Error in Deluxe Beverage package pricing?

Recommended Posts

Reading RC Twitter people complaining they didn’t get the GLITCH and the 30% off isn’t enough. Many cruises the 30% off now is $50. Another fake sale. Remember, sale price always off the current ONBOARD (what you would pay onboard) price, not off yesterday’s advertised price online.  It’s humorous reading the posts on Twitter, almost more than here.

Nope, probably not.

I still think this could have been some sort of experiment.

I was thinking the same thing.

I've never bought the drink package. At those prices I would have. It would have cost more to buy the package than what I spend on individual drinks, but my consumption would probably have been similar.

If you drink outside of Diamond Hours (assuming your Diamond or above), beers are typically $8 and alcohol around $10. So a beer and a shot would cover the $18.

Being the pessimist that I traditional am, it is quite possible that Royal did a lottery system to determine which ones they would honor. Maybe due to the volume sold. So not getting an email could be them craftily composing a consolation prize for the rest of us.

And yes the sky is falling

I bought one under my account, and my husband bought one under his account. I got "the email." He didn't. However, they are all still in the order histories. You can breathe now. No big conspiracy.

Probably none of the IT people.  They keep those no matter what.

The way things work on their web site, there are probably only 2 of them anyway 😉

Usually I'll have a few beers at the beach/islands we visit.

I don't buy a drink on board every day.....

Congratulations to everyone who scored this great deal! I am totally jealous😊

Even if you don't drink 👀, this is a great deal for bottles of fizzy water which I love and good coffee and fresh squeezed juice!😍

I'm hoping that as Bob suggests, this was an experiment and maybe they will see that a cheaper package might get substantially more people paying for a package, and bring in more revenue than increased expenses, and in the future, they might decide to make this the new regular price??? maybe??? I'm hoping??? please please please???

Seems they decided to honor the mistake, np, then it should apply to everyone.

I plan to call tomorrow an demand I get the $18 price and everyone else who paid the full price should as well.

This isn't like an airline mis-pricing some odd route that maybe 10 people might get.

It's cute that they're 'owning' their mistake, but they're just screwing over anyone who missed the deal.

They made a mistake, they owned up to it, and they corrected it, honoring those who took advantage at the time.  How do you feel screwed over?  🍷

😂 Good Luck

You know when the price fluctuates a few $$$ and goes up from the price yesterday? How come you haven't suggested people call up and demand the yesterday price today because that's what you want.

Travel agents received a copy of all their guests who booked this package.  In the accompanying letter from Royal it was so they could contact guests in case the email that Royal had on file did not work.

I am a TA but we never received my letter. All accounts were checked.

Someone else said this in a different place.

Have you ever tried to buy “Random Crap” from Woot?

It is just like that.

@boatseller yikes! I have missed so many deals, that is how it goes! have paid more than others on cruise ships for cabins. I have booked at times I didn’t get free beverage packages or OBCs that others got. I regularly pay more than others for airline seats because we book early. Heck, I paid over $3,000 in 1981 for an Apple IIe when people in 2019 get one far better for far less.. It may have been frustrating, but I never whined and I certainly didn’t act like I was due something because I missed it.  We can’t be at all places at one time, so sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. But missing out on a deal is FAR different than them saying one thing and changing it, which is what happened in this situation. To resent those who got the deal seems very small.

@dpostman I appreciate your attitude 😊 I would also be happy for others who got a good deal as I am happy when I find one (too rare, but that’s life).

@Host Clarea I agree with you. It makes sense - how many will buy at the lower price (similar to the fee on NCL’s “free” package) vs. the usual price is a valid question to ask! Many of us will never drink enough juice, speciality coffee, and alcohol to warrant the typical price (we almost didn’t even do the $18 deal for that reason) and never get it. That was the case with so many. And it went on way too long...
