Thanks. I wasnt even thinking of bottled water... if we don't do bottled water, is it easy enough to get regular drinking water from anywhere for free? Are there drinking fountains if we bring our own water bottles? Do all of the restaurants provide a glass of water for free?

Just FYI, you can carry on 12 cans or cartons of up to 12 oz non alcoholic beverages. NO BOTTLES. You can also carry on a 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne/pp over 21. You can purchase bottled water from BV, I believe it is $2.99 for a 12 pack, but don't quote me. It will be waiting for you in your cabin. Coffee, tea, dispenser water, iced tea and hot chocolate are available 24/7 from Lido. Breakfast offers the usual juices, then they switch out to lemonade and ice tea for lunch. I love making my own Arnold Palmer! You will have a carafe of water on your table at dinner and ice tea or lemonade is available for the asking. Unless you REALLY love milkshakes, specialty coffees and bottled water, Cheers does not seem like a good deal for you. If you drink one glass of wine a night, you can probably rely on the wine you brought on with you, then just purchase a drink or two. JMO.

I wish i would have seen this post a month ago.lol. I would have asked a few less questions. My big one was martinis. That's all I drink. If they counted a martini as 2 or 3 drinks I'd be screwed. 15 martinis for 50 bucks is a screaming deal. I live in the mile high city. When I get to sea level 1 martini is like a Shirley temple.

Crusin Karen - Thank you, very helpful!

No problem. Have a great cruise! I tried to copy and paste this but there are too many images for the administrator....GOOGLE is your best friend. Google "Zydecocruiser bar menu" and click on CCL 2017 menu with prices. For those undecided about purchasing Cheers, you can do the math and figure out if it's worth it for you. :wine-glass::cocktail::tropical-drink::beer-mug::bottle-pop::whiskey-glass: They have food porn too!

It sucks that I, as a teetotaler (non-drinker), have to pay for $49.95/$59.95 a day for the Cheers drink package just because the other person in my room wants to get it. For that amount of money for a 6-day cruise for 2 people, it's half for what we paid for the entire cruise! I wish there was a way around this; short of switching names on the reservation with other people that are traveling with us and then just swapping back on the boat and just use 1 cabin key, but that's a bit much.

I wonder if I can just pay for the Bubbles package and get by with that? It would save me roughly $255 if I can. Actually, if I don't get a package at all it will save me the entire amount!

Any suggestions? (No, I won't become a drinker. lol)

Have the other person buy Bar Cash/Cruise Cash. Guesstimate what they will drink price wise.

You can buy in increments of $25, $50, $75 and $100 up to $500 per cabin for each category listed above.

Just remember those AREN'T refundable.

Very good options for those that don't think Cheers will work for them , but don't want the big bar bill at the end.

This is Perfect!!

I think we can easily budget for both of us to get 1 fancy coffee, 1 milkshake, and 1 alcoholic drink per day. And bring sodas & energy drinks with the 12 cans we're each allowed to bring on board. That should be about $20/pp - so only $200 for the week instead of $500+!

Someone responded about my question about bringing my own reusable water bottle by saying we can bring on cans of things and 1 wine but not bottles...but I would assume that means bottles of soda or other bottles of drink. I find it odd that they wouldn't allow you to bring a nice quality(empty) water bottle on board for use during the week? :/ Can anyone confirm that for me?

Or are there no drinking fountains or anything around the ship where I could even fill it? LOL

I drink water like crazy, all day long. I easily drink 12 cups - more if it's warm. So only having water during meals would be difficult for me. But if there aren't even drinking fountains there's no point having a water bottle with me. And I guess I'll have to budget to buy bottled water too.

