leight Posted June 1, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2019 We have always booked inside cabins, but because we haven't had a 'big' vacation in quite a while Dh suggested a balcony on our dream cruise on one of the mega ships. Just hoping to get an idea of which areas to avoid I know the preferred aft balconies are gone but I'm sure there has to be others we can enjoy. Thanks! Clarea Posted June 1, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2019 We like oceanview balconies on decks 8 and 9.
torpeedo Posted June 1, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) We also like oceanview balconies that are near the back/aft elevators. Elevators to the WJ, pool, boardwalk, central park etc. Edited June 1, 2019 by torpeedo

Ocean view large balconies on the humps, especially higher up on deck 12. Stay far away from rooms on deck 14 and 6. Too many chances of noise from below or above. molly361 Posted June 1, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2019 I like balconies on deck 6 or deck 8 near the aft elevators. I would avoid Deck 14 which is under the pool deck
renza Posted June 1, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) Ocean view towards rear elevators are great. I too would avoid deck 14. We love 7-10. Also avoid boardwalk and Central Park balconies unless u like everyone being able to look in your cabin with zero privacy. We hardly ever use our balcony but always get ocean view, we love watching the ship dock and hang out there in my PJS. We always have the curtains open and enjoy the view while napping and getting ready for dinner. It’s the only way to go especially on the oasis class. Ourusualbeach Posted June 1, 2019 #7 Share Posted June 1, 2019 Avoid deck 7 aft as you can’t cross from Port to starboard, so if you get the elevator on the opposite side of your cabin you will have to walk up or down a deck to cross over. taglovestocruise Posted June 1, 2019 #8 Share Posted June 1, 2019 Four cruises on the mega ships and always deck 12, three out of four on the first hump.

The best part of the ship imo is Central Park which is on deck 8.
time4u2go Posted June 1, 2019 #10 Share Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) Definitely go for deck 6! You are within 2 decks of the theater, the clubs, the ice rink, the casino, the dining room, the art gallery, the spa, the promenade, the boardwalk, the aqua theater, the schooner bar, the photo store, the rock climbing wall, central park, and dazzles. I don't think any other deck has that many things that close by. Edited June 1, 2019 by time4u2go
jerseyjjs Posted June 1, 2019 #11 Share Posted June 1, 2019 Deck 6, aft elevator area. Close proximity to the boardwalk. 2 floors away from central park (above) and the casino (below).
Rare BirdTravels Posted June 1, 2019 #12 Share Posted June 1, 2019 Oceanview balcony on a high deck or low deck near an elevator. We dislike middle floors because the elevators are always full. And we hate having to hike to the elevators from mid-ship (our old knees don't work the same as they use to). iWillSailAway Posted June 1, 2019 #13 Share Posted June 1, 2019 Deck 6. I would play mini golf and then ride the Ultimate Abyss from deck 16 down to deck 6 and go back to my cabin.
