We are REALLY enjoying this thread! We are sailing Eurodam on the 30th and haven't sailed in 9 years so just soaking up all the info we can! :p

 

Question: I read the "On Location" bulletin.

 

"Bunkering Fuel Notice

Please refrain from smoking on the

designated smoking areas on the outside

decks, including your balcony, throughout

the entirety of our time in Ft. Lauderdale.

We will be loading fuel and smoking is a

serious safety hazard." :eek:

 

So where CAN we safely smoke during this time? :confused:

I don't know. I'll see if I can find out for you. I have to imagine there's somewhere. Either that, or the sail-away is sponsored by Nicoderm. ;)

No smoking anywhere when bunkering.

 

We have been on a few ships where they have moved the aft lido smoking area to the other side of the ship during bunkering. However, I think that does break the rules.

The casino is closed, so you can't play there and smoke.

 

So boarding/turn around day in FLL and maybe in many ports can be quite frustrating for smokers.

 

If it's a big withdrawal thing going on, smokers might want to invest in an ecig. which can be smoked in your stateroom. Not sure if they would be allowed on decks. Probably not, as it would look like you are actually smoking.

This is probably duplicate information, but I just called the concierge to check, and Fort Lauderdale is completely non-smoking, both inside and outside the ship. It's not just the ship's policy. Evidently, it's a Port Everglades thing.

You've probably been there, but heading to the far side of Cozumel and eating at Chien Rio is one of our favorite cruise memories. We haven't been there in a while, but the Trip Advisor reviews are still really good. Love that place. If you go, lift a glass to us Texans!

Huskerchick wore a purple dress and black satin Jimmy Choo evening heels. and I wore my tux with a vest and big boy bow tie that I tied all by myself!

 

The wrist corsages that you pre order on the website are very nicely done. I ordered a red one, but it was a white rose, deep pink Gerber daisy, and a pink carnation. Absolutely nothing like the picture, but lovely nonetheless. (Gentlemen: Order this for your sweetie. She will like it. The other kids will be jealous, which she might like even more. :) )

What's Not For Dinner:

 

We are going to Le Cirque night in the Pinnacle this evening, so the menu at the link is not what we're eating. However, since I have it scanned, here you go. We're totally depressed that we're missing the "Warm Espresso Prune Cake" that's on the dessert menu. Any time you can end dinner with something that both makes you alert and keeps you regular, I say go for it!

I think this is the norm in all ports now. The same restrictions were there when we sailed from Buenos Aires in 2011 and Boston in 2013.

no where. The only inside location is the Casino and since smoking is only permitted when you are playing it's not available since the ship is in port and the Casino is not open.

I'm not POA; I'm not even on his cruise. But I can answer this question for you, Patrick.

 

Unless there is some emergency that prevents it, every HAL cruise sails with a Catholic priest on board. He celebrates Mass daily for the passengers, says Masses for the crew, and tends to the spiritual needs of anyone who has them.

 

I have been on a couple of cruises where there was no priest assigned. In both cases there was a priest sailing as a passenger who stepped up to fill the void. That is typical.

He's very good. We only caught part of a set, but he's very entertaining and his audience liked him. We're not really big "piano bar people," so we're not really the most qualified to judge. All things considered though, we thought he was very good. We'll probably have a chance to see a full set tonight.

 

Please don't take my short report as a negative. We were trying to cover a lot of ground and the timing just didn't line up for the piano man.

Yes, there usually is. Several of the clergy members that serve on the HAL ships post here on CruiseCritic.

Question - Are they finally putting creme fresh with the caviar as described on menu? They didn't last month on Eurodam but it was delish :).

We haven't had our caviar fix yet. It's not on the menu for Le Cirque night. I'm sure we'll manage to squeeze it in one of these nights. I'll report back.
