Interesting 250 Point Latitudes Perks from Survey

Recommended Posts

Just finished one of those surveys for Platinum Latitudes. The interesting part (for me!) was a list of potential perks for 250 point members. I guess the idea was for us to rate them according to interest.

My favorite was being able to eat breakfast and lunch in Cagney's!

Boy would I love to have that perk on every cruise!

:D

Took the same survery. I applaud NCL for trying to find ways of improving the program, but they need to do something with a bit more wow factor for those of us who book suites. We get some of the things that they "proposed" and by giving more to latitude members, they are going to alienate the suite guests who are paying for those perks in the base fare. I hope they think this all the way through. It makes sense to reward repeat cruisers but don't do something that will potentially make your suite guests second guess what they are booking.

I just completed the survey. I was Platinum before the change, so I remember being a bit disappointed as I felt there wasn't much to look forward to above Platinum even with the new program.

Now I'm one of those Non Suite cruisers, I would rather cruise 3-5 times a year versus 1 time a year in a suite. I really wonder if the handful of 250+ point latitude members on a particular ship will really hamper and tie up service for Breakfast in a specialty dining room. The survey I filled out only mentioned breakfast, not lunch.

On this site, sometimes Suite guests come off a bit entitled, at least to me. I probably spend as much money on the 3-5 cruises a year I take in a non suite cabin as some(not all mind you) of the one time a year Suite Cruiser. Just sayin.

The number of 250, 500, 750, 1000 point cruisers on a particular ship on a particular date will probably not be all that high.

Now let the flaming of my opinion begin

I agree with you. What is worse for me, is that I travel solo and pay a hefty supplement to do so. Some of the perks proposed were interesting, but I would rather see discounts on future cruises. I am at Platinum now and would like to see levels above that. As Platinum, several of the perks I am now entitled to use, I do not.

I won't flame you, because I cruise the same way.

I will never understand the mindset of some who book suites, then begrudge others who may receive some of the same benefits by other means.

No flames here Debbie,

We to were Platinum before the change, and were quite disappointed that there would be no further levels for us to attain. We are loyal to NCL.

We cruise several times a year, we always book insides to begin with...and only upgrade if we're celebrating something special or find an awsome bargain.

I don't think the few cruisers that are above the 250 point mark would make much of a difference for breakfast. They could possibly just open up another space specifically for those above the 250 points....maybe in the Italian restaurant on the JEWEL class ship....or maybe the Cagneys extension area behind the Concierge lounge.

I don't think suite passengers begrudge others who legitimately receive the benefits by other means such as being given VIP status or being a casino VIP...they begrudge those who want to con the benefits for other members of their traveling party who are in no way entitled to them... typically relatives or fiends who aren't staying in suites. If you're not paying the premium for a suite, or aren't identified as a VIP, what on earth makes people think they're entitled to suite benefits?

I too did the survey - became Platinum under the old plan but did suggest some things like free internet minutes, discount drink packages etc but forgot that perhaps at 250 points a 20% reduction in the solo supplement increasing to perhaps 50% at either 750 or 1000 points for those of us who travel solo might be a good idea.

Cheers

I haven't seen the survey yet.

To me, I think a 250 point cruiser should be able to choose their perk from a list of four or five. They should need to choose it when they do their e-docs. If they are in a suite, then they can choose something other than Cagney's, and so on.

I agree with njhorseman. If someone earned the perks, great - more power to you.

Where I am coming from - I am at platinum level now and have been for a cruise or two - have 3 more cruises booked all in suites. What I saw in the email survey - my interpretation - was proposed changes to the program could give me, a platinum level cruiser who books in suites about twice a year, the same perks that I already pay for in the suites level.

Can't NCL give us suite, platinum level cruises something more than the regular platinum level perks? That's all I am asking. If I am paying for it already, why give it to me again through latitudes - doesn't make sense - and lessens the impact on those of us who are willing to pay more for a suite.

I don't question what people pay for a cabin - book what you want, how often you want. I would think giving a little more thought to the treatment of platinums in suites would give those of us who are topping out on benefits something else beyond what is being offered.

Did you say any of this in your responses in the survey? I think the purpose of the survey was to see what if any additional changes needed to be made and what thoughts people have. Now the next questions are, once the survey data is complied, what are they going to do with it and will the results of the survey be made public??

