Very upset with my call today to CR :( As I mention above I been on Freedom B2B. 1st leg--- 27K points and 2nd leg 14K points. Called CR and ask to check for me sailing 7 days on Allure April 2019 based of my play. Answer: We ONLY can count on your last cruise play and give you balcony if you want JS then you need to pay $1,500 more. CR representative said that she cannot even see my 1st leg play points (don/t know if its true or not).

Also what I didnt like that she asked me several times to use my certificates --- but I completely booked for 2018.

Disappointing report for sure. Always can use the call back later method. Get another person. See what they will do.

It sure seems to me. That ALL casinos are cutting back. Might be that is a message ? "you spend too much time in our casino"

That can be cured.

April is prime season for Royal. Spring Break. I wouldn’t expect them to be able to wheel and deal as much. Maybe try a more off season time.

When I spoke with CR last week, they also told me they could only see the last cruise I was on.

The rule for quite some time has been we have to use our certificates first. Then if no certs they can give us offer based on play. They also may have made an exception for you in the past but now they are tightening up. I have so many unused certificates I can’t keep track of them. Once we get the list of free cruises I have no idea how I’m going to fit that one in. Oh well. Now I’m just focused on making money in the casino and quitting instead of playing for points.

So now, does that mean you will stay signature level whether you get 1200 pts on a cruise or not?

I called CR to use my balcony certificate and questioned when the emails would be coming out to confirm our tier status, and was told the emails should be out by the end of May. They are apparently doing things in stages and by the end of the month (May) the email for the free cruise for your particular tier should be sent out then also. The free cruise is not from a list, it is whatever cruise you want, up to a maximum of 8 nights, as per CR, I guess we will see soon :)

Did they happen to say if there is a time limit on how far out you can book the free cruise? I'm trying to lock up a B2B in early 2020 and it is way too early to use CR certificates as I've only been allowed to book ahead a maximum of one year.

The date of the "notification" depends totally on who you speak with. I was told it would be sent out by the end of this week and also told that they have no idea when because they haven't been told. Very frustrated with this whole mess. I was on b2b cruises on April 1st when the information was supposed to be available and neither the Casino Host or Casino Manager were given any info.

I called yesterday to inquire about my tier and the "Free cruise". The rep told me they cannot tell me over the phone. She said it had something to do with the fact they were rolling out the new tiers and free cruise emails over the course of the next 3 weeks or so, and they don't want to be swamped with calls.

The only thing that seems to be consistent is the inconsistency, LOL!

It’s the same old BS. They claim they know nothing about the new program. I DID see someone’s Sea Pass Card from Harmony with their Casino Level printed next to their C&A status. In one week I’ll be back onboard Enchantment to see if anything has changed there.

One NEW thing CR just told me yesterday is NOW they aren’t STRICTLY saying the certificates we earn onboard have to be redeemed in 30 days. No exceptions. I have many unused certificates more than 30 days old. Oh well.

Let's just hope that if they are strictly enforcing the expiration dates of the certificates that it also works the OTHER way....and that once a certificate has expired, they don't MAKE you use it, anyway. I have heard of others who are saying that if you have an unused certificate (no matter how old) they will make you use the certificate before ANY other kind of discount will be applied. We find the certificates to be utterly useless and have always found that casino discount pricing is the better discount, but if they force you to use an old certificate first then that will mean that we will NEVER get a casino rate again as we both have dozens of unused certificates still on the books. I think they just enforce whatever rule is in their own best interest at the time. It certainly isn't the bargain it used to be. That's for sure.

I haven't been able to get casino rates since the new tiers/program was announced.

And since I get the 150% solo

(with D+ balcony discount) supplement, it is usually cheaper than paying for 2 with a casino rate.

The problem is trying to get an agent that gives you the right 150% rate. I usually have to call back a couple of times to get the right rate.

When I called yesterday, I was told that they can't use the 150% rate with a free cruise certificate when you are upgrading from an inside to a balcony.

I was on the phone with them yesterday - and they are now computing all upgrades from certificates at 200 per cent for solos - even when we only pay 150 percent - and their price formula for the upgrade is much higher than the promotions Crown and Anchor have up right now.

I was also told effective May 14 all certificates must be used in 30 days or be forfeited. The combination of all these changes and their repricing that they do when using certificates have made certificates worthless, especially if you book cruises when itineraries are announced, and prices are lower - yet are unable to apply certificates until a year out, and then by repricing the cruise at the current higher price.

Solos, especially got hurt bad, as we no longer get casino rates as our Crown and Anchor rates are cheaper, and now upgrades are being computing at 200 per cent.

The way I understood it was that the 150% rate would still apply to $ off certificates but not to upgrading free cruise certificates. Yesterday when I called 3 times, I got 3 different prices to upgrade my inside certificate to a balcony. I finally booked when I though I got a fair price. 5 night to Bermuda upgrade to a Obstructive Balcony for $175 + tax and port charges. (at the time I booked, the price for an OV balcony was cheaper than an inside solo, with the sail that was going on, but I was told the casino has their own rates) On my previous calls, I was quoted up to $700 more to upgrade.

I have also found that most of the agents have no idea what the 150% is or how to get the right price.

Gayle that's a very good price - I was told that a cruise with an inside certificate to upgrade to 2c balcony would be $600

- plus the port taxes - even though crown and anchor prices had only a small difference between the 2. I tried several times with different operators and got the same answer - no 150 per cent and they compute the upgrade price thru their own pricing mechanism - not crown and anchor. So I used a balcony certificate instead for the 1,000 discount and paid just $162 plus the taxes. It was for an 8 night Bahama cruise.
