Our Infinity cruise is before updating.  I'm sure that's why we got such a good price.

Rollie

Ironically we cruise the Equinox this Autumn after the Revolution and then the Eclipse next Autumn just before her refit...We loved the unusual itinerary from Japan to Singapore....

Gosh, your addiction is seriously worse than ours!!!

I wonder who on CC has the worst problem?

I like to make sure that I have 2 years worth in the tank mainly so that I can get the cabins we want. I always find that the price goes up after we book so we are as well getting them booked early although it is a struggle to find something different that I want to do booking at the same times.

At the moment I am still working so they need to be fitted in around that.

Shame on you blaming your cruise addiction on working!

Seriously, I do understand exactly what you mean. I worked in Education for over 35 years and our vacations had to be fitted in to small timeframes at peak season cost. We are also very room faddy and our present cruises were booked as the cruises came out.

Since retirement we have always had at least two booked but then we usually slot in another at some point! Unfortunately we are yet to get a bargain deal on a RS....

I only managed that once, the Silhouette on a 14 night Med Cruise from Rome around in October 2016. I had booked a RS when the cruise came out for around £10,500. Celebrity did a get one half price deal which I noticed, ran the cruise through the web site to check the pricing which was around £8,000. I was in the travel agents for it opening the next day, cancelled the previous booking and rebooked. Lost my deposit but it was worth it.

This was the once they forgot to increase the prices before they ran the promotion. RS have just been going up an up since then and some of the prices are just silly now.

When we started with Celebrity a 14 night cruise was around £4k for an AQ1 cabin, £6k for a S1, £7.5k for a CS and £10k for a RS. This was before you got perks. We use all the perks and would be buying the internet anyway. The uk value of the extras is around £3k for 14 nights so I reckon that If I am getting a cruise for under £9k in a S1 cabin I am ok. You also have to factor in the TA discounts which are about 6% in total and the obc you get for booking on board.

I have now managed to convince my self that with all the add ins that come with suites that the current cost on cruises I am looking at for 2021 is actually cheaper than I was paying before the introduction of the "Suite Class" as in UK terms the perks are worth between £210 to £250 a cabin a day and when you take that out of the price it is lower than what we were paying 4 years ago despite a 20% drop in the £/$ exchange rate over that time.

I just got off the Summit in a Royal Suite. One of the biggest perks to me was that on disembarkation day we could stay in Michael's Club until the ship needed to be cleared (that was about 9:30 am). Then the Michael's Club concierge escorted us off the ship and took us to the front of all lines directly to the immigration officer. Also luggage from suites is the first off, so it is available whenever you want to claim it. We were off and in a taxi in very few minutes.

I think you will love all the benefits of suite class guests. Have a great trip.

Carolyn,

thanks for for that Information! We (wife and 8 year old daughter) and our friends (couple and 4 year old son) who we met on solstice 9 years ago will be cruising Summit on her debut after drydock. Both families have a Royal Suite.

question: any children in Michaels Club on embarkation/debarkation day?

thanks!

I did not see any, but there were very few children on the ship. I cannot imagine that Michael’s would not allow children while waiting to disembark.

Children are allowed in Michael’s Club at all times so no problem on embarkation/debarkation. Whilst children are allowed in you don’t see them in there very often, not much to entertain them....I think many youngsters enjoy the children’s activities while their parents enjoy a pre dinner drink.

We were on board at Christmas time, so there were a lot of children on board.  There were some in Michael's lounge on embarkation and debarkation days, but never saw children there during the cruise.

in an RS or and above you also have premium drinks packages for all in the suite, unlimited free dinning in all venues, unlimited internet for each in suite, Two bottles of spirits of your choice in the room and your mini bar refreshed each day with your choice of sodas, beers and ciders.

This is however an increase in the level of service you receive which is difficult to put your finger on.This what makes the suite experience so sweet. The way the officers will sit and chat in MC or the Helipad sail aways or the bridge tours. These all add to an amazing experience ..... There is a down side though.... for each step up it is VERY hard to step back down

I have never sailed with Celebrity.  Do the CS qualify for helipad sail ways and bridge tours?

Irishgal, I have no doubt that if you mention to the Michael's Club concierge (and/or butler) that you would like to be invited to a helipad sailaway that it will be arranged!   If you would like a tour of the bridge I'm sure that could be arranged as well.  Just ask!

We have only sailed in a suite once and we didn't like it.

It was before the current private dining room and dedicated free lounge so that might have made a difference.

We have no use for a butler and would never have anything to ask them to do for us...so it really wasn't our thing.

We got a nice location room, back of the ship, which was nice sailing into/out of venice.

We only booked the suite because a point promotion that got us to elite plus quicker.

I'm sure you will have a great time, but it wasn't for us.

We upgraded to a SkySuite on Millennium in 2015 for a total of $800.  Good deal, we loved Luminae. However, we didn't need the Butler and couldn't enjoy the huge balcony, since it was too chilly for most of the cruise.

Also, we found that we missed dining with our newfound cc roll call friends.

We will never book a suite unless we have more than just a couple in a cabin.

It is important to let the concierge know early in the cruise if you want any tours. They do keep the group numbers quite small (12 ish). We do know guests who have requested a tour near the end of a cruise and have been disappointed. For example, the Michael’s host may only arrange galley tours on the first sea day.

On Reflection we were invited to a bridge tour followed by lunch in Blu on the last sea day with the Captain and several officers and managers, very nice too. I think about 18 of us were invited to this, uncertain what suites they were in, we were in a RS at the time.

Helipad tours tend to be for all suite guests but are subject to good weather conditions, for example, our sail away from Sydney was cancelled owing to rain. We have been invited to ‘sail into’ helipad events also (Auckland) early morning where they served hot chocolate rather than the usual fizz. Remember you do need to wear closed in shoes for the helipad...

I am sure that the bridge tour is just the RS and PH guests if it included the meal. We have never been invited when in a CS although we have done bridge tours a good number of times. On the Silhouette last year they didn't do the meal after the tour which was a bit of a disappointment as the time before in an RS on the Silhouette the meal happened.

We are probably getting fed up with the helipad, we have done it so often and often twice a cruise, once with the MC concierge and once with the Captains Club. The first time we did it on Celebrity which was in 2012 they did refills of the wine and had canapies but after that it has been one glass and no food.

The novelty of events does wear off! However, I must say we still tend to attend most things we are invited to. I never cease to be amazed about the size of the bridge and the little control they use to manoeuvre the ship!

We really enjoyed the ‘chat’ during and after the post bridge meal on Reflection. For example, I was sat next to the Guest Relations Manager and had some insight into how they deal with various scenarios and later chatted to another manager (can’t remember his role) about the Revolution of the S class ships.

We had a CS on the first leg of a B2B and an aqua class cabin on the second leg.  We did the sail away on both cruises.  One as a suite guest and the other as a B2B guest.

Our bridge tour was canceled due to weather on our suite portion of our B2B.  We let our MC concierge know, and she was able to get us in the following week.

You’re going to love being in a suite.  I agree with the others that Michael’s Club and Luminae are wonderful.   Michael’s Club is so relaxing and a good way to meet people.  Love those complimentary cocktails, too!  The menu in Luminae is very creative and unique, and the food is delicious.  DH and I also loved having so much extra space in the cabin.  Have fun!
