So the officer in charge of ship maintenance showed up at 5:30pm to look at the balcony door. I pointed out that no matter what I did, it opened and closed at will. I also pointed out that the shower door had no gasket on the bottom at all which made the leaking worse…and that the hinges on the door over the drawers in the closet were loose and missing screws. He asked when we would be leaving our cabin and we said 6PM…he said leave it with me. It’s now 10PM and none of the above have been fixed. We did find a 6” long wooden piece on our desk..perhaps it is a wedge of some sort to fix the door???? Not happy with their response. BTW, he agreed that the furniture was not designed for a ship that pitches and rolls…nothing they can do about that…it was HQ decision on furniture. One wonders if anyone in Celebrity HQ has a clue as to what actually happens on a ship….

Show tonight was new and good….featured the full troop singing and dancing. Second Formal night, but as suggested by another poster, I guess they only give out the oreos on the first formal night….IMHO, just cheap.

Qsine tomorrow night….

There are many inexpensive solutions to the drawer and closet issues...I think no one in HQ cares...or they are fearful of spending any $'s in today's cost cutting environment. Heck for $15 retail, I could buy the needed latches at West Marine...and celebrity would probably be able to acquire them for a dollar or two directly from the manufacturer. I'd be glad to send someone in celebrity the part number....

Good luck with repairs..glad the show was good...have you been to the gym..?...we hope it is being kept up with on M class ships...cruising on Connie in a few months,,,

for Nov on Reflection we will bring the tape and a small all purpose tool. Have also decided we will reject any frayed, ripped or worn out towels and ask for AQ sized towels...

do they still deliver the cheese or snack plates in late afternoon.?

Hi thanks for your extensive account of your cruise we left after the first leg at Harwich after being on deck 11 in the bay of biscay, all the same problems with shower doors and drawers, even had a glass of water fall on my face during the night ahhh! Found the noise from air con and vibration uncomfortable but after reporting it was told it was normal rubbish! Flooded balcony all the time no drainage. Had some really long waits in Blu one night 1hour 40 mins at which point they got Head of all Restaurants to speak to us. They were allowing suite guests in as well therefore already overstretched staff unable to seat

guests! We were booked on Infinity for Alaska Sept 2015 and last week Celebrity cancelled it explanation ship has been privately chartered! Managed to change and made our feelings known.

Hope your cruise does not leave you needing a holiday.

Enjoying your reports very much. We were also on the Infinity crossing last Oct. and survived the storm!! It was a rough couple of nights . Glad it has settled down. I actually enjoy it in the daylight hours but need my sleep.

My question to you is .." do they still have lots of trivia?" We enjoyed it last fall and hoping they have it on the Connie crossing next month. We heard that with the staff cutbacks they may not .

We're also on this transatlantic sailing. Have an S1 Sky Suite, cabin 6145. Fantastic cabin (bathroom is to die for), but we've found that some things are not like we read on CC. Today is partly cloudy but warm and calm seas (esp compared to the very rocky seas we had several days ago).

Hi GO-BUCKS!

Sweet :D

6145 has a nice location, but being at the aft in rough waters guess it hasn't been as fabulous as it could have been in smooth

Hopefully things will settle down for you guys for the rest of the cruise

Any more news on your impending arrival in Bermuda ?

Cheers!

Talk about what X management should know, I would think people would guess that cabins aft, on the highest deck on the ship, in a place that was not designed to have cabins, would not be too stable. IMHO the M class ships were ruined when those cabins were added and the fun factory was put in the observation lounge.

We had to cancel this and the next cruise because of Barbara's illness.

We had gotten a great gaureente price as well as inexpensive choice air. First now putting in for insurance refund which we hope wont be a problem. Following the troubles you've had and hope the cruise improves. Glad we can follow this cruise that we wanted to be on.

WE were also supposed to do a river cruise in August...and our insurance made us whole except for $200 air line fees.

i think everyone has to decide their cruise line and what "class" to sail themselves. I can only report what we are experiencing...not recommending that anyone change cruise lines. We are already booked on some other cruise lines...but given industry changes, I'm not sure what to expect on those lines.

