Rare ReneeFLL Posted August 30, 2021 #28301 Share Posted August 30, 2021 (edited) Still pruning up (is that even a word for my situation). Not sure when I'll get out but it needs to be soon. I have been in for over 4 hours. 😳 Edited August 30, 2021 by ReneeFLL
Rare ReneeFLL Posted August 31, 2021 #28302 Share Posted August 31, 2021 My girlfriend and I (at least when Mike isn't in the pool with me). It also started to rain but not to bad. 🥴
Rare Ozark_Kid Posted August 31, 2021 #28303 Share Posted August 31, 2021 My oldest daughter and her family made it in this evening just in time for dinner. The big shocker was no one was was interested in plant-based meatballs over cauliflower noodles so off to the Patio! The kids did finish it off with some healthy dessert.
Rare Ozark_Kid Posted August 31, 2021 #28304 Share Posted August 31, 2021 My SIL to some pics around Lakeside. The day started off with some clouds left over from last night’s storm but quickly got sunny.

Coralc Posted August 31, 2021 #28306 Share Posted August 31, 2021 Maybe see if there is a local church or food bank you can donate the the food to. Instead of tossing it out? I wouldn't eat it either, but I would hate to throw much of it away.

I don’t care for Cindi’s but do like Deli News , they have two locations I always go to the one on Preston but the deli in Denver is really good. I know Mrs Maisel on Amazon shows them eating at a old Stage deli. The one in Denver does have a autograph picture of Billy Crystal. I was spoiled. Where I grew up on lower Manhattan there were many delis to choose from. 2nd Ave. Deli which was good, closed it's original location on 10th Street and opened a few others uptown. Pastrami is also my favorite, with a cold Dr. Brown's Cherry or Cream soda. Ooops, in my previous email I meant to say Katz's had a special for "free shipping" not "free delivery". Texas is a bit out of their delivery territory. Edited August 31, 2021 by BonTexasNY
harryfat1 Posted August 31, 2021 #28308 Share Posted August 31, 2021 Continue with day 7 of Disney trip: At any rate, after getting a spot for the Rise of Resistance, it was time for lunch since we are just outside by the lockers and we have 90 minutes before joining the ride. Same spot as before at Hungry Bear by the river. Last day of the same old sandwich from Costco Speaking of Costco, got these dried Mangos from Costco. Tastes pretty good Another advantage of bringing your own lunch (besides the money saving factor) is flexibility on when you want to eat. We can just grab any empty table and plop down any time we like. Whereas if you have to order food from the park, you either have to stand in super long lines or wait for an open time slot on the phone app. See the time on upper left is 12:43? The first available time slot to pick up food is 1:20 to 1:50. So if you want to order something from Hungry Bear at that moment at 12:43, you need to wait around 40 minutes before you can get in line to pick up the food. Works well if you are in line and can order food while you wait in line. Not so well if you have small kids or seniors that must eat ASAP Lots of discussion here daily on t-shirts. Here’s one on Chewie They need more trees/shades in the Star Wars land area. Brutal in the summer heat w/o shades At any rate, our group was called at 1:30. Time to head for the ride again. Elaborate pre ride display. That's the key to Disney's success throughout the years - they don't just wow you with latest technology but they sell you a whole story/plot to the ride so you feel as if you are living it Here’s Rey The fam all excited in the wait area Mask required inside all rides More storm troopers As previously mentioned, this is a top ranked Disney ride on almost every Disney bloggers list. Don’t miss it if you are there. Here’s the YouTube version
harryfat1 Posted August 31, 2021 #28309 Share Posted August 31, 2021 (edited) More Star Wars Land pic – another droid. Looks like a R2 unit Rey was there hanging out and chatting with the guests As the wait time for Millennium Falcon wasn’t too bad, we decided to ride it for the second time. The view from the top as the ride has you going up to second level Edited August 31, 2021 by harryfat1
harryfat1 Posted August 31, 2021 #28310 Share Posted August 31, 2021 OK, enough Star Wars. Time for other rides. Let’s do the classic – Jungle Cruise. They just updated the ride last month for being politically correct in not making the natives to be savages. Also, the ride is generating interest from the buzz of the new summer movie starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt of the same name/theme. View of Adventure land while in queue for the ride Having a good CM on the Jungle cruise makes a difference. We sat way in the back and can barely hear her over the bad quality speaker system. This reminded me back in 2019 when we were in Tokyo Disneyland on the same ride. Except the CM spoke Japanese only and made the local guests laughed. Those of us from outside of Japan had no clue what’s being said so we just sat in the back and chilled out New displays to be less offensive to those that are to sensitive Afterwards as it was next to the Dole Whip, the boys wanted a Dole Whip treat. And then we stayed for the Tiki room since it was next door and it was AC. Not ashamed to say I used the cooling off period and the darkness to have few minutes of snooze time. Felt good afterwards. Love these cool dark shows with AC. Great for afternoon shut eyes. I will skip the Tiki Room video in case you guys fall asleep Then it’s time for some iced coffee at the café on Main Street for the wife and me I think I mentioned this previously, but you can get a cup of iced cold water for free at any café or fast food dining venue at the Disney parks. Not filtered water as from a bottle but can’t beat the price on hot afternoon. The cafe over at Disneyland has no seating like over at CA Adventure so you have to haul your tired buns elsewhere Enjoyed our drinks near the end of Main Street with the piano player entertaining the restaurant diners next door Free Iced Water I liked how the CM wrote Mickey Ears on my name Piano player entertaining the crowd - Disney is always big on live entertainment One thing to carry around is power bank. With all the picture taking and usage of the Disney app, it drains the phone battery quickly so always have a power bank handy to charge the battery whenever you are seated getting recharged yourself

Safe travels on the way back home. I'll miss your Maine posts/pictures! Thanks! Not much to post on right now...we have just been lazy and hanging out at the cute little lake cottage lately. Finally going to get out there today, traveling up to see yet another house for sale couple hours from us...but not holding my breath on this one. Too many red flags already. 😮

In general I love living in Dallas area, but definitely miss the food in New York City, the pizza and the pastrami etc etc, but I need a cold beer with my pastrami . I have been to the second ave deli also.

Luckynana Posted August 31, 2021 #28320 Share Posted August 31, 2021 My observation on everyone's beautiful grandchildren. I must be the only person on this thread without blond grandchildren!! I come from a family of 8 children. Three of my siblings were blond. I became blonde at the age of 18..lol and stayed blonde for most of my life. Jim and I have 3 daughters..not one of them are blonde, nor are any of my grandchildren. Meanwhile, all of my siblings have had at least one blonde child...just my observation.

One of our daughters and our grandsons have been at Lake George for a long weekend, and they were hoping to get into the lake this year. Last year it was way too cold.

For years I have teased our 2 sons we arent their parents, my parents and brother are blondes, Eric is a dirty blonde that has turned to a light brown as he got older but his brother and mother are blondes. Our oldest son is medium brown and our youngest son is very dark brown, almost black hair, like my grandmother. Will be curious to see if our grandchildren will be blondes like most of our family. Wont know for awhile as neither of them plan on having kids anytime soon.
