Not sure. I got mine at the casino bar. It was a sea day and the special ended at noon. I ordered a Bloody Mary with grey goose. Bartender told me about the double shot special with belvedere. I told him I was on cheers. He told me it was covered. I asked if it counted as two drinks. He said no...so I got it...and I went to the same bartender before noon to get another. :D

Good to know, first I have seen that "special" mentioned I'll be on the lookout for that [emoji4][emoji484] Thanks

Hello cheers experts.

My entire family is going on a cruise including my parents who are in their mid to late 70's. All of us are buying the cheers package as it will save most of about half of what we would normally spend.

My question is about my parents only. We all have cove balconys as this is our preferred room type, but also because it is my parents first cruise and did not want a lot of motion in case of sea sickness. Y father has had knee replace surgery in the last 6 months and gets along fine... But he is wanting to have a few beers in a bucket on his own balcony...

Is this something he will be able to do?? They will not be able to go back and forth for every beer in their room. If this may be an issue then I may have them cancel the cheers .. I hope this makes sense.

It's not about the cost or number of drinks..but their mobility... Thanks for any help!!

I can see several solutions - we always bring our own soft cooler and have it filled with ice - holds the ice better than a bucket

If your group was amenable some of them could go to a bar, each get an unopened beer and take to your parents.

Or your parents could do the same thing themselves - go to a bar - get 2 beers - repeat every 5 minutes several times and take to cabin

If we purchase before boarding, do we get to use it as soon as we board or do we have to wait until we are out to sea? Also, would we get a sticker when we check in or would we have to go somewhere once on the ship to get it?

If we buy it Day 2, do we have to pay for the first day?

We purchased our online ahead of time. Upon boarding we went to the bar and ordered our first drink. The computer system showed we had Cheers so they put the sticker on our card. We did not have to wait til we were at sea to use it. However, since we were in port we were charged the tax for that drink, less than a dollar.

It is effective as soon as you step on the ship. Cruises leaving from Texas and NY (I think) are different.

You get a sticker at the first bar you go to. Sometimes you have to ask for one. It's not really needed as it comes up when they swipe your card anyway.

If you buy it on day 2 you do not get charged for day one, but will pay for any drinks you bought that day.

Thanks! I was thinking about waiting until day 2 to purchase it to save some money since we are going to the steakhouse the first night and will be taking advantage of buying a couple of bottles of Caymus for half price. However, since we save $10 a day pre-purchasing Cheers, we might as well get it so we can enjoy our tradition of enjoying a couple of cocktails when we board as well.

Sticker is meaningless so don't worry if they don't give it to you at the first bar.

We've never bought it before, so I didn't know if we needed it to get our drinks. It seems like with bottomless bubbles, we just showed them our sticker and they gave us our drinks, I don't recall them always swiping our card. We really don't drink that much, but now that it includes water bottles and coffee I think we could get our money's worth. We did have it on Royal Caribbean because they have nice wines by the glass and we love a good wine. Then we had it on NCL because they were running the promotion where it was included and boy was it nice ordering a drink whenever I wanted one and not worrying about a bar tab. I also enjoyed trying new things because if I didn't like it I just ordered something else instead.

You can order bucket of beer from room service also, BUT it will not go against your Cheers you have to pay for them. Buckets of beer are not covered anywhere under the Cheers program

You can order a bucket of beers you get 1 on cheers the rest are you pay for.

this is not within the rules and your miles may vary.

you are allowed to purchase a round for you and for your friends or family where one drink gets charged to cheers and the others you pay for but that does not include buckets of beer and it does state you cant get the buckets of beer on the cheers program so some may allow it and some may not. YMMV

For what it's worth, we were on the Vista in December and we had a bartender we went to often. She'd let us have 2-3 drinks at a time, jot down our folio jumber and would just enter it again 5 minutes later without us having to wait around. I'm not saying that this is the case always, but we did have this happen to us.

It sucks that I, as a teetotaler (non-drinker), have to pay for $49.95/$59.95 a day for the Cheers drink package just because the other person in my room wants to get it. For that amount of money for a 6-day cruise for 2 people, it's half for what we paid for the entire cruise! I wish there was a way around this; short of switching names on the reservation with other people that are traveling with us and then just swapping back on the boat and just use 1 cabin key, but that's a bit much.

I wonder if I can just pay for the Bubbles package and get by with that? It would save me roughly $255 if I can. Actually, if I don't get a package at all it will save me the entire amount!

Any suggestions? (No, I won't become a drinker. lol)

Just have the other person pay per drink.

You don't "have to pay" for anything.

Everyone in the cabin 21 and over must purchase Cheers if one person wants it. Bottomless Bubbles will not satisfy that requirement and there are no exceptions even with Drs notes. I understand they used to be more lenient, but like anything else, I'm sure people were abusing it so they have really cracked down.

How much of a drinker is your cabinmate? Asking because s/he could chip in for half (ish) of your package, and still come out ahead vs no package and paying for each drink.

Remember, cheers also includes energy drinks, specialty coffees, bottled water, smoothies, milkshakes, sodas, ect...

So if your roommate insists on getting Cheers, see if you can convince him to cover some of your required package, then enjoy all the non adult beverages it includes.

They can't force you to pay for something you don't want. They would simply refuse to sell it to your cabin mate unless you agreed to purchase too. No way I would agree to this. My cabin mate would simply have to pay for what they drink.

Hi, I'm brand new here, and without trying to read through the last 114 (!!) pages of responses, I'm hoping I can get some helpful info. :)

Hubby & I are going on our first cruise this fall. I'm trying to calculate if it would be worth it to get the Cheers program, but without knowing the typical price ranges of drinks on the ship that's a bit difficult!

We aren't huge drinkers. I may have 1 glass of wine or 1 cocktail per day. Hubby might have 2-3 alcoholic drinks per day.

But we like coffee, soda, milkshakes, etc.

Can anyone share what the prices are for those other drinks? If everything is twice as expensive as on land, then it *might* be worth it... but then again, both of us likely wouldn't have more than a few sodas, 1 specialty coffee or 1 milkshake each day.

Thanks in advance for all helpful replies! :D

With what you mentioned , off the top of my head , It probably wouldn't be worth it.

I would just add some money to your OBC.

It depends on what you like to drink. A house glass of wine could be around $8 but then they offer higher priced options also. Same with the drinks. Call brand mixed drinks also run around $8 but higher end drinks and martinis can run around $11 and up.

It also includes unlimited bottled water, sodas, speciality coffee and teas from the coffee shop, energy drinks, poweraid, coconut water, etc.

I just bought the Cheers package for my husband and I for our upcoming Alaska cruise. We will likely have 4-5 alcoholic drinks max, but it is still worth it to us. Personally, I like a nice glass of wine (or two) at dinner and maybe a couple martinis after dinner. Also, I love speciality coffees, bottled water, and energy drinks.

Usually we sail out of Florida and drive to the port so I don't mind wheeling a carry on suitcase of my sugar free energy drinks, sodas, coconut water, two bottles of wine, etc but since we are flying to Seattle for this cruise, it is an added bonus not having to worry about it.:)
