Nice hotels and transportation to Monte Carlo?

Because there isn't much information on the France ports of call board, I wondered if anyone had recommendations on a hotel in Nice, and transportation to the port in Monte Carlo.  We could also stay in Monte Carlo, of course, but a cursory glance on Trip Advisor indicates hotel prices are much more reasonable in Nice.  We're on the 10/12/19 Pursuit sailing.  Thanks for any suggestions!

Have a look at Residence Le Palais Saleya. It is quite central. We will be staying there. It has good reviews on trip advisor.

Concerning transport from the hotel to Montecarlo, you can book it from the hotel. They appear to have reasonable prices. We will book with them our transfer from Nice Airport to the hotel.

Once we have booked a transfer from Nice Airport to Cannes with Jam Transfers. They were fine. You can also find them in trip advisor.

The last time we joined a cruise in Monaco (Seabourn) we stayed in the Port Palace hotel right on the harbour. It made for a lazy breakfast on the day of joining and crossed the harbour with our cases to the ship on the electric eco boat. The hotel was reasonably cheap and has easy access from the casino area  via an internal lift.

The Journey to Monaco from Nice airport is usually about an hour by private taxi, or a bit longer by bus from the airport. Apparently Helicopter is much quicker but consequently much more expensive😀

We didnt do it but there is a train goes along the coast. I think from recall it was 25mins from nice to monaco.  Google and see what you can find.

If you have time, go to St Tropez and Port Grimaud.  It is wonderful.  PS everything is very expensive, no matter what you do.

Thanks. As the OP said, the ports of call board was pretty useless on this so I’m glad they raised the question here. Some useful suggestions to follow through with, much appreciated.

Nice Riviera is a good hotel centrally located and very reasonable. We have taken the train from Nice to Monte Carlo and it was very good and cheap (about 20 minutes journey as opposed to the bus which took more than one hour).

Fab hotel, but usually silly money. If you can get a good rate take it,  as its 4 seasons etc standard.  David

I do remember we paid €199 a night for a sea view. But yes, fabulous hotel. Loved it.  Just checked rates for next October...mother of God!!

Thanks for all the suggestions!  We may scrimp a bit on the hotel to be able to do a private transfer to Monte Carlo.  DH is booked with PerryGolf on the cruise so we'll have our luggage plus his golf clubs, which makes public transportation a little more difficult.

Then again, last year in Lisbon we arranged for transportation from the airport to the hotel, specifying we had luggage and golf clubs, and the service screwed up and sent a regular car.  DH had to sit on his clubs in the back seat 🙄

We stayed at Le Meridian in Monaco. October their rates weren’t that bad.

A few years ago we stayed overnight at the Le Meridian in Nice (much cheaper than Monaco) before joining Journey in Monaco, excellent hotel in a good location with a lovely rooftop restaurant.

The staff were very helpful chasing up the Airline to recover a lost item of luggage which arrived just in time for our transfer to the ship.

We did an Azamara British Isles Cruise with Perry Golf a few years ago. We used Ship Sticks, and they picked the clubs up from us at home and Perry Golf took care of them from there on. We did fly home with them, but it was much easier for us, particularly as we had other plans for several days precruise.
