Royal Caribbean International is now offering two alcoholic beverage package options on select ships sailing on 4-night or longer cruises, giving guests a no-hassle way to enjoy an all-inclusive beverage experience during their cruise vacation. Below is an overview of these options:

The Classic Package, at $45.00 per guest per day, includes:

• * *Beer brands (below $6.25)

• * *House wine by the glass

• * *Fountain soda

• * *Non-alcoholic cocktails

The Premium Package, at $55.00 per guest per day, includes:

• * *All well, call, and premium cocktails

• * *Frozen drinks

• * *All beers (bottle, can, and draft)

• * *House wine by the glass

• * *Non-alcoholic cocktails

• * *Fountain soda and juices

• * *Shots of included alcohol brands; however, the ship reserves the right to restrict consumption, per the Guest Conduct Policy.

Please note that the following items are not included in either package:

• * *Full bottles of wine

• * *Full bottles of liquor

• * *Minibar products

• * *Specialty coffees

• * *Cans of soda

• * *Bottled water

• * *Freshly squeezed juices

• * *Use of the Coca-Cola® freestyle machine

• * *Souvenir glassware

Packages are available for purchase prior to cruise either online at http://www.royalcaribbean.com/beforeyouboard/cruiseEnhancements.do, or by calling our pre-cruise planning specialists at 1-800-398-9819. Prices are subject to change without notice and do not include Value Added Tax (VAT), which is required on some European sailings. All guests over the age of 21 in a stateroom must purchase a package; they are not available on a per-person basis. Guests with medical or other needs should speak with Guest Services onboard if an exception is required. Multiple beverages may not be ordered at the same time. Neither package can be shared or transferred to another guest.

The Coca-Cola® freestyle machine requires the souvenir cup provided with the purchase of our Unlimited Fountain Soda package; fountain sodas are provided in cups or glasses based on the venue. The drink of the day is available as part of the package, if served in a normal cup or glass. Guests may purchase the souvenir glass, and drink, at current bar pricing.

Royal is purposely non-specific when it comes to definining the term "house". My guess is that it will be whatever is the cheapest they have onboard.

the "champagne" offered was Chateau St Michelle, same stuff they offer at the captains gala, and crown and anchor parties. not great, not horrible...we drank it often with dinner because the house wine offerings were horrible. chardonnay, merlot, cab, white zin......and they WERE horrible LOL! the white zin was berringer at least, and we decided that the merlot was the least offensive of the house swill. we even had the bar server asking us if we wanted the "house swill" with dinner by the end of our nine days!

When you sign up for the package, you are given a list with what is included and what is not included and it is ship specific according to what they have in stock and what they actually paid for each particular liquor...this is from the beverage manager. Right in black and white, it said all beers except for Fosters Oil Can.

Yes, from what I have heard.

A slight detour if no one minds - the "classic package" says it includes non-alcoholic cocktails. Does that include frozen non-alcoholic, like virgin pina coladas?

I don't think so although some have reported otherwise. The premium package specifically lists FROZEN drinks as included. The classic doesn't mention anything about FROZEN drinks....

I've not considered drinking champagne throughout dinner. It sounds awesome! :D

Hi All,

We just got off the Oasis and I had the Premium package. My DW did not get it as she didn't feel like she would drink enough liquor and we brought 2 bottles of wine with us for her dinner. We had our teen kids with us so I got around the "everyone in the cabin must purchase the package" restriction by having one adult and one child in each cabin and buying the package online prior to boarding. They can't sell it to a minor. :)

Then when we boarded I just had the sea passes re-keyed to the correct rooms and we were set.

As to the question about cognac, I was able to get a Courvoisier XO at dinner. Additionally, there was only one port choice available (don't recall the brand but it was labeled at $6) despite the Graham's 6 Grape only being $6, it was not included in the package. Since I'm not normally a vodka or tequila drinker, I didn't bump up against some of those limits.

I would agree with most other posters, did I "break even?" Its probably a wash, but I would definitely do it again as I enjoyed my cruise more knowing I could try some new drinks and not worry about my bar bill. Admit it, its always at the back of your mind unless you make alot more than most of us do.

Response from someone at RCI Corporate of the image below....***HOWEVER***...there has been questions about whether each column represents a progressive scale...and are all those scales included?? Here is the original thread....http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showp...44&postcount=1

Do you have to buy it in advance, or can you buy it on board the ship?

Either way is fine. If you buy on the ship, it will use on board credit if you have any.

I read somewhere that if you purchased it prior to sailing, then you had a special 'glass/cup' in your room when you boarded. If you bought on day 1 then you didn't get the glass....is this true? Has anyone had any experience with it?

Great feedback so far though....I'm definitely leaning towards it.

The special cup is for the soda package.

You receive it whether you book before you sail or after you board.

Rccl in uk charging gratuities on top of price. Say gratuity not in price but at price quoted would mean exchange rate of $1.32ish!

I'll wait and pay on board using obc and take bank rate on cc. Even if pound continues to drop can't see it dropping that low. PDF on same page states clearly $ 55 inc grats. Uk customers again being shafted.

Or it could be the same mistake that briefly appeared on the US website.