I just finished that survey. I also was Platinum before the change. I agree there should be another level after Platinum. I did like the idea of $100 obc to become another perk for Platinum and a Cagney's breakfast.:D

You apparently have forgotten some of the comments on previous threads. I have "been there - done that" and can easily see and hear the snide comments from those who knew we were booked inside and saw us enjoying breakfast at Cagney's.

Please don't try to justify the attitudes of those who think they are more entitled than others.

Yeap I did - not in the same language - but my point was made in my survey response. They didn't give a date as to when changes would be made - it could be a year or more (I don't have any inside information) - but this won't happen overnight. Only time will tell.

I agree . One of the reasons I book suites is for the perks. Some of the "suites" are nothing more than slightly bigger balcony cabins with a bigger price tag. So reason stands once I reach 250 theres very little reason for me to book suites any longer . Im all for it but I think NCL may be a little disapointed ;)

No flames. I agree with you. If NCL is considering the option of breakfast in Cagneys or somewhere else, they probably already know that it won't affect the level of service those in suites receive.

For those that haven't taken the survey yet, it only offered 1 1/2 things that I can remember that Suites now have that others do not. What do I mean by 1 1/2 you ask??

Breakfast at a specialty restaurant - suites get breakfast and lunch - that's the 1/2

the other thing I recall seeing would be on Embarkation Day, being able to go to the VIP/Suite checkin area.

That is all I recall seeing that might "infringe" on the suite cruisers.

Maybe I missed some others, but those are the one's that stood out to me as being currently suite benefits, that I have never gotten as just a Platinum, non suite cruiser.

Now I just wish that Norwegian would allow my minor child to receive the Platinum Benefits that I have paid full 2nd passenger Fare for (minus the alcohol, which I understand). He will be at that level, points wise after our Thanksgiving cruise. Just a dream I know. He's sailed the Days and I've paid the Fare, wish he got the benefits!

I just completed the survey also. I'm just glad they are looking to give us something to look forward to after attaining Platinum status. I would love just breakfast at Cagney's. We were spoiled by the suite-life but unfortunately NCL is pricing the suites above our budget next year so I'm going to have to make do with the aft balcony......which is priced like this years SF's.

This is what I remember of the list of possibilities...

VIP embarkation

Complimentary Category upgrades

Party for only those with 250 points or more

Bridge visit for 2 guests

Dedicated phone line for reservations

Discount on fare based on number of cruises

Lunch or Dinner with Captain once during cruise, for 2 guests

Reduced deposits

Special ship pin

Breakfast in a specialty restaurant each day

Discounts for booking balcony or suites

Exclusive offers that can be combined with other promos(like 10% off)

15 minutes free internet

$100 OBC

We have been fortunate enough to get "VIP" treatment from NCL on a cruise. I had no indication the we "ruined" any other passenger's "Suite Life." Those we met at the Meet & Greet were uniformly gracious. ;)

Most mornings Cagney's was almost empty anyway.

I'll gladly (and I hope graciously) accept any gifts that NCL comes up with to reward my patronage. :D

Thanks Tequila

I actually did remember a lot of those, I was just trying to point out the ones that were similar to Current Suite Perks. You highlighted them. Thanks. The list will be great for others to reference. To be honest, I would love to have any of those mentioned above added as perks for the 250+ points

Happy Cruising!!!

I am very heartened by this survey. It shows that some of the concerns, by people well beyond Platinum status, have been heard and they are looking at possible ways to improve this new program and make it a real loyalty program rather than just an incentive program.

I think all of the perks they list are better than the "travel atlas", photo frame or waterford bowl they currently offer. If they want to go with some type of gift type item I firmly believe it should be presented on the ship....and not mailed out.

I think NCL is listening to the public, which I applaude. I know many of us have written in and posted here on CC in the past about wanting additional levels above Platinum , with perks or not.

Like many here I usually book suites and fill in with a couple of balcony cruises. I am not worried about a few 250 point guests invading suite perks. Most of us with more then 250 points get those perks as VIPs already. We have built relationships after 100s of days at sea that are worth more then any of the existing perks.

The one thing they have to change is the worthless milestone rewards. New levels are required to recognize the those that have cruised the most. An atlas, a picture frame, and a bowl for spending huge sums of money was an insult.
