Another Suites Question..Embarkation

Got some great feedback about leaving the ship. If you are in a suite do they also make it easier to board the ship? Are your cabins ready earlier? We used to like to go to Bistro on 5 for lunch when we got on. Too bad can't do that anymore!!! Any suggestion for lunch? Is Luminae open?

Thanks

Upon check-in there is a "suite" line. Once onboard you can stop in Michael's Club, introduce yourself to the Concierge and leave any carry on bags there until your suite is ready. Luminae is open for lunch and it's delicious! Enjoy your suite.

As a general rule, the suites are ready about the same time as the other cabins, but in fairness, the higher level suites might get you in a little bit sooner, but not enough to make a real difference.

We do sky suites usually, but once we got a super great deal on a celebrity suite and we tried it. As soon as we got our sea pass card we were greeted by one of the junior officers who escorted us right up to Michael's! Totally unnecessary but every time we saw him on board he remembered our names. So that might be something 'normal' for suites above the SS, not sure, or if it was a one-off.

We love Luminae for lunch. I get the burger without bun and without fries. Then I'm not too full the rest of the day.

Sometimes there is chicken and waffles. It's too large a portion. I ask for ONE each waffle and chicken. Just a thought.

We try and show up to check in about noon. Luminae is open for lunch from 12 to 1:30. I take my carry on bag with me to Luminae as we normally go to our suite after lunch. Solstice class ships MC is not to far from Luminae. M-Class ship MC is more forward and suites are more aft.

It is fairly standard for upper suites to be escorted to Michael's Club. Sometimes I have also been presented with a rose. A nice touch although we do know our own way!

On a couple of occasions when we have been sipping our champagne on arrival in Michael's the club host has told us our room is ready. Our butler has then come to escort us through the closed doors to our room to 'freshen up' and drop off our bags. We don't expect this but it is nice when it happens. This certainly is not standard, we have only had this happen on a couple of occasions.

We also enjoy Luminae lunch first day but agree on the portion size. I also enjoy the burger minus the bun! If, when you dine in Luminae, you are unsure if the rooms are ready yet you can ask the staff who will check for you.

Experiences vary.

We have been PH guests every cruise since the "new" suite perks were introduced but (except for one special situation) have never been escorted to Michael's Club despite usually having to check which floor we have boarded so that we can orient ourselves. We have, however, always been taken to our suite early enough to unpack our carry-ons before heading to Luminae for lunch.

If you are fortunate enough to be able to get into your suite early you need to understand that, if you leave it, you are unlikely to be able to get back to it until the general announcement is made. However, if you leave to go to Luminae for lunch, the general call will probably be made whilst you are eating.

Never been escorted on or off the ship regardless of suite level. Makes no difference to us and we'd be embarrassed if it happened. It would feel like a "look at me" moment

I've been in everything from the Penthouse to a Sky Suite and have never been escorted on to the ship. Did get a rose once. I think that's history, haven't seen any lately. Don't need to be escorted on to the ship as I know where things are, but love the escort through the crowds off the ship, speeds things up considerably.

They do know who you are, though. I went to Guest Relations to get some stationery to write thank you notes with extra tips. There were two people in front of me in the line. No big deal even though Maja said we were never to stand in lines. A junior officer came rushing over and asked what she could do for me. Told her I just wanted some stationery. She went and got it immediately. That was kind of embarrassing.

Other interesting thing is that, in the Penthouse last spring, we did not get invited to dine with the captain. That is very unusual. We were having such a good time with our friends, I never even noticed until I realized the cruise was over!

Thank you...I totally would feel on display as well. I just did not want to say so until you mentioned it. Nice touch for those who like it but if it not consistent then why bother?

The 1st time we were escorted on board was on our Alaska cruise on Millennium in August. We checked in early and a staff person from the spa came over to the counter and said she would escort us onto the ship. There were a few people waiting to board and she took us to the front of this line. The security guy said they had about 15 minutes before we could board and she directed us to some near by chairs. While we were waiting guests from the Penthouse and the adjacent CC and RS checked in and we were all waiting together.

The security guy motioned to her that we could get back in line to board and she took the group of 8 of us to the front of a bit longer line. Just as they opened the rope 2 people ran up, pushed in front of us and ran to the security belt shouting "WE'RE #1". I'm not sure what that got them and I might have been embarrassed with the attention if it had not been for these idiots.

I am wondering now if this is a tradition biting the dust...our last two cruises were from Southampton where they did a 'group' suite escort on board which we didn't utilise as I needed the lift being in a wheelchair. We thought this non personal escort in Southampton was a Southampton thing rather than a change in policy....Our two cruises before that (but after the introduction of the Suite Life) were from Fort Lauderdale and from Sydney....we definitely had the Rose and escort treatment on both cruises.

It is a nice touch especially for first time suite cruisers who may not know their way to Michael's Club. I also think that for those celebrating something special (which many are in higher suites) it can be a really nice greeting.

If it is a tradition that is going we will not really miss it (we do know our way to Michael's!) but I do think it is a nice touch which many do enjoy, especially if booking a RS of a PH is one of those "once in a lifetime moments" which it is for many guests.

We rarely if ever use a elevator and wonder if suites have a dedicated elevator?

Happy cruising

Well we keep hearing about the special perks for the "real suites" that people do not want to talk about so you may be onto something there :D Remember some here do not consider Sky suites to be proper suites.......

Not sure why, but we have always (5 or so sailings now on X) had someone guide us through to michaels. Sometimes with another couple sometimes just us. I find it helpful if we are in a port like Vancouver that is not exactly straightforward with many stopping points before you actually get onboard. To each his own. I would never refuse the offer-if it goes away-I assume since we found our way to the port and ship we probably can find our way to michaels too.

Our one Celebrity trip (we don't do cruises very often) was on a great deal for Celebrity Suite transpacific last month. We boarded in Vancouver, stood in line a few minutes to check in at the Suites line. Went very quickly through Customs and security thanks to a Global Entry line that had no one in it - we barely slowed down. As we were walking unescorted toward the ship, the Captain's Club representative spied our silver-colored folio designating suite guests and pulled us aside to escort us to Michael's Club.

We really had a great experience with Celebrity on the Millennium.

I don't think they do the Michael's Club carry on storage if you're in a Sky Suite on Reflection. Reflection has a lot more suites than the other ships.
Would that be the case with Equinox as well?

I don't have personal experience with Equinox, but I've seen past postings that say different things about the different ships. So, I wouldn't take being able to leave your carry on in Michael's Club to be a given unless someone who has sailed recently can weigh in. That could also change from cruise to cruise.

Reflection has almost double the number of Sky Suites because it was built with another similar type of suite, and those were eventually also turned into Sky Suites, so I know it's a logistics issue for them.

Yes, suite guests on Equinox can leave carry-on bags in Michael's Club while having lunch in Luminae.

Don't get real excited about Michael's Club on Equinox. Yes, it can be a quiet spot to have a before dinner drink but It is not a bright cheery room but quite dark. No one would choose to sit there alone all day at the bar just to have the complimentary drinks. They will get you top shelf liquor but it may take a few days to get it in their stock.

I much prefer the World Class bar for conversation and the excellent hand crafted cocktails. Try the Zacapa Old Fashioned! Probably the best drink on board!

We just took our luggage to Luminae with us because we knew the cabins would be ready when we finished lunch. All the luggage was just lined up by the door under the watchful eye of the maitre d'.
