Legend of the Seas: December 15, 2014

Intro:

We booked this last May while we were on Jewel's re-positioning cruise. It was nine nights, with scheduled stops at Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire and Jamaica.

This was my first time on Legend although I had been on two of her sisters, Enchantment and Vision. Legend and Splendour were the first two built of the Vision Class, and are different than the rest. They are smaller, and their deck plans are noticeably different.

Legend's main theater is only one deck tall, very small by modern standards. The show lounge that would normally be at the aft end (usually used for karaoke and comedy shows) is forward, above the theater. The Schooner Bar, Casino and gym are also very small. The gym's poor placement causes it to becomes a cut-through for people heading to an aft sun deck. This is bothersome for guests actually working out, and it was redesigned on later ships in the class. The main pool deck and Solarium are about the same size and layout as the newer Vision Class ships.

RCI has also added a Diamond Lounge and a Concierge Lounge to the area between the pool and Solarium. They are identical, save for the slightly different decor. They both have big panoramic windows, a guest computer and an espresso/latte/cappuccino machine. The lounges are very nice, and were usually able to hold the nightly crowds. As with most ships, they get busiest in the first hour of the nightly cocktail party before early seating dinner.

Up top is the Viking Crown Lounge. Unlike Vision and Enchantment, it's only one level. It's also now been split into thirds. The aft section was converted to a Chops Steakhouse, and the port side into an Izumi Sushi. What's left of the actual VCL isn't very big, but it is nicely decorated.

Are those library books locked up? All the time? If so, how do you get them out?

Thanks.

When I was in there during the day the cabinets were unlocked. I don't know if or when they are ever locked. There was a book drop bin nearby, so I suppose it is just an honor system.

One thing I noticed about Guest Services on Legend: there was never anyone in line there! Why? Because they knocked themselves out pleasing all the passengers! I was really impressed with everything about Legend.

This is excellent to hear. We're on the Legend for 11 nights in about a month. Really looking forward to it!

I agree that their guest service was great, although I did see a few occasions when the desk had a long line. I think that's more due to the ship not having the smart tv's or kiosks where guests can check their own bills.

That was great! Thanks for sharing with us!

Thanks, there's still a LOT more to come over the next week or so. I've got a crazy schedule due to the holidays, so it may take awhile.
