Rare patrickmoran Posted January 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2017 I received an email today from Princess looking for volunteers to rebook to a later cruise from Sunday's Regal Princess eastern Caribbean 7 day cruise. They were offering cruise fair as refundable OBC plus upgrade to unobstructed balcony cabin, if available, if we rebooked to a cruise leaving after February 28th. We had booked an obstructed balcony cabin on Emerald deck with $150 pp OBC. For some reason we were subsequently upgraded to an obstructed deluxe balcony cabin right before final payment. So we called and switched to the March 12th western Carib cruise. We got an unobstructed cabin on the Lido deck (L229):) with a total of $1009 OBC per person!

Rare patrickmoran Posted January 6, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted January 6, 2017 How in the world will you use that much OBC in 7 days? Mind boggling. Fortunately, any refundable OBC unspent will be paid back to us after the cruise. Does anyone know how it works when you have refundable ($859pp) and nonrefundable ($170pp) OBC? Did you originally book direct with Princess or through a TA? I am wondering if they make these offers to one type of booking over the other? I use a TA and wondering would Princess come directly to me with such an offer or would they contact the TA? Anyone have any experience either way?? Does anyone know how it works when you have refundable ($859pp) and nonrefundable ($170pp) OBC? Nonrefundable is used first. Then as you continue spending (gratuities, drinks, etc), refundable starts to disappear. Once you get home, watch your mail carefully until the check arrives...it looks like junk mail. Open all envelopes especially the kind that require you to rip off the ends in order to open.
Rare Hlitner Posted January 6, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 6, 2017 If its nonrefundable I just turn DW loose in the jewelry shop :). It is an effective way to quickly get rid of OBCs. Hank

On Dec 1, 2016 I received a refund from Princess for refundable obc from a a cruise I took in November, the amount was $279.76 and it was in a REGULAR envelope. It was NOT one of those junk mail things that you have to "rip the ends in order to open". I am expecting another refund of $306.94 from Princess for refundable obc from a cruise I took in mid-December 2016. When I receive this, I will post a pic of the envelope. Thrak Posted January 7, 2017 #21 Share Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) Can I use the OBC to buy chips in the casino? I might not mind playing on their money. It's part of your folio so just put your card in a slot machine, setup an account, and go to town. If you put a bunch on the card and then play for a while you can cash it out at the window. They will get peeved if you try to cash out without playing though. If you don't know what to do just ask and they will gladly help you to setup your casino account, transfer funds to it from your folio, and assist you with any questions regarding play. I am soooooooo jealous. I finally retired and would love a move-over offer since there is no scheduling issue anymore. Enjoy your FREE cruise. :D Edited January 7, 2017 by Thrak

We had booked a 14 day Asian cruise that was to sale last Oct. Our offer was to rebook two free cruises. Full upgrade on both. We choose a 28 day. OFFER was for any number of days Princess travels. Only limit was we as a couple could not book a family suite. Receiving $9,000 ship board credit (the cost of original cruise). And additional $200 OBC each of us on both cruises. Will be travelling in the most expensive suite, even additional air is covered since we had Princess Air. We still need to plan the second free cruise which is limited to 7 days. No problem we will find one. Just feels like we won the Princess lottery. Both cruises needed to be booked before within one year of cancelling. So we are doing one in 2017 and the second in 2018. Our travel agent was notified and she in turn rechecked the offer and notified us. Our TA with years of experience claims she has never heard of such an offer. Enjoy every minute of your gift, it may be a once in a life time.
kimlovesfl Posted January 16, 2017 #25 Share Posted January 16, 2017 Great you had the flexibility to reschedule. During my working days, I would not have been able to do this. I got the same offer, and we couldn't change our vacation time so close to departure. I work multiple jobs, and already had coverage lined up for the stores where I merchandise, and asking for another week off so close to that one wouldn't have been easy. Hated not being able to take advantage of that awesome offer.
