Change of Captain?

Enjoy your cruise. The crew doesn’t change all in one lot. You might see a few new crew members joining the ship in Southampton starting their new contracts and for different positions onboard their contracts will be for different lengths.

Thank you.

That makes sense, just had a panic that we would have a whole new crew.

Never really thought about it before.

I think a whole new crew all in one go would be a recipe for chaos. :)

I think it all depends on whether they know you are going to be onboard........

of course if they do, they will all stay on, Captain included!

I think the Captain heard we are boarding, that's why he is going home...

It is, we were on Britannia when many of the waiting staff changed so there were a whole lot of new staff falling over each other and poor service depending on the table you got in freedom dining.

Andy, the above is unusual, they usually change staff a bit at a time for continuity.

Have a wonderful cruise, where are you off to this time?

Thank you.

Just off to Hamburg, Brugge and IJmuiden.

It was a last minute cheapie, we call it our bonus cruise, the first one we haven't planned at least a year in advance.

Because of Oceana skipping the Gulf, the price was very cheap.

Lovely, great places to do some Christmas shopping. We always head in the direction of Brugge in November or December to get in the  Christmas chocolates, in fact we will just miss you by a few days.

The weather looks fairly warm this year, I have had thermals on in these ports in the past but this year Brugge is sitting at 8 degrees, positively balmy.

Have a wonderful cruise.

Thank you Michael Fish... 😊

We have 'layers' so prepared for everything.

Don't mind the cold, just hope the rain stays away.

Just hope that I am not like Michael Fish, I remember black Monday very clearly 🌬.

If it is too cold you can always have a nice glass of Jenever to warm you up.

Just home- yes Capt changing also quite a lot of crew both this week and next weekend.  Not wholesale change but fairly significant from what our waiters were telling us.

The entertainment, shows and resident bands/musicians excellent. CD Elaine Cole also went home today.  Food in mdr very good too.  Enjoy.

Andy,

Part of the crew change every time a ship comes into Southampton. And on longer cruises they can change at any port with an international airport nearby. Much like the visiting entertainers.

Yes thanks, we did.  Couple of bumpy days but good cruise.  Although i think there were quite a few of the crew going home it is staggered so there remains continuity.  Our waiter was going home today, wine waiter next week but assistant waiter not til next year. One wine steward told us there is more change just now as they don't have much changeover during the Christmas season.   I trust all us well and you enjoy your time on board as much as we did.

Thank you.

On board now, embarkation was fantastically easy.

Hit the buffet while it was quiet, the roast beef was fantastic.

Early days but loving it so far.

It only sprung to mind as on our last Aurora cruise, the captain was leaving and our waiters, cabin steward etc all seemed to be going as well.

On board now and everybody seems to know what they are doing.
