By any chance... do you have a shirt that says you cruise for the chocolate melting cake?

We made the very first of these shirts in 2006.

By the way, this is a good point to post the scaled down recipe. It makes 6 servings. One must bake this cake by observation. When it looks done, it is done. I usually cook it about 11 minutes. If one knows much about baking, one will see the reason it is "melty" is that there is just enough flour to hold it together.

We scaled Carnival's recipe down but couldn't help but share it in its original

form. Serving 90, it called for 8 pounds of dark chocolate, 8 pounds of butter, 80

eggs, 5 pounds of sugar and 5 pounds of flour!

This kitchen-friendly version will make 6 individual cakes. Make sure that the

eggs are at room temperature and chocolate is still warm when combining.

Ingredients

1/2 lb dark chocolate

1/2 lb butter

5 eggs

1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp sugar

1/4 cup less 2 tbsp flour

1. Melt the chocolate and butter together.

2. In a separate bowl, mix the eggs and sugar; whisk for a few minutes, then add

the flour.

3. Add the egg mixture to the melted chocolate and mix.

4. Pour the mix into greased individual serving dishes. Bake in the oven at 200

degrees Celsius (between 375 and 400 Fahrenheit) for 12 minutes.

5. Enjoy warm! Serve with premium vanilla ice cream

I knew I recognized your signature from a t-shirt. Once seeing your signature. I immediately recognized that we sailed together on the Carnival Magic. I hope all has been well since then

A lot of people say they like chocolate but not the melting cake. I expect they like a lighter version of chocolate, like regular chocolate cake or milk chocolate. The melting cake is a strong rich chocolate flavor. If you like strong rich chocolate, you'll probably love it.

I am not a fan and I love chocolate! I have tried it a few times thinking maybe I had just tried it on a bad night, but I do not like it at all. My daughters on the other hand love it and order it for dessert at every meal.

Bitter and Blanc and WCMC (with two scoops of vanilla ice cream) are my DH and my favorite desserts! Can't wait until Oct to have them again, it has been far too long!

I do understand however, that not everyone would like WCMC. To each their own. We all have different tastes, thank goodness!! Variety is the spice of life after all!! :D
