Is your cabin type/area that important to you?

I see a lot of posts on here people asking/complaining/ or having to have a certain cabin.

 

Is it that important to you?

 

Personally if I am on the ship I am happy. I sleep in the cabin and shower. I don't really care what the cabin is.

it is to me. mid ship, mid deck (or lower), balcony. i'll never book anything less than balcony. im possibly making an exception for wanting to try for aft balcony on our future cruise. doubt i can get DH to agree to how much more they are, though. if not, then its a cove balcony, for sure!!

 

we use our balcony, so its not a waste for us. a lot of people find it a waste because they're not in their room enough for it and all they need is an interior or OV.

 

mid deck or lower: the higher you are, the more you'll feel the ship move. some people dont mind it, others do. while it doesnt bother me, i just prefer not to feel it.

 

mid ship: again, motion of the ship.

 

and i also prefer starboard side

 

 

im also a bit freakish with numbers, so i also wont have a cabin number unless it either ends in a 5 or 0. preferably one with a 5, but i'll compromise with the 0 (multiple of 5) and i know the ending in 0 is port side, but its an easier compromise if there are no starboard sides with 5 endings. im weird that way LOL

I totally agree with you. We spend very little time in cabin, just sleep and shower (occasionally an afternoon nap) When we book I tell our PVP destination and cabin don't matter we're just ready to cruise.

I prefer balcony cabins because it's a nice place to relax in the morning, and before bed...without whatever may be going on in the main deck areas. It's a nice perk.

 

I like choosing a floor that is between two floors of cabins, so I am not directly below the Lido deck, or directly above the atrium/dining rooms/bars/etc.

 

I like choosing the room location as well. I avoid being right by the doors between the elevators and the rooms, as it's a high traffic area and is prone to a lot of noise most of the day and night. I also avoid being directly across from the laundry room -- same reason, noise.

 

It's obviously impossible to control ALL the possible interruptions and annoyances, but I try to avoid the obvious ones. I still pack earplugs, and refuse to let other people ruin my vacation. :)

As long as there are no dance clubs or all night venues over my head, I'm good. Prefer balcony, but will take an OV - don't think I could do an inside. I get claustrophobic just thinking about it for some reason.....breath, breath....

Yes, location is important to us. Hubby is a light sleeper so we pick areas where it will be somewhat quiet. I check out what is on the decks above and below and away from the high traffic areas.

Yes, it is that important to me. The type of cabin (OV, Balcony, Suite) as well as the location (which deck as well as fore, aft, or mid) and surroundings (what's above, below, and to either side of my cabin) are all important to me.

 

But I appreciate that there are others who don't care about any of that and even others who like something completely different from what I like in a cabin. That all just means there are less people I have to 'fight' for the cabin I want.;)

Call me spoiled... but I have to have either an ocean suite or grand suite.

I have been cruising for 24 years. Started out with inside cabins.. and yes had our kids in the fold down upper berths.. very cozy back then.

But now, I don't want to spend a week in a cabin that is smaller than my bathroom at home. I want more of a hotel room atmosphere. But that's me.

Ha!:p It's good to hear I'm not the only number weirdo!:o For me, it's gotta be an odd number. But I'll make an exception for numbers ending in 0 and for palindromes (such as 8008).:cool:

Three cruises and we've always gotten a balcony. Cost saving this time we've booked a French Door interior. Hoping for some price reductions so we can upgrade to a balcony. Last time we kept upgrading due to price drops, and got an aft. However if we end up with the FDI I'll be okay with that as I can get fresh air and light.

Went for inside to balcony and would have a tough time going back. ;) went from a cove to lido last cruise. I would do cove again just because I loved being close to the water. Otherwise, lido is the way to go. Worth the few extra $ to me.

We LOVE LOVE the Lido balconies.

Love the convenience to grab coffee in the morning, and enjoy the sunrise.

Grab a Guys Burger after coming back from port and enjoying it out there.

Love sitting out there while getting ready for the night, with a glass of wine.

Love sitting out there before bed, with another glass of wine ( or FIVE ):eek:

Love listening to ocean while falling asleep.

I like my cabin to be reasonably spacious so that we don't have to walk sideways. But we really only spend time sleeping there so do not need any facilities for sticking around for any length of time

 

I am sure a balcony is very nice but I prefer to be on deck socialising with other passengers. A balcony would be great for sailing up the Guidecca in Venice but only if on the correct side. Much easier to do on deck, within earshot of a passenger who can point out all the important buildings.

It is Very important to me what cabin I have and where it is located. On a scale of

1 - 10, it's a 9 !! :)

I won't cruise without a verandah. I have to be able to get fresh air and I like a place

to 'escape' to for quiet. :)

We spend time in our cabin and on our balcony, so yes, it's important. Neither dh nor I use the pool or sunbathe, and we'll have an (as in one) evening drink in a lounge and go to an event or two, but that's it. We only eat in the Lido or room service, so our meals are fairly quick by choice. During the day, we'll spend time in the library reading, or in our cabin.

We crusie exclusively with HAL in Alaska on only three of the 4 Vista-class ships because these ships have the only two covered corner aft-wrap suites that we enjoy. We book early and pay a premium price for this location.

My husband has mobility problems so we prefer a mid-ship cabin close to elevator.

Our budget only permits inside or obstructed view so that also determines cabin type. We did get free upgrade to balcony once and upsell to balcony once but fortunately those were mid-ship.

 

If it weren't for his mobility problems we wouldn't care where our cabin was located. We are heavy sleepers so don't care what is above us.
