SHOCKING! Another price jump

Recommended Posts

I paid $175 for Thanksgiving week and $350 for the 2 week cruise in January. It was $24.99 a day. It went up 5 bucks a day.

You must have prepurchased internet package for your thanksgiving cruise as current prices have been in effect since October. Your price in January has been the new price already (lower price for cruises longer than 12 nights).

Unlimited internet is now $29.99 a day, it was $24.99 in January.

Ok DelFeo cheerleaders, tell me how this is just a wonderful thing and how it benefits everyone. Can't wait to see the responses from people on the internet about how other people should disconnect from the net for a week.

Well let me be the first: Unless you need it for work purposes why does anyone need to be connected? What happened to the days when we took vacation to get away? Our first 3 or 4 cruises we didn't even have TVs in the cabin.

Just because you feel like you need to be disconnected to "get away", not all do. You may want to be disconnected, others do not.

I'm with you on this. I always lock my phone into the hotel/cabin safe as soon as vacation begins.

But, it does suck for those that need to be connected for work/family/peace of mind. At least many of the ports have some cafe/restaurant that offers free wifi?

All my vacations are working vacations so I have no choice about it and my company does pays the bill.......but I also know they will be bit--ing about it to me when they see the higher charge on my company card.

If they make you work while on vacay due to your being indispensable....let them complain about the cost of Internet.....

Who cares.

Must be great to be so valuable to the company though.

Numbers crunching I assume?

I know the bosses do tend to get bent out of shape when the numbers person is out of the office

So let your wallet talk, stop going on NCL, problem solved. I don't know how much internet is on other lines to compare to this. I have never purchased it on NCL, my cell goes in the safe on day one and it comes out on the last day. It is so nice to disconnect every once and a while.

Based on previous posts by this op she has friends and connections onboard apparently and gets all sorts of inside info on Ncl and used to take every Ctn they offered before they were stopped

Or so I've surmised...rightly or wrongly....from her posts

Fees will continue to go up. People will continue to complain about it.

Fees will go up even more. People will complain even more.

Would you like to take a guess what will cause both to stop? Here's a hint: there's a direct correlation between the two and a singular action to bring it to a halt.

We have "sort of" taken an action but because we have cruise certs left we are still on Ncl for now....

However...we refused the "free ubp" as we couldn't drink enough to cover the tips on the "free" package

We refused the sdp because we don't think the specialties are all that special anymore

We refused the excursion credit because...really...4 beautiful beach ports...we don't need an island tour and the only purpose of the free excursion credit is so you book Ncl tours....which I've noticed have only gone up in price ( I watch this stuff line a hawk)

Btw I'm a financial controller too lol

We took the free wifi package to connect with the kids via FaceTime audio but I will also set my Verizon plan up too for $40 because we are responsible parents. Verizon worked perfectly on my gem cruise to the Carib from NYC so I have no reason that it won't again but having 250 minutes of free extra internet time is ok by me

We booked the cheapest deck 5 midship inside because it's pleasant there and convenient plus we all travel quite often and prefer to spread the wealth around....as in Italy land vacays too

We booked the better priced better itin gem over the ba because of the ridiculous engineering layout and excessive casino smoke and lack of cozy venues on the ba

Ok so we aren't going to cause Ncl to go bankrupt....

But we are getting and incredibly low priced 8 day repo on the gem from NYC to San Juan and 4 great ports for under 2m including airfare back

That is a horrendous price, glad we have no reason to use the Internet on board.

Funny that we paid less last night (USD21) here in Buenos Aires, waiting for the Sun, for a meal for two of us than 1 days Internet!! That was a 10in Pizza each and a 1L bottle of Stella Artois!!

1) Why does this shock you? Prices on everything go up.

2) Who cares? It is the freaking internet. This is a cruise! No one on facebook is going to die if you do not check in every day with some lame picture of the drink you just ordered, the cute boy (or maybe girl, I don't know) you just saw, or the free cigarettes that the casino just gave you. Truthfully they ought to charge more than that to weed out the people who don't really need to be on line and leave the limited bandwidth to those who actually actually have a need and not just a want.

3) Some people will always find something to complain about. If cruising upsets someone this much maybe they ought to choose a different vacation option!

The person you quoted obviously didn't get that she works while cruising

It should not surprise anyone that the posters here don't actually read posts. Lol

IMHO the op has a few choices....

Not vacation because she is vital to her company and they can't be without her

Or

Just laugh when the boss gets pissed at the wifi cost and say no problem, I'll just unwire while I vacation

Lol....how pleasant it must be to have such an important job that it can't be left behind or perhaps it's just that she has a bully boss but whatever.....if they don't want to pay for it...they could always restrict the time off....or better yet.....just get someone else to do her job😎
