I have made my list of books to download on my Kindle for our upcoming cruise. Unfortunately I couldn't resist reading one after reading the prequel that was free! Now I need a replacement. Currently planning on downloading John Grisham's latest novel. Any suggestions? ( The book I just finished was Karen Kingsbury's "Bridge".. I highly recommend it!)

I like the Rizoli & Isles series by Tess Gerritsen. And I am currently reading book 13 in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher, which is a very well done series if you are into supernatural, action, detective stuff.

I have over 200 books on my Nook and I've read most of them - all in the 18 months since I got it!

My favs so far:

Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich

High Heels series by Gemma Halliday

Fatal Series by Marie Force

The Sullivan's series by Bella Andre

"Marriage" series by Jennifer Probst

Four weddings & a fiasco series by Lucy Kevin

McKettricks series by Linda Lael Miller

Chesapeake Shores series by Sherryl Woods

Charleston series by Sherryl Woods

Bella Terra series by Christina Dodd

McCarthys of Gansett Island series by Marie Force

Chase Brothers series by Lauren Dane

Most of these are romance series and some of them can get pretty hot & steamy - those are the best ones (IMO) to read on a cruise, while laying by the pool, with waiters bringing you nice cold drinks! :D

Enjoy your cruise!

I'm a history buff so I almost exclusively read nonfiction. Fiction books bore me to death.

One history book I love is about a little known president, Garfield. The book is called "Destiny of the Republic". A fascinating read if you're even slightly interested, and not written in a dry, history textbook way.

Thanks! I will be busy looking up these suggestions. :D I like to find authors that write a series with the same characters e.g. Sue Grafton, Faye or Jonathon Kellerman, Teri Blackstock, Beverly Lewis. I like John Grisham, Dan Walsh and Nicholas Sparks. I like some of Jodi Picoult's novels. I recently finished a book by Chris Coppernoll, "Providence". I may download a few of his other books as well. I like few things better than a book I can't put down!

I like fiction, but like you I enjoy a well written non fiction history book. I really liked O'Reilly's "Killing Kennedy". Also liked "John Newton: From Disgrace to Amazing Grace", by Jonathan Aitken. I might look into "Killing Lincoln". I forgot about that one.

I have about 500 books on my nook..sheesh where to start!

I am presently reading Experiment in Terror Series I am on book 7 -- easy read, fun..

Fifty Shades of Grey -- well since we make and sell those items in the book (crosses crops cuffs ect) they were just MEW, not well written, ..but if you want some soft porn with a hint of romance..then they are okay.

The girl who kicked the hornets nest (three books total in this series) is really good..i think it is a movie now.

Miss Peregrins Home for Peculiar Children was good.

The Help (made into a movie also)

The HUnger Series

All roads lead to Austen - great book

The Casual Vacancy -- good read

Color Me Grey

Love from the Ashes

Ok there are a few books..:)

have a great one!

I've read some of these series but a few are new to me so I shall check them out... I currently have about 200 on my Kindle and another 600 on my iPad (prefer reading on the iPad when sunscreen and foo foo drinks aren't involved) when I'm on vacation the only thing I have the attention span for is "chick lit" ;)

Robyn Kaye is along the lines of Bella Andre style with her Domestic Gods series if you're looking for someone new to try out. I have found a lot of new authors on the Goodreads site with their recommendations :)

Given what you say you've read and liked, I'm going to recommend a book I'm in the middle of now - but it's really good so far: Into the Woods, by Tana French. I downloaded it on a whim, but I'm really pleased that I did.

I'd also recommend The House of Silk - a new Sherlock Holmes novel by Anthony Horowitz, and Her Royal Spyness by Rhys Bowen. That last one was recommended as a mystery, but it's really more of a social comedy (1930's England) with a bit of a mystery thrown in. That's part of it's charm - good characters and amusing too. I also like the science fiction books by Philip K. Dick, but not everyone likes science fiction.

Thank you for the recommendation. I love reading chick lit series and was looking for another one. I'll have to check it out. Maybe I'll be able to download some of the books and NOT read them before my cruise & land tour in June!

If you like the Kellermans (my favorites)...

Try the Linda Fairstein Series. I second Tess Gerritsen. Michael Connelly, Kusa Gardner, Alex Kava, Karin Slaughter, Patricia Cornwell. Those are some of my favorite mystery series authors.

Today I just downloaded to my Kindle Al Gore's new book "The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change."

I just finished reading "Chronicals of a Cruise Ship Crew Member" by Joshua Kinser. He was a musicain on cruise ships for several years. His perspectives are very interesting and I could hardly put my Kindle down while reading his book.

Fever Dreams, Cold Vengeance and Two Coffins by Preston & Child. Also The Second Lady by Irving Wallace, Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter and A Brewing Storm by Richard Castle to name a few.

I just read The Second Lady and it is great and will keep you guessing long after you finish the book. The U.S. State's First Lady is kidnapped while on a trip to Russia and her look alike, a Russian girl, looks and talks so much like her that she is able to fool not only the President but the citizens of the United States. It is a "must" read in my book.

I am currently reading Fever Dreams and it is another must read. It starts on an African Safari and then finds in way down to New Orleans. I just found out that Cold Vengeance and Two Coffins (in that order) starts where Fever Dreams ends.

Great recommendations! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's books!

Not sure if you're aware, but the three you mentioned (Fever Dream, Cold Vengeance and Two Graves) are the most recent in their Special Agent Pendergast series of books. If you wanted to start at the beginning of the series and read them in order they are: Relic, Reliquary, Cabinet of Curiousities (my personal favorite!), Still Life with Crows, Brimstone, Dance of Death, Book of the Dead, Wheel of Darkness, Cemetery Dance, Fever Dream, Cold Vengeance and Two Graves. :) I have read them all and highly recommend them. Although Preston and Child write the Pendergast series as a team, I head read and enjoyed their individual efforts, also.

Thirding, (fourthing)? Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. It's on my Kindle right now! Really enjoying it so far, and it's a super fast read.

I enjoy historical fiction and non-fiction:

So if you can imagine the middle ages with a feminist twist--the Mistress of the Art of Death series by Ariana Franklin.

I like to set the context for a cruise so this year have read several of Robert Massie's books set in Russia ex Catherine the Great, Nicholas and Alexandra.

Also a Preston and Child fan.....