Celebrity still has a good offering..it's just changed, even in the past year, for what we perceive as not as good as before. I suspect we aren't alone..but then again Celebrity is going after a different younger demographic....clearly they failed on this cruise.

In any case...we now have confirmation that we really are going to Bermuda....not sure what to expect when we get there...but that's our next port of call.

GH

I was wondering if maybe because TA's sell for so much less then regular cruise's that X didn't just cut back on entertainment etc. for those cruises to offset the lower prices. No idea really, just a thought...

That crossed my mind too...

Along with the idea that perhaps NEW Contracts / Performers would start here in NA for the Winter Season.

But GHSTUDIO is far from the first to report a decrease in activities / entertainment across the fleet

I am anxious to see what is in place on Connie when we sail in December and compare it to our past Celebrity cruises in 2012 & 2013

Cheers!

We are on the Equinox on the 27th and the only "entertainment" we might be interested in is some really good lectures. Otherwise we make our own entertainment lol. None of the reg stuff interests us at all ie: trivia, harps, Capella groups or piano players. But a hopping Martini Bar..........yes

Hi Christine! Pam from Silhouette last summer (Med. cruise). I bet you've been on 50 cruises since then. I'm on Infinity in 6 months, so reading this thread. Hope you and DH are well.

Was it always this way Christine? When we are on ships frequently, not that many shows I want to see three times. Although if they were new I would. Not a criticism,it's just what happens if I am in the same line. After we realized this we enjoyed the smaller venue entertainment. When the talent is thin there we are happy to read. We also enjoy good lectures and classes.

PORT CHANGE: We are not stopping in Lisbon (presumably because of weather). They are trying to decide where we are going instead….or if we are just heading towards Bermuda which has a category 4 hurricane bearing down. Net…we have no clue where the ship will stop next; we have no idea what provisions they were planning to load in Lisbon, etc. On the positive side, we are rocking and rolling less now, presumably due to a change in course to avoid weather.

Good show tonight..comedian. Went to Blu immediately after the 7pm show and just avoided the rush, so no waiting tonight. Good dinner. We will exchange our welcome on-board champagne tomorrow in Blu (sommelier said OK). Our friends asked the cabin steward and he changed the champagne to wine for them.

We do have some mysteries. Last night we found chocolate covered oreos on our pillows; tonight nothing. Our friends who are elite received a fresh rose for their room….we are elite plus and just four doors down from them and received nothing. We had a cruise critic cabin crawl and some cabins had towel animals, and some (including ours) have none.

The captain’s club event worked tonight because of the weather….some apparently skipped although it’s amazing how many appear for a free drink. More hors d’0evers were passed tonight than last night.

I had a sushi snack…they had mostly rolls or handrolls..tuna and eel as well as vegetarian and fake crab for California rolls. It was OK, but the selection on the solstice class ships is much better.

We’ve had a couple of maintenance problems in our cabin but they were taken care of almost immediately….well done.

We are also having a mystery in our cabin! Since my handle on CC is Go-Bucks!, someone has been leaving gifts hung on our cabin door that are all related to Ohio State University football! They're all so cute and very appreciated, but it's a mystery as to who could be leaving these. If the "gifter" is reading this, we'd like to thank you - please stop by for a visit on the balcony!! :D:D

Yesterday the captain confirmed that we are going to Bermuda!! Yay! Our previous rocky seas were because we had to go thru the remnants of Hurricane Fay and were in the Bay of Biscay. Luckily we're in nice weather now. :)

Ahhh, so cute you guys have a Secret Santa...

What a fun puzzle.

I hope if they are reading this that they continue the game... But maybe leave you clues to their CC identity... So you might guess who they are.

Cheers!

I can certainly find some things that catch my eye

Lol, biggest issue is too many of the ones i like happen at the same time

Well, our experience is quite different from ghstudio's - we're having a great time and taking the "small things" in stride. Despite ghstudio's rather negative slant on nearly everything, us and all the folks we talk to are enjoying the cruise and have plenty to do each day. We're really having fun at the daily watercolor art classes! Been to the spa a few times and do the Persian Gardens/hot tubs daily; so relaxing! Great food and friendly staff (including officers) who say hi to us constantly. Glad we ended up in Ponta Delgada - was a cool place. Time for dinner. :D
