CCHelp Posted January 13, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2020 Hello, all! The previous topic for keeping up with who is serving as Cruise Director and Entertainment Director on Princess ships was 8 years old and confusing to new users. With this new year a fresh start is in order. 🙂 The purpose of this topic is to update the list of who is serving on which ship as Cruise Director and Entertainment Director. If you have comments about individual cruise line employees, good or bad, please let Princess know directly, as that is not the purpose of this topic. Posted below is the last list of Cruise Directors and Entertainment Directors from the previous topic. snoozecrooze Posted January 23, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2020 Hi everyone! I decided to launch a visual version of the Princess CD/ED list here for the visual learners and it can be found here: https://airtable.com/shrgry4ieUZ0p31qZ/tblG4mVF0lHDjW5po?blocks=hide I am the only one who maintains this, so it won't necessarily be any more accurate than the table posted above, but it's another way to stay updated and can be bookmarked for easier access. And of course, it helps put a face to a name! For those of you who cruise Carnival, you may be aware that they run a list of their cruise directors that is publicly accessible (https://airtable.com/shrxzucqLGHbpDmm8/tblZJCAW6us7UhDmZ?blocks=hide) and I took inspiration from that to make this list concept that we currently have, more informative and visual. Please let me know what you all think and if you have any questions. I hope this can help some of you out in satisfying your curiosity/plan whatever you need, although remember that schedules are always subject to change! Happy cruising! 5

BarbinMich Posted January 24, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2020 How things change! We haven't cruised Princess in the last few years, but I don't recognize a single name on the posted list. Back in the "old days," we had several repeat CDs like Lisa Ball (my all time favorite; had her at least twice, both on TAs, I think).

Steelers36 Posted February 1, 2020 #10 Share Posted February 1, 2020 @CC Help Michell, thanks for making a fresh start. Not sure if this was done for the Captains list and the MD list, but how about a complete fresh start by making all three of these Princess "stickies" because they tend to get buried down the pages and people cannot find them.

BarbinMich Posted February 22, 2020 #15 Share Posted February 22, 2020 Admittedly we haven't been able to cruise for the last several years, but LOTS of new names! Two "old" ones are Lisa Ball and Billy Hygate. Liked them both. I'm just surprised that Lisa is Entertainment Dir., instead of Cruise Dir. as she was when we sailed with her several times. I thought it was the other way around or that they were equals with the ED in charge of the entertainment on stage and the CD responsible for daily activities like trivia, etc. ED is definitely superior. ED is uniformed and wears 3-1/2 stripes (I believe) while the CD, although not in an officer's uniform is only a 3 stripe position (I may be incorrect about the number of stripes the ED wears but CD is definitely half a stripe less than the ED). ED is responsible for all entertainment department activities while the CD is second in command of entertainment and is generally the public face of the entertainment department. But they work closely together with the ED doing much of the behind the scenes work while the CD is out in public. But when needed, either will do what is needed just as the old Deputy Cruise Director position stepped up to fill the CD's shoes when needed.

karabear15 Posted February 24, 2020 #20 Share Posted February 24, 2020 Does anyone know who is taking over for CD when Matt O'Brien departs the Island? We haven't received any emails giving any indication of who anyone is other than our captain...hmph!
WestcoastGirl12 Posted February 28, 2020 #21 Share Posted February 28, 2020 @karabear15Hey Kara! I am also wondering. I loved Matt O last year on the Royal. Was hoping he would stay on for our voyage on the 17th but it looks like he isn't 😞 Post on our roll call if you find out!
karabear15 Posted February 28, 2020 #22 Share Posted February 28, 2020 @WestcoastGirl12I'm beginning to think that we aren't going to have one, there is zero information! If I see anything, I will let our group know.

In the past we always got email with lots of information regarding the CD, Captain, shows, MUTS, etc. It was nice and there was always a copy available in the personalizer as well. The last few years we get pretty much zip although we have gotten a couple of uninformative emails. I love the ones telling me to "Book EZ Air NOW!" when it's not going to be available for a long time yet.

Yep, all we have gotten so far is who our Captain is...I guess that's the most important, at least someone will be in command of the ship 😂

A good CD is a gem. A poor CD can be a lame influence on the staff. We had one captain who, when he made his announcements, everybody groaned a bit. The staff would respectfully stop serving/taking orders/whatever and wait. The captain would go on and on and on and on and on... Finally the servers would kind of grin and shrug and go on taking orders/serving drinks and meals, etc. Eventually the captain would finish. He wasn't a bad captain but he went on and on and on and on and did it very slowly. On the other hand, he didn't run us into a big rock while showing off for his girlfriend. Good captain. Got us from Point A to Point B and all points in between and did it safely.