You cannot carry on BOTTLES of the 12/pp 12 oz non alcoholic beverages. Only cans or cartons. I guess people were bringing on water bottles filled with something a little stronger than water :o so they discontinued that! We usually carry on a 12 pack of coke for me and 12 pack of diet coke for DH. And IN THE PAST you have been able to bring cans of non alcoholic drinks on board at ports of call, tho I have read that some ships are doing away with this. You ARE allowed one 750ml BOTTLE of wine/pp over 21 carry on. So both you and your DH can each carry on a bottle. As far as water, as I mentioned, you can order bottled water from BV pre cruise and it will be in your cabin. Bring a small collapsible cooler and ask your steward to keep it filled with ice. There is water from a dispenser on Lido 24 hours/day and ice machines so it should not be a problem for you to fill your water bottle. MANY people do this! And by all means, bring your own water bottle. You can also purchase them in the gift shop, but they are kind of pricey. Save that $ for your evening cocktail! ;):tropical-drink:

You CAN bring on an empty refillable water bottle, sippy-cup, etc. My sister has to use one nearly all the time for water, due to medical reasons, and she had no problems even taking it into the MDR.

I can't speak for all Carnival ships, but I've seen water fountains on all the ships I've been on recently. Some near the Lido pool, some on Deck 10 above there...this is on Conquest-class.

There is also 24-hour ice and water service in the Lido buffet area itself.

As mentioned earlier, you might also look into purchasing bottled water on Carnival's site for delivery to your cabin. They reduced the price greatly when they (understandably) banned bringing on bottled water, to the point where it is....dare I say it?....actually a Good Deal. :)

I purchased water 12 packs online last night...$4.50 a 12pack.

When CCL changed it's policy to no bottles for carry on, they offered a 12 pack of water from BV for $2.99. Guess they are realizing they can get a bit more for it now.

I never go anywhere without my refillable bottles and drink a ton of water too. I always bring my bottle on cruises and have no problem filling them on Lido. You do have to use a glass because they don't like non-clean things touching the fountain. But it's really not too much of a hassle. As someone who is accustomed to drinking water from the fountain wherever I go, I think the Lido water tastes just fine.

  • 3 weeks later...

Beer is around $6 a glass.

Wine is $8-9 a glass.

Most mixed drinks are $8.95-9.05, but higher at the Alchemy Bar.

Coffee is around $3.50.

We just did the Cheers package and only hit 15 drinks 2 out of 8 days.

We paid $900 for the two of us to have it for an 8 day cruise.... there is no way we would have spent that much or drank that much if we didn't have it.

I think if you are a heavy hitter and know you will drink 10 plus drinks a day (normally out of pocket) than go for it. If you are a more casual drinker you probably would be fine paying per drink.

We tried it once but it was before all the new changes and we did have to drink a lot to make it worth while. Now you can factor in specialty coffee, vitamin water, powerade, energy drinks, coconut water, soda/pop, juices, milk shakes, bottle water and water in the MDR. Depending on what you drink most individuals break even with 5 or so alcoholic beverages if you include the other drinks. It will be easier for us to break even with the additions now. We plan on trying it on the Vista next year and we will see how it goes.

Thanks!

Between September of last year and April 6 there were no changes. I don't know first hand after the 6th but I haven't heard of any new changes. I stay pretty updated when it comes to the Cheers package.

Basically it covers all drinks on the ship with a value of $50 or less. That includes coffee, energy drinks, bottled water, soda, and so much more... on top of your 15 alcoholic drinks

i did cheers last week on the Breeze. Great deal. Lived at Alchemy and Iguana tequila pool bar.

I would highly suggest rum runner flasks. We brought 6 large flasks and rolled them up in our clothes. No problem at all. We brought them for the first night cause cheers wasn't included outta Texas. Next time I'll prob pass on cheers.

It covers most drinks that are 50 or less. Towers or pitchers of beer are not included, as well as any drink in a specialty glass and floaters for frozen drinks. There aren't any drinks over 25, so it's a little misleading. There is a glass of champagne at the steakhouse for 20 as well as Grey Goose VX vodka and Roca Patron tequila that are around 15 each. Alchemy Bar drinks are 10.95, so just 4 of them at night time and a cold beer during the day and you've broke even. All of the non alcoholic drinks are then gravy.
