What is your favorite diamond perk?

Recommended Posts

I guess I never knew about breakfast for Diamond! Does it vary from ship to ship on whether or not there is a lounge? I wasn't sure if they had a special area designated for it on every ship.

Every ship except Empress and Majesty has a Diamond Lounge, and every DL has continental breakfast.

Love ❤️❤️❤️ reading this thread. We will be Diamond this January on the Anthem' date=' great to know all the benefits we will have![/quote']

Enjoy that first Diamond Cruise, ours was memorable. I'd love to hear about Anthem.

Access to Diamond Club with free drinks for me[/quotI

I also enjoy the lounge for having a coffee and a quiet place to read. Having a separate diamond breakfast area on the Radiance recently was very enjoyable - small tables but close enough to chat with neighbors. Basically the same people every morning so a chance to make new acquaintances .

For myself (and my GF if she is sailing with me) the free internet day is really valuable as are the 3 free drinks. Neither of us drink normally and there's no way I am paying for alcohol so having the option to get 3 free drinks each is nice, although rarely can we do more than 1 drink each per night. Works well.

I've yet to ever visit the diamond lounge and don't see it happening any time soon since the dressiest I get on a cruise is shorts only (no shirt) and that's as much as I'm willing to wear anywhere except for specialty dining (which means 2 hours of wearing clothes and then back to trunks and shirtless after).

Haven't used the balcony discount as I'd prefer to cruise 12-14 times a year inside than 3-4 times a year with a balcony. GF also doesn't care as she's still young and can only stretch 4-5 cruises a year with me but would prefer inside to anything else if it means more cruises.

Never used any other diamond perk that I can remember. The chocolate strawberries are nice when we get those but meh. Spin and win is useless. Laundry day is useless. Robes are nice since we do hit the hot tub but not necessary except in cold weather months/storms I guess.

Will be D+ by March 2018 (or sooner) so going from nothing to D+ in about 3 years isn't too shabby, but honestly the only thing I'm looking forward to there is the extra free internet day. I want to get to 150% single occupancy charge but that's a loooooong time away still.

My upcoming cruise will be my first as a Diamond member. Traveling with my daughter who is Emerald. So, I assume we cannot go to the Diamond Lounge together? Can I buy her a drink with one of the 3 free drinks on my card and do they need to be purchased during certain hours? I think I read somewhere - only in the bars - not in MDR? Learned a lot on this thread! Thanks!

If your daughter isn't Diamond she can't go to the lounge.

I've bought all 3 drinks at the same time (usually bottled water, haha) so I doubt it would be a problem to give one of those to your daughter but I personally don't know the exact rule there.

Hands down its that beautiful coffee machine in the DL! Many visits to it all day long. The 3 drinks work great too as we are not big drinkers. 1 pre-dinner drink, a glass of wine with dinner and one drink at the evening entertainment!

We got a glass of wine every nite in the MDR as part of our three

The 3 drinks are usable during the same hours that the DL is open in the evening (between 5-8:30 usually, but it is posted on each ship). It should not be a problem getting two drinks at a bar at one time during those hours.

Glasses of wine ordered in the MDR are not supposed to be used as part of the 3 drinks on your sea pass card for Diamonds.

No longer a cut in stone policy. Depends on the ship and staff. We've had mixed experiences over the past few cruises.

Didn't check that they were actually deducted from my total, but they took my Seapass card every time I ordered the wine in the MDR last month on Oasis.

The complimentary upgrade from a balcony to a Grand Suite.

What? No one else gets that? Hmmmm.....

A cabin upgrade or upsell based on solely on C&A points is by far the best perk I ever received.... only once.

My party of 3 on Legend in 2015 was upgraded from a interior J to an aft balcony... 10 day sailing for total $300!!!!

I know Coloradobabe on this thread was also upsold on this sailing based on C&A points at the time... it was likely the perfect storm... not a sold out ship within a month of sailing, not many high up C&A members (older Legend vs. Oasis Class ships for example), spring break (so many C&A'ers don;t travel when kids out, and kids go on bigger ships instead of Legend), etc etc

The best normal perks for me are:

  1. Bob already said... breakfast up in the CL or DL is great way to start the day
  2. the coffee machine is essential
  3. and one thing I haven't seen mentioned is preferential seating (ie. front row ice show) and tendering

The Diamond lounge....

The 3 free drinks on the card each day - because that's about all I need in the evening. Hubby still gets the drink package, and I'm not a fan that they'll now make both of us get it - because we were not abusers, and it is disappointing how many people were.

And I really did not know about the balcony discount! Probably because we are always interior folks - and have had an outside balcony once - and it was "ok" but hardly used - but we did really enjoy the central park balcony for "people watching" and used that more - and would book that again.

You will love the boardwalk balcony even more for people watching. Only problem is it is noiser but balcony felt cooler.

1. Meeting like minded cruisers in dl.

2. Free drinks and apps in dl and 3 drinks at other venues.

2. Balcony discount

3. Free pic

We always buy the internet so free internet days doesn't help me.

Our cruise in 2 weeks we will be d+ so that is nice as we get a free bag of laundry. Took us a little over 3 years of cruising also. Would have been faster but working and sons school schedule gets in the way [emoji51]

Wnjoy your new found status and congrats on making diamond.

.

If your daughter is under 18 she would get your status. But if she is not ahe would bot be able to use d lounge.

3 free drinks only during d hour and are usually the same drinks on d list. No frozen drinks though. It has been reported that some ships are allowing you to redeem vouchers in mdr. Just ask server. If they say no, walk to nearest bar and get your own drink (i do this all the time) to bring back to mdr. Usually there is a bar close by or the casino is right there.

How did you get this and on what ship? You do get reserved seating as d+ perk but not d.

The title was what's your favorite one. I thought it meant ONE. I like the special section at the ice show, but I prefer the Diamond balcony discount to that and many other perks I use every time like the free pictures. Happy hour.
