Information without bias:

The Captain has not given any updated ETAs re: Port Canaveral arrival. Conferencing between ship and home office is happening.

Most *visible* damage appears to be cosmetic to a lesser or greater degree.

Weather is nice, but chilly.

Seas are okay.

Most of the food venues are now open. Although Cafe Promenade (being the only place open for a couple of hours is wiped out last I looked.

Lines are pretty much non-existant at Guest Services which indicates to me that people are being remarkably understanding.

Some of the bars are open.

Here are some pix I took around the ship. I think the FB link will work:

Can't see them, I think you have to make them public or something. Not a FB person so not sure. Thanks for posting all the updates.

You're wasting your breath. tbill has been complaining about her upcoming Anthem cruise and Royal on every thread possible. One day it was a rant that included her intent to share a drink package to coming back the next day with a claim that they've been upgraded to a suite.

Thanks for the tip. :p There's no point in even responding to that person.

This thread is amazing, and an example of why lots of folks I know have stopped coming to this forum.

To the folks on the ship, thank you for posting and I am glad that you have made it through the worst of the storm! I hope that there are no serious injuries and that your cruise can continue, but as mentioned, the ship will undergo a thorough inspection once in port.

I know nothing of piloting a cruise ship and I am not a meteorologist, but I have a huge respect for this captain. Just the effort to keep the ship in one place and in the best position to handle the wind and waves must have been a full time job!

Various reasons. I thought it was extremely cheap of them to only gave us a small shipboard credit for one night lost - we paid more for that one night than the credit. Not to mention the enormous itinerary change and the decisions they made around that. Also because of Jonas, the supplies were missed and they had to pick up supplies at other ports so when we ate at Chops, a paid restaurant, they served us sub par steaks and wheat bread (this was towards the end of the cruise so they probably were running low on supplies). My last 2 nights I tried ordering salads at Silk and the vegetables were old and slimey.

I love cruises and we are diamond members with RC, also we were on the Quantum last year and have always had wonderful expiriences, however this particular trip it felt like they really cheaped out.

wait, are you complaining about itinerary change in this discussion? that would actually be funny, but its not.

This was posted on the other thread...such wisdom!

"Its better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt !"

I applaud the Captain and crew for handling themselves and the storm with capable hands.

Just walked around the entire ship. I can confirm most damage appears cosmetic and mostly in outdoor areas. Crews are hard at work repairing things like the deck 14 ceiling that got busted. A couple of carpets near doors pretty soaked. Couple plants in the solarium ripped/fell out. couple destroyed plants and fixtures outside. All things like that.

I noticed that our balcony chairs didn't really even move throughout this whole ordeal!

It was bad, but the ship took it like a champ. Crew is clearly tired but working tirelessly. I hope they get some sleep tonight!

I couldn't see if this was mentioned yet, but our tentative ETA to port Canaveral is sometime early in the morning...

Just happy that things are much better today for all on board!

Agree, that the ship will have to be inspected when it finally docks in Port Canaveral.

Very interesting to see the information regarding the listing factor. We were on Navigator during Hurricane Katrina sailing back to Miami. The listing seemed extreme, as it was like walking up a very steep hill. Still nothing as bad as what was experienced last night!

Thanks for sharing the all of the information on the storm during a very difficult time. I hope all of you will soon be enjoying warm weather and relaxing in the sun.

This is only my opinion and in no way is it meant to contradict anyone who has posted previously. As to the path of the storm, yes it was forecast days ago and yes it followed the path however...

Up here, north of Boston, we have seen many storms shift their path long before they get to us. This is one in particular. This shift however is not a large shift but for us it makes all the difference in the world. Saturday night we went to bed thinking we were only getting 1-3 inches. We woke up Sunday morning with a report of 6-9 inches and potential blizzard conditions on Cape Cod. That is only about a 50 mile shift in the storm that was more than 24 hours away from us. At the speed it was traveling, that was more than 600 miles away and it resulted in a 50 mile shift inland (or less).

Anthem was closer to the storm than we were overnight Saturday and when the storm shifted, that would have given them far less time to do anything about it.

Many have said the ship should not have left because of the storm. I am sure that if the reports indicated that the winds were going to be more than the ship was designed for, and the wave action was going to be more than the ship was designed for, Anthem would not have sailed.

For most of us following this thread, we are on land and many assumptions have been made. You all have a right to those assumptions and I will not sit in the warmth of my home and say anyone was wrong in their opinion. All I am asking is that we can agree that for whatever reason the ship ended up in the storm that it just went through, the Captain and his crew did a remarkable job in getting the ship and passengers through it and let's wait to hear what those on the ship say about what went on. There are over 5000 witnesses to the event. They will have far more information than any of us on land will ever have about this one specific event.

I am so thankful that everyone has made it through this ordeal and I am anxious to hear their stories.

Deck 7 aft balcony starboard. Just above the lifeboats. Water was smacking at our doors so that was a bit unsettling...

Crazy night and so happy we had the Super Bowl on in our room to distract us.

We did list significantly - don't care about the degree, it was enough that i had to hang on to not fall out of bed :)

It was an uphill battle to get to the bathroom. I sat in the bathroom for a bit as I kept thinking we might overturn and felt panicky about water crashing through the balcony doors. I almost was going to sit in the corridor so if we did tip over at least

That being said, I am not typically a worry wart so this storm emotionally feels like it took five years off my life!

Excellent how the staff is up and about this morning - no one had any sleep and they served a nice, limited breakfast in American Icon. Well done Anthem crew - so proud of you and your outstanding service in duress!

They are having trivia each hour in Schooner bar and casino and some bars are open. No news yet on our fate - we are headed to Port Canaveral but we don't know if we are continuing on etc...

I have been reading the foolish posts of people blaming the Captain. Guys - this came out of no where. He did not purposely sail through it. Yes, we knew there would be bad weather but stop pointing fingers. He was grace under pressure. He tried to keep us up to date and when it got really bad and he couldn't speak because he was navigating the ship out of trouble, the cruise director kept us up to date (let me tell you he spoke with a lot of angst and panic in his voice unlike the captain!!)

Chalking this up to another experience at sea! Yup it really, really sucked and was scary but we made it through!
