Our 2 week.cruise in oct/nov which travels.down the.western coast of spain and crosses transatlantically to florida.

It just dawned on Mr Wonderful(husband) that football season watching is seriously at risk.

He wanted me to.ask if there is any sort of live football watching on board?? Anywhere???

Please say yes:o

There's a Sports (casino) bar on the vista/signature ships by the casino. Not sure about the smaller ones.

Not sure which ship you are on but we were on Konigsdam during the Euro Cup championships and they broadcast the games on the big screen TV by the pool and we could view them in our stateroom on the TV. The problem, of course, is the times. We live in Germany and our beloved Florida State Seminoles will kick off at something like 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 6 September. Good luck to your hubby (unless he is an Ole Miss fan.):)

Which football? College (probably not), NFL (maybe a national game). If you want to follow your local team think internet and streaming. Of course a 1 PM kickoff in California is a 10 PM kickoff in Europe.

(bold is mine) At the cost of the ship's internet (never mind the speed), it might be cheaper to fly home for the day and watch there!!! Or is Koningsdam's internet better than on the other ships?

I don't recall having much luck finding football on the cabin TV, haven't tried any bars. I think the only US football we've seen on HAL is the Superbowl. They make a big deal about that. I suggest OP set up the DVR. That's my plan for our fall cruise. (Go, Giants!)

Just got off the Koningsdam which corresponded to week 1 of the Olympics. They did not air these anywhere. When I asked about it I was told that NBC was charging a fortune for the rights and HAL opted not to pay for this. This was a HUGE disappointment. I truly had visions of watching them on the giant screen by the pool. With such an international passenger demographic this could have been very enjoyable.

The stateroom TVs and the fitness center TVs have ESPN2 and ESPNU- but not regular ESPN and certainly not US networks. There is no sports bar.

At worst you can watch the games that are on those 2 ESPN networks. Hopefully there will be better broadcast rights available for you.

We were able to watch the NFL football (Packers) at the Sports bar on our Caribbean cruise on the Oosterdam Oct/Nov 2015. They also showed other games as well and the bar was busy (sometimes packed) for those games. Great camaraderie and fun to be had by teasing rival teams. I noticed that the games were also on our cabin tv's. Not sure about on the K. Good luck to your hubby!

Somehow, I don't think OP is worried about Euro football.

Nice idea but streaming sites are usually blocked. I was crushed when I couldn't stream the season finali of GOT.

I was on a series of four cruises, over 39 days, last October/November. I sailed the Med, and ended with the trans-Atlantic, on the Nieuw Amsterdam, which had installed the interactive TV system.

I found that unlike other years, NFL football WAS available every Sunday. :) There was one dedicated station that broadcast a 1:00 PM (eastern) game, followed by the 4:30 PM (eastern) game. Whether the game was CBS or FOX did not matter; the same station switched between the two networks. I believe the NBC Sunday night game was also broadcast, but the time zone difference made it impossible for me to watch, except the very last week.

The games were televised in the Sports Bar, as well as in the cabins.

I would not be at all surprised if the Koningsdam, with the same type of TV system, has the same set-up for football.

At least there is precedent.

What about the World Series? Any chance we'll catch some of it? We're on the Koningsdam transatlantic!

The Koningsdam trans-At doesn't sail until October 24. Shouldn't "The Boys of Summer" have finished the World Series by then?

First game of the World Series is October 25th.

Wow. I honestly did not know that. I don't follow baseball, but do remember years when the World Series ended (7th game, too) around Columbus Day.

The season sure is getting longer.

I have watched many many NFL games on HAL over the years....can't really remember which cruises/ships but for most all of my cruises are outside the USA/ Carib....usa college football/basketball is another matter as don't recall EVER getting any college games.
