Same.  This has caused everyone to go completely insane with hysteria.  Thing is, regular influenza is every bit as bad as COVID-19.  If you actually looked into what influenza is, how many people it infects every year, how many people it kills every year, and see how much the flu shot you get every year actually protects you vs these simple steps that we are being stressed now (wash hands, stay away from high density situations, wash hands) we should have this similar kind of insanity every year.  But I'm going to just go ahead and bet that this time next year it will all be a thing of the distant past.

^^^^

This. More than 90,000 people worldwide have died of the regular flu, https://www.worldometers.info/#flu and it gets next to no media coverage. Also, tellingly, the media is quick to point out the number of new cases and deaths, but virtually never mention the number of patients who've RECOVERED from Covid-19 (94% according to Worldometers). Their coverage is borderline reckless and is, in my opinion, clearly designed to maximize clicks on websites and TV ratings in order to help their sponsors.

Where do I go to find the new policy? We still have 2 weeks, so I’m not rushing to wait on hold, but I want to tell the group so we can make plans. Thanks!

nevermind! I see it now on the home page😆

@DCGuy64 On this we agree. Sadly, media is no longer about fact sharing, it's about advertising. Howver; now that the media is all hyped up, people electing to still cruise are faced with all sorts of headaches. Like I stated in post #227, over 25,000 cruise passengers were negatively effected just last weekend alone. Personally, I prefer smooth travels.

Just look what it has done to the markets.  Now I'm not saying that there is any kind of market manipulation going on by some very rich people who run some major media conglomerations, but if you were in the market to purchase some stock, you're going to be getting some incredible bargains in the coming months, especially in the travel industry.

LOL!!! I agree. My concern isn't so much acquiring COVID-19 as it is undergoing a two-week quarantine because someone else on the ship has. What happened during yesterday's turnover?

See post #227 for a list. All of those passengers were negatively effected just last weekend in the USA, not to mention worldwide over a greater period of time 😞

Yep, one of the few winners is Costco, people are panic buying and their sales are going up. Sadly, the panic is also causing my 401(k) to take a hit. Fortunately, I don't need it yet, but it is frustrating seeing markets tanking over people's fears.

I just dumped 10K into CCL. NCL, and RCL.  It's risky, but I have confidence cruising will bounce back. Might take awhile. For those of you looking for an investment, all of the corporations above give OBC for owning 100 shares of stock CCL and RCL also pay dividends. Stock at a 5 year low right now.

Did you guys see this?? This is actually very consumer friendly on MSC's part. From the USA website, you don't need to book a cruise costing the same or more as your FCC. New FCC will be issued for the balance.

Lets hope msc uk follows suit but nothing as yet

I wonder what happens in the case where a package with flights was bought as the flight actually forms part of the price paid so presumably can't be included in the value of the FCC

I'm not in a  hurry to cancel anything, but can those of you who are dealing with getting the FCC from MSC, can you please let us know the hold times?

Also, I think the site may be wrong. It says that I clearly need to call to get the FCC applied, but I used a TA. I think the site should include that bookings made with a TA should have the TA call, but I want to make sure. I don't want to have my TA call if it really should be me calling (and visa versa).

I would also like to know what MSC will do regarding upgrade fees that were paid using their Upgrade Program.

Our Canadian governemnt (in the past hour)  has followed  suit like the US and said to avoid cruising but its not a travel advisory .....yet.......

I bought Trip insurance, Wonder how that works for this, I have a Cruise from Venice Italy, I cannot even board the ship now per MSC if I even could fly into Italy to get to the cruise............This is a mess for us.

We have flight insurance too, they said "Maybe" on refunds, I really will be turned off to cruising if the insurance is worthless in both cases.

Anyone tried the number for US yet to cancel?  Or is it not active till tomorrow.  We called the regular number this morning and they had no clue this was coming.  Typical MSC, I have great service on board, but what a mess on the outside! 🙂
