2012 #100 Share Posted April 28, 2012 The beers listed are those that are always available; however, they do bring other local beers on from time to time when in port. On our cruise that included ireland, they had several local brews available as well as hard cider that I did enjoy ( not a beer fan). So it depends where you are cruising. All beers are from a bottle, none on tap.
