I have been cutoff before.

Maybe you gave the impression that you had had enough?  They do cut off for that.

It was for my own good. Was in the Casino and I was up a significant amount. The Casino Host did me a favor. I was drinking Glenfiddich on the rocks. Very smooth.

Good for the casino host, he/she did you a service.

Funny, when I was winning enough and decided to bet $50 instead of $10, the pit boss actually started waving anxiously at the bar when my beer was almost finished. I said I liked the gesture but already had a package, but he insisted because (this was HAL btw) and I quote: "this doesn't count towards your limit". They liked me, and I liked them because after that I won even more :classic_biggrin:

And how many who might have bought at 49 won't buy at all because they are mad about RCI honoring the 18 (showing they can afford it) but never reducing prices to a reasonable amount in between?

If this was an experiment, it is even stupider than if it was a mistake!

Wait, let me get this right... a company messes up (whether the price was entered as a mistake or the "experiment" got more press than they thought they would), decides to say "yes, we messed up, so those of you who purchased get a deal", and that's wrong?

What is this world coming to?

OK. I'm not inclined to try to further explain cost subsidy nor derail the thread any longer. Just know that if the cruise lines continue to raise the costs of excursions / beverages, etc in order to artificially mitigate fares, your base rates are going to go through the roof. If and when that happens, refer back to this rather than starting the "What is with the rates on RCL these days?" thread. You're reaping the benefits of their largesse right now, but it probably won't always be so. For evidence, try to get a $50 room online at Caesars Palace in Vegas these days. It was easy 20 years ago.

To everyone else : sorry for the hijack, but as someone in a related business, statements like "why should I pay more so (insert group here) can pay less?" can come off myopic when the person saying it is currently and historically  paying less because (same group) is paying more. Even if the OP doesn't even realize it. Milwaukee Eight is right, tier status should rightly be based on dollars spent, not nights onboard. That's on the cruise line, not any of the passengers, but some people don't realize how good they have it. Then, when the market corrects, the outrage starts from those who didn't even realize they were surfing on other passengers' backs all these years.

I get what you're saying, I just think that saying the inflated booze prices are the only profit generator / fare subsidizer is a heck of a stretch.

Agree to discontinue this aspect of the hijack... continue on with the conspiracy theories, all!  LOL

It might be that calls are taken "is this real?" which are answered by "yup, this is real, I can see it myself. Probably a special promotion" but when social media explodes at least someone would have escalated the issue and it wouldn't be hours to fix the "glitch". I'm with the tin hat league.

I never said it's the only one, but it is a big one. Excursions are another, but the profit margins aren't as high. Spa has preposterous profit margins, but it's a smaller client base.

It's all theoretical right now anyway, so to hell with it. 😂 Just something to keep an eye on in the future since some of the lines seem to be flirting with more "all inclusive" business models. Cheers!

I hope all of you who got this 18 dollar package realise that the rest of us were eagerly awaiting a price reduction for Independence day, that will now never come.

Hope you're all proud of yourselves. 😉

I'm very proud of myself. Thanks for asking.

I wouldn't pay $35 either, probably not $25. Even at $18, it cost me $600 for a 14-day TA for 2. We just don't drink enough to make it worthwhile.

Its good to see other people on my wavelength. :classic_blush:

Bitter??

If one is mad at RCI and won’t buy the drink package because; how does that hurt RCI?

Honoring the errant price has nothing to do with “affording it” (heck they could afford less I’m sure) but more to do with valuing the customer who had spent their money on a product, and taking pride in your word and in backing a business transaction.

At the Amway Arena Orlando for Concerts, Basketball, and other events. Beer is $16 and Tito’s $20.

During Bikeweek, beer at the Speedway is $12. On Mainstreet $6.

We have similar crazy prices at concerts , sporting events and others.... not a true comparison, they are one day events!
