Interesting 250 Point Latitudes Perks from Survey

I think all of the perks they list are better than the "travel atlas", photo frame or waterford bowl they currently offer. If they want to go with some type of gift type item I firmly believe it should be presented on the ship....and not mailed out.

I think NCL is listening to the public, which I applaude. I know many of us have written in and posted here on CC in the past about wanting additional levels above Platinum , with perks or not.

I agree. I would rather have perks on my cruise than getting one of those gifts in the mail. I took the survey too, and I am happy NCL is looking to improve the perks for their clients who cruise alot with them.

You apparently have forgotten some of the comments on previous threads. I have "been there - done that" and can easily see and hear the snide comments from those who knew we were booked inside and saw us enjoying breakfast at Cagney's.

Please don't try to justify the attitudes of those who think they are more entitled than others.

I don't understand what you're talking about. Unless you walk around bragging about the fact that you were booked in an inside but eating in Cagney's, who would even know?

On one cruise we were VIP'd by the hotel director and got to eat in Cagney's. No one knew about that but us, and no one cared.

Thanks for posting this thread, I was hoping to hear how others responded. I also responded to the survey and one reply was that we couldn't care less about items mailed to us for obtaining higher levels - our preference would be the onboard perks. I would like Internet minutes (without having to purchase a plan) - it seems like the survey only included additional minutes as an option with a 100 minute plan if I remember correctly. Onboard credit of $100 would be a very nice gesture and we also would like the option to dinein Cagneys for breakfast and/or lunch.

Someone mentioned having a list of options and choosing one when booking - that sounds like a wonderful plan and a great way to make many customers happy! I should say we have been platinum for quite a while but haven't been on NCL for a few years - when their credit card rewards were changed it wasn't in our best interest to keep the card or only look at NCL. We are definitely open to booking another cruise; however, there need to be some new itineraries as we do miss the special treatment we received as upper tier Latitudes members.

There should a Platinum colored envelope(s) on your bed when you reach your cabin on embarkation day. Inside the envelope will be coupons for the various perks with instruction on each as to how to use them. If you have any questions, the person on board to talk to is the Cruise Consultant.

Just a question.....How are you Platinum with only 10 NCL cruises?

Each person that is Platinum is entitled to dinner for two and a bottle of wine in Le Bistro.

I find the concept that some suite guests feel entitled a bit strange. I do feel entitled, entitled to everything I paid for! Some of those that don't stay in suites like to comment that what could it hurt? Let's take Cagney's, usually when we are there for breakfast, there are two waiters and one or two assistants. Normally there are fewer than 10 suite guests at a time and they are well served. If you make the number 15 guests, the 10 suite guests get less service than they had, but the 5 extra's get better service/food than they would have. Who wins?

Most suite guests pay anywhere from about $3000 to $20,000 for one week, they get a somewhat larger room. The extra's are butler, concierge, special seating at shows and food/service. Anyone in the world can get the very same thing. All you have to do is pay for it and book.

I've never noticed any suite guest in my experience that felt/displayed being superior. All that most want is the service/perks they paid for and to not hand them out to others that have not paid.

If NCL wanted to make some extra money, they could allow everyone to eat breakfast and lunch in Cagney's for a fee. Since dinner is $25 how about $5 for breakfast and $10 for lunch. How soon would that perk cease being a perk? NCL already allows some "VIP's" in Cagney's. Most know who they are right away. On our last cruise we were told by the Concierge who the VIP's were.

On this site, sometimes Suite guests come off a bit entitled, at least to me. I probably spend as much money on the 3-5 cruises a year I take in a non suite cabin as some(not all mind you) of the one time a year Suite Cruiser. Just sayin.

Agreed ;)

Reminds me of the scene in Titanic when the ship is going down, and Rose's mom asks "will the lifeboats be boarding by class?" :D

You know what...we cruise in anything from balcony cabins to mini suites to full suites. It's our choice...and guess what...we pay a lot more when we cruise in a suite, and that's why we're entitled to the suite perks. When we cruise in a balcony cabin we're still the same people, and guess what...we don't feel entitled to the suite perks. Guess why...we didn't pay for them!

I don't feel entitled to sit in business class on an airplane when I pay for coach, but I do when I pay for business class.

I also don't feel entitled to drive a Maserati when I've paid for a Fiat.

I don't understand why some people find this concept so hard to grasp. You're entitled to what you pay for, you're not entitled to what you haven't paid for. A cruise ship isn't a socialist commune.

My response to the survey was that they need to pay more attention to the those who book an inside, OV or balcony 2-3-4 or 5 times a year vs. a suite cruiser who goes once a year or less.

I also suggested OBC instead of a journal, etc.

