Black Diamond Crown & Anchor Society Tier???

Recommended Posts

This thread has been very amusing! On our last cruise on the Grandeur a week ago we were invited to the "Captain's Table" and following champagne in a reserved area we were led to the MDR and had a superb dinner with 4 officers and a D+ couple. However we are "only" Diamond albeit pretty close to D+ in points. I really was surprised to receive the invitation - it was the first time for us. The dinner was really quite nice with good wine, and a signed menu with a photo of the group. Maybe we were just lucky - not sure how this stuff is decided. But we truly appreciated the invitation and the effort!

He had to pass a test and promise not to wander. (I'm tempted to add, just like DH, but he's sitting right next to me at the moment, so better not, lol!)

All excellent suggestions. :) I have noticed the D+ desk's most savvy agents will refer to the D+ balcony discount as Pinnacle discount, even though they are identical. :)

On a cruise, not sure what line, I was able to get someone to make me a crew member nametage. Had lots of fun with it! And confessed in the end.

I'm also from central Illinois......but not as well informed!

I have not heard of that.

I do seem to recall that before "Emerald" was announced as a new level, CC posters saw it on signage in at least one port (?Baltimore, maybe), so it is possible, I suppose.

Somehow it sounds to me more like a casino VIP moniker than a frequent cruiser category.

As RCL casino club members, we can say that it has nothing to do with the Casino, that we've been told!

Yes, the ski run. I could never stand and peer over that cliff attempting to jump

off of it with set of skis and no parachute now! And just calling that level

"black diamond" would still remind me of that wild run! Good thing I am sticking to

cruising as a sport now. Bring on the perks...not the broken legs. :D

I agree.

I wonder if there is an intermediate level between D+ and Pi, if the CL gets too crowded will it be limited to Black Diamonds, Pinnacles and Suite guests.

There have been many rumors circulated over the last couple of years that D+ may eventually be uninvited from the CL. Nothing official has ever been said, so your guess is as good as anyone else's.

Considering the big backlash Royal got when they kicked out the Diamond guests, I'm thinking they will let it go as long as they can before doing so again.

I was a frequent Carnival guest back then, and I recall the many Loyal Royals that made their way over to CCL during that.

Not every cruise had DLs and CLs that are bursting at the seams. On EN a couple months ago both lounges were very lightly populated in the evenings. And on cruises where there are high numbers of D, D+ and PC, the overflow lounge handles everyone just fine. I think they need to leave the program alone, but that's just my two pennies.

Excellent comment, and that is the difference as you and Pete both wear yours with Pride, and that is how it should be. And you know from the many hours we have enjoyed your company that we would never shun you xx

To Pin or not to Pin, to Lanyard or not to Lanyard -- these are the mighty decisions we all face when we cruise. :D

Don't shun me because I do, and I promise the same in return. :p

I think one of the main reasons they're doing the new voucher system is to eliminate the need for over flow lounges.

Yes because they then reduce usable space for the rest of the ship passengers

Spread us around uses all space equally

On our EN cruise last week, the CL was very crowded. And that lounge has a problem with that full wall bank of windows if the sun is coming in from the aft which can make it quite warm in there, so we ended up using the almost empty DL each evening and were the only ones in there at times.

Why, thank you, kind sir! The feeling is more than mutual, and may I just say, it's been too long. Greetings to the Mrs. :)

It's interesting to see what this thread has evolved in to. The answer was early on though. Black Diamond is a Travel Agency who frequently does group cruises.

It has taken from March 19th until know to find that out.
