#1Nanna Posted March 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Can someone please share your experience, good or bad with an inside cabin next to a launderette. I am wondering if there is a lot if noise from washers/dryers or door slamming? I am really only worried about this at night. Thanks!
Colo Cruiser Posted March 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Can someone please share your experience, good or bad with an inside cabin next to a launderette. I am wondering if there is a lot if noise from washers/dryers or door slamming? I am really only worried about this at night. Thanks! Usually very quiet. Is it a balcony accross the hall or an inside?
Times Prince Posted March 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2014 We had a balcony cabin across the hall from a laundry and had no problems with noise.
zahav1 Posted March 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2014 I've been twice across from a laundromate, not next to it, but never heard anything or saw anyone, it's always so quiet.
rjack22 Posted March 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Are not the laundries closed at night? I thought they were locked up at a certain time. I could be wrong though (smile).
Anniesails Posted March 21, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 21, 2014 laundry closes at 10 pm
Ferndale Girl Posted March 21, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Never had a problem with it and in fact try to get a cabin close to one - very convenient on a longer cruise if washing is necessary. On short cruises it is nice to be able to pop in and touch something up with an iron. I've never heard anything out of the ordinary.
dancing lady Posted March 21, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 21, 2014 I don't mind being near the laundry room, as the OP said, it's convenient to touch up clothes that wrinkle without having to go far. They do close at 10:00- forgot how early they open, though. Never had a complaint with noise.
waltd Posted March 21, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 21, 2014 OP is asking about an inside cabin next to the laundry room. Is there noise from the machines/water running that you can hear through the walls.
dw64 Posted March 21, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 21, 2014 We had an issue with loud noise, called the pursers desk, they came & took care of the issue.
#1Nanna Posted March 21, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Thanks so much to everyone for your quick responses! I was not aware that the laundry room closes at night, that would make a huge difference I'm sure. I went ahead a booked an inside cabin next to laundromat for our 10 day Mexico cruise on the Star - Jan 2015 : )
pablo222 Posted March 21, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Thanks so much to everyone for your quick responses! I was not aware that the laundry room closes at night, Whether a particular laundry room closes at night, or is open 24 hours varies by ship and location. beg3yrs Posted March 21, 2014 #13 Share Posted March 21, 2014 The biggest issue we ever had with close proximity to a laundry room was the noise generated by loud conversations just outside the laundry room door. It doesn't happen often. If it does get too loud, just poke your head out of your cabin door and add a comment about their topic. They'll get the message. cruznliz Posted March 22, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 22, 2014 I mistakenly booked an inside cabin right next to a laundry room once. I could have sworn the deck plan I was looking at was different! In any event, we didn't hear a thing. :D
GweninTX Posted March 22, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 22, 2014 Very very quiet!
eandj Posted March 22, 2014 #17 Share Posted March 22, 2014 If you were going on a 2 week or longer cruise itinerary, there would be more use of the facilities. In your case, I wouldn't worry too much. As stated, the laundries close pretty early. I like to sleep in on sea days. So that would be the time I'd worry. Anything before 8 a.m. would not be good for us.;)
Gimer Posted March 22, 2014 #18 Share Posted March 22, 2014 Grand's Laundry opens at 8 am and closes at 10 pm. Can not hear it in the walking area at all.
