Does anyone know whether the Affogato is available at Cafe al Bacio? I've read that it isn't but would love to hear that it has been brought back.

It was in August. To the poster who asked about Gelato, it is available in a separate area, depending upon the ship either across from Cafe Al Bacio or on the opposite side of the same deck. Do not recall the layout of Eclipse but I believe on opposite side of deck.

The cafe al baccio server will bring it to your table if you like. Gelato isn’t free except if you have a beverage plan and order Affagato Which is espresso with a scoop of vanilla gelato.

I agree, very happy with the ice cream in the OVC. And the fro-yo! Flavors like coconut, mandarin, peach almond, pina colada, etc...

Yes, the gelato station is inCafe El Bachio. You get one free scoop per cruise if you are a captains club member of classic tier or above. You don't get more when achieving a higher tier. Sadly!

The chocolate peanut butter cake is my favourite. We often skip dessert in the restaurant and come by cafe al bacio to share a dessert.

I love the Gelato too, but was pretty impressed with the ice cream/frozen yogurt offered in the buffet. :D

Not saying that the ice cream is fantastic, just that it doesn’t cost extra and I am sure if you were given a sample of each in a blind test you couldn’t really tell much difference to justify the extra cost.

The ice cream and gelato can vary from ship to ship. On one cruise, I did not care for the ice cream as it had little flavor and had ice bits. On most cruises, the ice cream is of very good quality and is a highlight for me. I really cannot tell the difference between gelato and ice cream. I like ice cream more on board as it is free. (lol)

Yes, I had blueberry frozen yogurt on Reflection back in April. Was delish!

When I wrote my comment I wasn't comparing it to anything. :)

 

I like the gelato so much I'll buy several on a cruise. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the ice cream, I'm just indifferent to it.
