Would you recommend The Epic?

I have not been on the Oasis but was on the Epic for 2 weeks a couple of months ago and loved it so much we booked another b2b on the Epic in Jan. 2018.

Lots to do, loved the shows, Priscilla and Burn the Floor, loved the Beatles band, always something going on.

We have been on over 30 cruises and several cruise lines and Epic is the first time we have ever booked the same ship 2 years in a row. Can't wait to sail on her again.

I've never been on the Oasis but will be on the Epic for the second time later this year. I'd never been on a mega ship and was concerned I wouldn't like it, but I really loved the Epic. If entertainment is what's most important to you, I think you'll be pleased with Epic's lineup. The Epic seems to be a ship that you either love or hate. Before too long, someone will come along and warn you about the bathroom configuration which seems to be a huge deal for some people. There are only two banks of elevators--forward and aft. Some will say they had to wait several minutes every time they needed an elevator. Personally, I never waited more than 30 seconds to a minute at most. Some will complain about huge crowds; I found there were crowds where you would expect crowds to be and I never found it difficult to find a quiet place if I wanted one. Whether you'll like the Epic will depend on what your expectations are for a ship that size--the Epic's a little quirky. But, I would definitely recommend the Epic! Others may not :p

Have no fear about Epic. I've been on her twice (Europe and Caribbean) and had an awesome cruise both times. That said, with whom are you sailing? It's definitely a ship that is more appealing to adults, although it does have three water slides and NCL's well regarded programs for children. Epic has more of a Vegas vibe, from the size of the spa, Spice H2O, and the casino, to the more adult themes of the shows, like Priscilla Queen of the Desert, which is adults only.

I just sailed the UK's P&O cruises for the first time in December, and I'm going back on one of their adults-only ships in June. If NCL was ever going to do an adults-only ship, Epic would be it.

Good luck with your choice.

Interesting comments. I am going solo. I have been on about 15 or so cruises. Long lines, excess passengers, elevator waits do not bother me at all. Sounds like I will go ahead and book her! Thanks.

I was recently in a studio cabin on the Epic. What I can say is the studio lounge is very nice.

I just recently cruised both ships. Mind you, I liked the Allure better than the Oasis. The Epic will be different for you. I would tell you to sign up for the entertainment when you get on board. You will only ve able to do Priscilla and Burn the Floor online. There really is not a track on Epic as on the Oasis. You will not be able to walk around the outside of the ship as the Oasis (5 deck). Food, make reservations. NCL is a lot different than RCCL when it comes to dinner. My wife and I loved the Teppanyaki and Cagney's. The Brazilian steakhouse is not as good. If you like Asian, the places were excellent. We both like the ice bar on the Epic. Decks 6 and 7 are your main throughfares other than 15. The casino is not as stuffy. Even if you want to enjoy the main dining areas, book a reservation. The nightly buffets are themed. I liked the grill extravaganza buffet. I enjoyed the buffets. The elevators will be different. You will have 16, 8 bow and 8 aft. Which is why deck 6 and 7 will be useful. There is not a ice rink on the Epic. Comedy Club is on both. The theatre is smaller on the Epic. There is more to do on the Oasis for sure. My wife and I like both cruise lines. We booked another cruuse on the Epic. And we have 2 more with RCCL as well.

We've been on both the Alure and the Epic and are booked on the latter in19 days. Loved both ships. You will find things you don't like at either ship but they are the same on any cruise. Sometimes there's too many people, no room at the pool etc. on the Alure there was room at the pool but we had to get there very early, same as on any ship. Entertainment was good on both ships but the Alure's cruise director was excellent. If you are looking for a vacation where nothing goes wrong you won't find it. If something happens just roll with it. At the end look at your experience and judge whether you will do it again. We went on the Sun recently and my wife said she won't go on the smaller ships again, mostly because of the motion and age of the ship.

We've been on both the Oasis and the Epic and loved both. There is tons to do, she is a beautiful ship and I've heard, as a pp said, the studio lounge is amazing.

We did the Epic just my husband and I in the Med and now we've booked her for the Caribbean for our entire family.

Enjoy!

Did both and I thought Oasis was better overall, but only slightly. Epic's layout causes congestion in some public areas. Oasis's neighbourhoods are really great at making the ship feel big, I rarely felt the crowds. Food was better on Epic though.

'Food on Epic was outstanding, especially specialty restaurants. Loved Burn the Floor. Did not like Priscilla. I don't care if I have to wait at an elevator but that seems to be an issue. I hated the bathroom setup. Wouldn't go again. Prefer smaller ships for my money. It's a good ship for those who like different dining experiences and lots of entertainment.

The entertainment was the best part of The Oasis. The track that went all the around was great, too. I hope the entertainment is great on The Epic.

I am also hoping the spa pass is good. Any extra passes that you recommend?

Oasis - 226,000 MT. 6,000 plus passengers, 21 pools and spas including 4 main pools and an adults only Solarium pool.

Epic - 154,000 MT, 4,000 plus passengers, 12 pools and spas including 2 main pools.

We generally prefer NCL over RCI but the Epic is not Norwegians best effort. We are particularly unimpressed by their glass bathrooms. You can draw a curtain to give a little modesty between the toilet or shower and the rest of the cabin but anyone entering the cabin from the hallway, must walk right past those showering or ........

I sailed on Epic in a studio cabin in January, and am booked for the 13-night transatlantic in an H2 Owners' Suite next year. After being apprehensive after reading reviews, the ship and crew quickly won me over. Entertainment was the best I've seen in 28 cruises, and the crew was delightful. I purchased a spa pass for my sailing earlier this year (my first spa pass ever), and was happy to discover that this was the wisest purchase I'd made in quite a while. The thermal suite on Epic is just perfect - a lovely oasis. I was unsure when I booked it, but ended up spending 3-4 hours a day there. If you're remotely interested in the thermal suite, I would wholeheartedly recommend booking it. I hope you enjoy Epic - she's got some quirks, but the overall experience more than makes up for them!

The Epic turned me off of NCL, now I'm going back to the Jade and hope I can find my NCL love again. People love or hate the Epic. I, unfortunately, hated it.

That's too bad. I'm in the love-the-Epic group! Have my second on her this fall. The Jade was my first NCL cruise and it's SO different from the Epic. Hopefully you'll enjoy her more! I'm actually booked on her again next year for a 14-night to Norway, Scotland, and Iceland. :D

I've been on the Epic twice this past year, and cruising her again this December. It's ideal for me, don't mind the elevator situation or the glass shower/toilet. I cruise solo, so I don't have to worry about pleasing anyone else. Loved the entertainment.

We sailed with NCL for the first time last year on the Epic. We booked her again this year and have never booked the same cruise 2 years in a row. I had my Fitbit with me... there were days we did 50 flight of stairs ... rarely took an elevator.

We actually did the upbid call line to the Haven. This year it was worth it to book it out-right. Posh, the entertainment, the dueling piano's were all great! Loved the Thermal Suites!
