Cheers - specific questions

Before I hit the buy button, DH wants to know......

1.  When ordering a bloody mary or screwdriver can you specify the vodka type or do you have to take the "house" brand?  On Princess and RCCL we always get Grey Goose in our vodka drinks.

2.  Can one of us take both of our cards and get two drinks instead of each of us having to get our own drinks?  Again, on other cruise lines, as long as you had your cabinmates card you could get both drinks.

3.  The soda is "fountain soda" not an unopened can, correct?

Thanks in advance,

Dawn

1.). You can specify which type of vodka you want 🙂

2.). I’ve never had a problem doing this.

3.) Actually I think the soda is all from cans (and usually room temperature cans at that)... I hardly ever get soda or any drinks with soda ona  a cruise though, so someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

The casino and steakhouse bars had Grey Goose VX on our recent Dream sailing.  The price of $17 per shot fell within the Cheers guidelines.  I had a bloody mary made with it at the casino.  I preferred sipping it over ice with a lime.  Very nice.

Every soda I ordered  was room temperature from a can poured over ice.  They gave me the can to refill the glass.

1&2 my experience has been the same. 3. We have only been able to get fountain Soda and never cans every time every ship we've done Cheers on.

Ps If you get Cheers, make sure you get your giant bottle of water each night in the MDR 🙂

Can you get sparkling water at dinner?

I've had CHEERS on several different ships and the soda has always been in a can with a glass of ice - you can ask that the bartender not open the can if you want to take it to the cabin for later.

The only time I couldn't get Grey Goose (or any other high end liquor) was if I ordered a "menu" drink - ie:  The Cruiser, Kiss on the Lips, etc.  Though some people have said that this was not their experience - again, I've tried on several different ships and was always told that they had to stay with the "recipe."  Perhaps if I would have "pitched a fit" I could have gotten the top shelf - but it wasn't worth it to me.

Yeah, I noticed that several of the signature cocktails are pre-mixed in big jugs and I believe they have to follow the Carnival recipes for them.

Does anyone know if Cheer packages include Prosecco?

Yes, as long as the one you want is offered by the glass and is under $20 a serving. I saw they had at least on Prosecco that met that criteria at most bars.

You can ask for the can, but they won't always give it to you.  I was on Carnival in November of 2017.  Not one bar was open before 8:00 am.  I wanted a diet coke, but could only get one if I was in the dining room early.  Because of this I asked a bartender in the Red Frog Pub if I could have an un opened can of diet coke for the next morning.  He told me they aren't suppose to do it.  I assured him I would not tell anyone and put it in my purse so no one could see it.  I have no problem with this policy other than I cannot get anything before 8:00 am.  Next Carnival cruise I will be bringing some soda on so I don't have this issue.

I get a diet coke from the pizza place every morning - it's always open.

Does the coffee bar have diet cokes?  Based on what I have read, I know they have bottled teas, and some type of canned energy drinks.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just confirming what others have said.

1.  Yes

2.  Mostly yes--the bartenders seem to know you after the first drink.  It's best the other person at least be in view to wave if they don't.

3.  Brand sodas seem to all be in cans.  I've only ever noticed soda water from the fountain.
