Musings on Mariner - A slow boat from China

Recommended Posts

I don't mean to be ignorant, but can women walk around freely in these ports? Do they have to cover up? No alcohol?

Also, I'm not eating anything called "Clotted".

Plenty of uncovered women walking the streets of Dubai, have not spent any time looking for alcohol, but the Gateway Hotel brags that they are alcohol free.

Big shout out to our very hardworking Concierge. He defines awesomeness.

Yin Tao. He transfers to Ovation once we get to Barcelona.

We see him all over the ship.b527cd93ff99c4f168aa347fba81a909.jpg

Could not agree more. Great guy. Working so hard with 110 Pins on board. Also very quick and proficient with a fire extinguisher; put out a small fire in the lounge with lighting speed.

Yes no problem although you do get the Arab men staring at the women.

Don't kiss or drink alcohol outside and co -codomol possession is a prisonable offence.

Wow, I missed that. Or was it on a previous sailing.

We stop in Ashod after the canal. Not sure what to do just yet. Lots of folks going to Jerusalem

If u have just an one day stop in Ashdod, and u don't plan on visiting Israel again, I think that Jerusalem is a must (and I'm a very secular Jew) -- out of curiosity. A private tour would be best.

Lots of trips combine the Dead Sea with Jerusalem.

If u have a stop in Haifa too, the Sea of Galilee would be nice.

Glad that cruise ships are again stopping here.

I believe we are in Strait of Hormuz.

Hoping to see some US Navy ships.

For those not in the know, my youngest son is a Nuke on the Reagan in Japan. Very proud of him.

Pretty expensive tea.

My friends son went to Dubai on honeymoon. The parents paid for afternoon tea.

They said it was like a meal with caviar and smoked salmon. It was £20 extra for a table at the window and £15 for a beer. Cost them near £300 for the experience.
