Splendor & Guys Burgers

I don't know if I would say it's Guy's Burger hate with some people. I think they're good, but that it's, they're good. I like the toppings bar more then the burger really.

I think what gets tiring is people promoting Guy's as like god's gift to food. It's a burger. It's a good burger. Not a great burger, but better then the standard cruise ship burger you might get on a buffet grill that it replaced. It's also fairly thin for a burger, though I guess you can just get two and place them on one bun.

I get it. Royal had honey stung chicken for a long time in the Windjammer Buffet on boarding day and then added it room service menu a while before getting rid of it. You would have thought it was the most wonderful thing on the face of the earth with the hype surrounding it. Umm, it was a processed frozen chicken "pattie" from Tyson LOL! Not bad but certainly not worth all the hype. Now the hype is roast beef sandwiches on the ships with a Park Cafe. People either love them or hate them.

I can definitely say I'm a Guys burgers and Pig and Anchor smokehouse fan though :). Not the BEST burger or BBQ Ive had but for cruise food it's great and included in the price makes it even better. Both would carry a charge on RC.

THAT is good info. I LOVE 5 Guys burgers. And yeah, why folks complaining about a grease bomb? That's what makes an ok burger special. :D

When I'm gonna grill some burgers I don't buy 80/20 hamburger because it's cheaper, I buy it because it's better.

These burgers and fries seem to vary from ship to ship according to some. On Magic, I thoughts they were great and as good as 5 guys. I hope you find the same on Conquest :)

I never got the honey stung chicken worship either. I liked them, they were good, for basically being a chicken tender. But that's basically what they were. I'd take a Guy's burger over them, that's for sure.

I have to say, I DO like the Park Café roast beef sandwiches, I would take them over Guy's (and even more over the honey stung chicken). Thankfully there's no charge for them either.

Oops, I just realized I was "preaching to the choir" lol. :o

Looking at your signature closer, you know exactly what I was talking about  I hope to be on Oasis in '18 just because I've been wanting on one of those ships since they were built and she will be home ported at my favorite port. I'll be sure to try one!

I love a good burger. I rarely eat beef, and I crave cheeseburgers. So when I finally get one, I want it to be everything I've been lusting after.

Other than my very first Guy's, they've been a disappointment. Like I said, I don't want it so charred that it's like eating a chunk of charcoal with cheese on a bun!

Charred is good. Burnt is not.

Anyone who says Guy's burgers are nothing special either A.) Doesn't know how to "eat" B.) hates hamburgers all together or C.) isn't a man....thank you good night ;)

I actually thought it was some of the best food on the ship.

They were cooked perfectly on Magic. Just right. What I cant stand is a burger that is even the slightest on the rare side but I dont want it burnt either. These were really good.

We JUST booked the Splendor tonight! We have been on in once about 2 years ago. I don't keep up with the ships or when they go into dry dock, but I was hoping in the past 2 years a Guys or Blue Iguana was added, since I have been wanting to try both. No such luck :( Oh well, maybe next time!

65 Days til we sail and I can't wait!

Splendor is going to China so I doubt it will ever get Blue Iguana and Guys Burgers

Okay, they do not have Guys on the Splendor - but do they have the chicken strips that the Fantasy class ships have where they serve the hot dogs and regular burgers?

If so, then it is not a bad trade-off.

Just got off the Splendor and no, they did not have the chicken strips on the Lido Grill this time around.

Not a huge fan of Guy's; they seem to vary a lot. On Vista, they no longer had the menu with different varieties. It was a cheeseburger only - no pig patty, no plain jane.

I got fries one day to go with my deli sandwich. Last few times I got a burger, they were so charred I couldn't eat them. I want a cheeseburger, not a chunk of charcoal with cheese on a bun. :(

Don't think Blue Iguana is that special, either. I like the burrito bar on Splendor just as much because they have tortilla chips there. BI doesn't.

Cannot eat those chicken strips. Tried multiple times on various ships. Two bites and my entire mouth felt like it was just coated in cold lard. Ugh.

What I do wish Splendor had is Fish & Chips upstairs instead of the rotisserie. I really don't "do" regular buffet lunches but love the F&C on the Conquest-class ships.

Oh well. I just did #25 on Carnival and I've never gone hungry. I do like my deli sandwiches. Think it's just stupid that they don't have potato chips available, though.

Are you sure about that on the Vista? In Lou the Glue's review he had pictures of Guys and the menu had all of that. Below is the picture from his review.

I love Guy's Burgers and the Blue Iguana burritos! To me, Guy's is on par or a little better than Five Guys. And I've found Guy's to be less greasy than Smashburger -- which has the greasiest burgers I've eaten.

Dave, are you sure you don't have Smashburger and Five Guy's mixed up? Five Guys are very gooey, drippy, greasy burgers while Smashburger is a pretty dry burger, since they smash a lot of the juice out on the grill.

Guy's are so inferior to both S and FG to my taste, I put Guy's somewhere above McDonald's, right around Wendy's - just not worth the effort to stand in line for me.

I thought the Tandoor on Splendor was bleh too, only because they used the same low quality cuts of chicken they use everywhere else on Lido. They did have a nice choice of chutney's though.

Overall, Splendor is one of my favorite ships - I love the casino décor and layout.

I haven't cruised the same ship twice yet, but I would enjoy Splendor again.

If you want good beef on a Carnival ship, the steakhouse is the only answer, IMO.

That's how Guy's was on the Imagination. Smashed thin, ended up looking like pegboard.

Like all else the quality not only depends on the ingredients but the talent of the chef.

I agree with you . I know hamburgers. And i like five guys also. I thought Guys burgers were actually superior to five guys. Nothing like mcdonald's. And the extra fixin bar was very good left nothing else to be desired. Also i like the Blue Iguana burritos. Even though i am not a real fan of mexican food I found this to be very good. Carnival just did this right folks. Give credit where credit is due.:D
