If the Internet purchase options are up-to-date in the Personalizer, you would not be offered Princess Connect which is the old, slow Internet instead of the upgraded MedallionNet system.

My cruise on the Sky Princess still shows the same purchase minutes-  internet packages on the Personalizer.

I did the math:  $129.99 for 15 days (on my personalizer) is not over 50% off.  $9.99/day times 15 x 50% would be around $75.  I would go with that.  I will use up my 250 Elite minutes and then purchase day by day if I need to.  (btw....my special promotion comes down to $8.66 a day and this doesn't take into account that you are unable to connect to the internet on the last day as you wait for disembarkation)

I think their bean counters (aka room chair fiasco) needs to go back to school.

When you purchase for a day onboard it’s $20

Do the free minutes connect via Medallion Net or do they have a funky connection you are limited to with the free minutes? From an IT standpoint it would seem to me that all connections would be the same and maintaining two separate systems would be bizarre but, with Princess, who knows what they will do for more cash.

Interesting.  Thanks for the information.  I'm sailing the Royal Princess in May and have not received any communication about Ocean Medallion.

Hello were on the April 13th sailing on the Royal and we still dont have our medallions. Told by Princess about 2 weeks prior to sailing 🙂

I'm on the 27th and I spoke with a girl specifically in the Medallion Department (dedicated medallion #) and she insisted that the Royal will NOT be ready for Medallion starting 4/13. I think she was clueless and reading off a script yet you work in the Medallion department.

Princess announced and it's listed on their website that Royal will be Medallion Ready 4/13 cruise. So I don't even think she knows what's going on.

I called because I downloaded the Ocean Ready app and when I enter my reservation # it said it cannot be found. So who the heck knows whats going.

Let's see:  I was on the Caribbean Princess almost 18 months ago.  It said it "would have" Medallion.  Did not happen.

Let's see:   I have an upcoming cruise on the Ruby.  It says it has Medallion, but not 100%.  Doors maybe, internet maybe.  Need to rely on Princess at Sea because Ocean Ready will not be functioning.

I guess I've given up on Princess' update to Medallion TBD.  When and if, then.

We were on the Caribbean Princess February 2019.  It had the Medallion Net & it worked great.

Happy it worked for you.  It was promised for my October 2018 cruise.  Did not have Medallion net nor even doors.  I've stopped hoping and wishing.  I just go with the flow.  As long as I have a stateroom and an ocean, I'm fine.

That’s a real shame. I’m sorry that you missed the experience. We boarded the CB in mid November and it rocked!

Interesting. No Grand. No Star.  The rumor mill has had the Golden going to P & O.  Would they do this if that was the truth.  The Grand is in dry dock as we speak.

The speed of medallion.net is an expected standard on all CCL owned ships (imo). No matter which CCL fleet of ships it may go to they all still needs modern satellite connectivity. This drydock for the Grand may just make the most sense to install improved internet potential even if it is going to another line in a couple years.

We are on the 20th and I experienced the same message...when I phoned to see what's up, they told me to try back a couple of weeks before sailing...we will see!

They need at least two weeks to mail out the Medallions. Although I've heard you can also get them at the port, but I am sure that will add to your check in time.

Their marketing promotion for MedallionClass has provided too much misinformation & has missed promoted implementation dates (initially Royal was in January 2018) and I’ll believe statements made by those working the Medallion line more than from marketing.  Even if they’re merely reading from a script I trust their scriptwriters more than the scripts their CSRs receive from marketing.

My TA was told the same thing by the Medallion line that it won’t be functional on 4/13/19 except for the MedallionNet internet system.  Besides that implementation date, I’ve read other statements from Princess that the Royal will have it in Alaska & another indicating after Alaska.

The entire implementation has been poorly managed with management, marketing and technicians rarely in agreement.  We’re on the Royal’s 4/27 and 5/4 cruises and if we receive an email that our cruises have been added to the OceanReady app will then complete the process.  Princess has not provided a definitive answer about when and instead provides conflicting statements.  My hope is that whichever system is on our cruise it’ll be fully functional & not unreliable.

Princess have announced a rollout schedule for more of their ships, which is now separated out from the full Ocean Medallion activation schedule.

According to their press release, Regal Princess, Caribbean Princess, Royal Princess and Ruby Princess already have it and the following ships will be rolled out:

  • Coral Princess – from 5th April 2019
  • Island Princess – from 15th May 2019
  • Crown Princess – from 30th June 2019
  • Emerald Princess – from 3rd August 2019
  • Sky Princess – from 20th October 2019
  • Golden Princess – from 20th December 2019

Ocean Medallion full activation is still scheduled for Royal Princess on 13th April, Crown Princess on 24th July and Sky Princess when it launches on 20th October.

So is this saying that the ship may not have the Ocean Medallion implemented yet, but it could still have MedallionNet?  We'll be on the Island Princess in late October, 2019.

That’s exactly the way I’m reading it.

For my purposes, MN is need to have while OM is nice to have.

On the Royal have read that MedallionNet (Internet) has been available for a month or two but MedallionClass (the entire system) won’t be available until Spring at the earliest.  The way I understand it the OceanMedallion is required for the full MC experience.  Although have read posts saying there are several other apps necessary to use all of the MC functions.

Hopefully after experiencing a MedallionClass cruise all of the other functions will be more understandable to me...too many terms for me to grasp & for a senior I’m relatively technology literate. ☺️

But with Ocean...Medallion, Ready, Now, Compass, Tagalong, Concierge, Casino...that’s too many Oceans for me until actually experiencing MedallionClass. 😉

We are on the 4/13 Royal Princess sailing when Medallions are supposed to roll out. Will see how that goes. Can we track other shipmates if they don't have a smartphone and just the Medallion? My MIL won't have a smartphone. She doesn't have dementia but we worry she might get lost since she has only been on one cruise and English is not her first language.

As for the fast wifi, is it comparable to Zoom on Royal Caribbean?

I also experienced the same (reservation could not be found) AFTER being told to download the app by the first representative.  When I called back to the same Medallion department, I was connected to someone who seemed to know something.
She told me that i was getting the error message because the Ruby is NOT Medallion ready.  Stateroom doors might work and the net is up.  But that's about it.  She also told me not to bother with Ocean Ready for this cruise.  Not going to happen.  So I deleted the app.

From the CB this past Nov/Dec.
