$10 minimum bets for roulette now standard on carnival?

This is great news. Tables will be less crowded. When I walk up to the roulette table to play $50-100 a spin 3-4 times, I will not have to reach around guys sitting there chain smoking for hours playing 5-$1 chips.

I wish they would raise blackjack and craps to $15-25. You should be there to make money, not to burn time. You cant make any money 5 bucks at a time.

I did well at Roulette on the 5/31 Conquest Premier cruise. Min was $5. There is a sign at every table showing the minimum. Hard to make a $5 minimum bet with $2 chips so you're usually playing a minimum of $6 anyway. What's two more chips? Just increases your odds if you play other numbers with them.

 

From what I've seen, the vast majority of people playing put down considerably more than 3 chips per bet. That may just be because of the Premier sailings. I only started playing Roulette on my 11/28 Freedom cruise and that was also a Premier sailing. Same thing there.

 

There were many players who would start with $100, blow through that in a half-dozen spins, throw down another $100, win a bunch, give it all back in another few spins, throw down another $100, over and over in the course of an hour or two. I rarely saw these players just cash out when they were up.

 

I'm one who starts with a certain amount and if I lose it all, I'm done for the day. If I'm up when it's time to go do something else (or go to bed), I take my chips to the cabin and lock any black chips in the safe to cash out at the end of the cruise!

 

I'll use the others to add to my daily allowance.

 

I came home with a wad of cash, didn't even use my entire gambling allowance, didn't use all the gift cards I'd taken to apply to my S&S, and only had a $50 balance due on my S&S at the end of the cruise. :D

 

Next cruise is a "regular" sailing but the one after that is another Premier. It will be interesting to see if there are differences in the min bet and the way people play (I realize every cruise will be different, whether Premier or not).

If you're serious about roulette, you should be complaining more about lack of $1 chips. Only providing $2 chips is an incredible disadvantage to the player.

The Freedom in May out of Galveston was $10 minimum on Roulette.

Something to consider. A year or so ago I was on the Triumph playing blackjack. The table minimum was $6. What I found out was that I could play a $5 chip on the inside bet and a $1 chip on the outside bet and that counted as meeting the minimum table play of $6. So basically, as long as you have the minimum bet anywhere on the table then you will be good to go. You may have to ask for the $1 chips (I believe they are white) and I am pretty sure they have them. Tell the dealer you want some singles to tip with. I bet they will cough up some $1 really quick.

Remember this concept. Lower the price of the cruise, and once on board, increase the price of everything else. It's a balance, and Carnival needs to recoup the revenue lost on low fares.

My husband going with me is what makes cruises fun for me. and once he gets irked, which is seldom, he is as stubborn as a mule. this is a game changer for him. he likes to go to Cedar key and the House of the Mouse too. and I fear INSTEAD of going on vacation on a cruise.

Been on the Sunshine twice, last November and this March. It was $10 each time for Roulette. I don't play Roulette so don't care but I will say the table rarely seemed crowded. I'm surprised they didn't change it. When it wasn't crowded. I wish they would bump up craps when it gets crowded at night.

Unless I am wrong, well it does happen once in a while :), the house wants to see at least $10.00 of your money out on every spin. IOW with two dollar chips you would have to cover up five numbers or any combination there of.

 

Also I believe it would be $10.00 minimum on the outside bets.

he grew up on the Northside of Jacksonville, Florida. Back then that was the rough side. he said every crap game he saw always ended up with knives coming out. he went to college because he could kick a football real good, so he is not a sissy. But the memories linger........................

Good suggestion through. I wish he would learn to play Bridge. That is cheap. Competitive. fun. but he does not seem to think so

I don't play the tables, but I love to play the slots. Don't expect to win, and know eventually I will lose all the money I set aside to play with. But, I do expect to play awhile, and have fun. On the Pride last Feb, I noticed that on the slots now, they have blocked off the lower bet buttons. They force you to bet more money on each spin. I'm rather disappointed in that.