But a gold, diamond encrusted, Platinum pin would be awesome! :D:p:eek:

A statement like this is what I mean by some having a sense of entitlement. I choose to spend my $3000-$20,000 over a few weeks each year versus just once a year. If I'm spending what others are, then why aren't I entitled to a few breakfasts in a special restaurant?

It also comes down to what is Loyalty? Is it who can throw out the most money, or who keeps coming back? A person that cruises a particular line once in an suite, for 20+days, and books 9 months out, then goes to other lines and comes back 5 years later, are they Loyal to this particular line? Just asking?

To me Loyalty is something other than money. Maybe that is what is wrong with some businesses and employees these days, they have forgotten what being Loyal actually mean.

Took the same survery. I applaud NCL for trying to find ways of improving the program, but they need to do something with a bit more wow factor for those of us who book suites. We get some of the things that they "proposed" and by giving more to latitude members, they are going to alienate the suite guests who are paying for those perks in the base fare. I hope they think this all the way through. It makes sense to reward repeat cruisers but don't do something that will potentially make your suite guests second guess what they are booking.

I agree. Most of the time when I sail NCL I book a Haven suite. So eating at Cagneys comes with the room. What I want is a $250 dollar discount for booking a suite like RCL. If all latitude members get the same perk as suite by eating at Cagneys, it's going to be pretty busy...

My survey talked about Cagney's as a perk for Latitude members with 250+ points. I don't think many sailings will be overwhelmed wit 250+ Latituders. Even if they were I'm sure they could add staff.

I just completed the survey. I was Platinum before the change, so I remember being a bit disappointed as I felt there wasn't much to look forward to above Platinum even with the new program.

Now I'm one of those Non Suite cruisers, I would rather cruise 3-5 times a year versus 1 time a year in a suite. I really wonder if the handful of 250+ point latitude members on a particular ship will really hamper and tie up service for Breakfast in a specialty dining room. The survey I filled out only mentioned breakfast, not lunch.

On this site, sometimes Suite guests come off a bit entitled, at least to me. I probably spend as much money on the 3-5 cruises a year I take in a non suite cabin as some(not all mind you) of the one time a year Suite Cruiser. Just sayin.

The number of 250, 500, 750, 1000 point cruisers on a particular ship on a particular date will probably not be all that high.

Now let the flaming of my opinion begin

I'm with you!!! They do appear a bit entitled.

I can accept that you may spend the same amount of money for a few week's cruise fares as somebody else spends for one week in a suite. I sometimes splurge on a suite, but usually I follow your plan... so I am not flaming you. But shouldn't you and I remember that we get, for example, 28 days of accommodations, steward, meals, entertainment, ports over the course of the year for those same dollars that get the luxury suite cruiser 7 days of accommodations, steward, entertainment, ports, meals, etc. If two Platinums per cabin, you and I get 8 free Le Bistro dinners, 12 bottles of wine, 8 bags of laundry, 8 cocktail parties during 4 one week cruises over the course of a year...If you or I went the suite route as Platinums, it is 2 Le Bistro, 4 bottles of wine, 2 bags of laundry, 2-3 cocktail parties during that pricy week. Oh yes, the suite folks also get up to 7 Cagney's breakfasts and lunches... we really are getting so much for the same money...Do you think you or I should get 28 Cagney's breakfasts over the year for the same money?

Typing this, I am comfortable with my decision....bet you are too.

I'm wondering if I'm the only suite cruiser thinking the same entitlement issue is shared by Platinum cruisers who don't book suites. Remember the thread a few days ago about people who only book inside cabins?

Either way, the loyalty program perks are not a decision I'm able to make for NCL, and I don't cruise often enough to make Platinum for several years. Just be careful with that mud you're starting to sling.

I received the survey and couldn't get the link to work, so thanks for posting the list of options. It is quite interesting.

I am one of the people that book anything from a balcony to a Garden Villa.

I have no problem with Suite Folks wanting what they are entitled to. I do have an issue with Suite Folks that have made themselves the perk police and are watching to make sure no one else gets something that they have decided they are not entitled to. And at no time would I ever discuss another passenger's status with a concierge  That is totally inappropriate and shows a complete lack of class.

I prefer to enjoy myself on my cruises, and I hope everyone else does as well!

When asked if I had further suggestions for enhancing the program I added:

"Please allow one bottle of wine to be brought on board without the corkage fee"

It will be interesting to see if/when there are future changes to the program.

Platinum is 76+ points, I have 115. Two cruises were 14 days - both in suites earning 28 points each time.

I understand that you are platinum now. But you stated that you were platinum long ago and I was curious how you could have been platinum with only 10 cruises prior to the program conversion.

No slam intended. I was just curious considering your wording.

John you can be Platinum today with 2 cruises. In fact my 24 day cruise next fall would make anyone platinum.

Sent from my iPhone - Jim

Jim, I understand completely. But the poster stated that they were platinum for a long time when in fact they did not become platinum until the program conversion, like many others I might add.
