Live Horizon July 4th. John Heald. We are back!

I fully agree.  Normally our phones stay in the safe while we unplug.  There should be a paper posting of the dinner menu in the display case outside the MDR.  You could old school it with pen and paper instead of the QR code.

Seems there are many of us who board a ship and lock up phones. Hopefully the “word” will make it through to the decision makers. A paper dinner menu in the display case - what a unique idea - and wherever else something needs to be posted - we can read!

I do not want to use my phone for a menu. I dislike doing it in any restaurant. I like paper books and menu!

We go on the pride on Thanksgiving week.

Pride Thanksgiving week for you, we are on the Pride November 28 out of Port of Tampa.

As already stated, there are many of us who do not want to use our phones while cruising. Maybe a separate Thread should be started to see how many feel the same way.

Sounds like forcing everyone to use their phone for everything has overloaded their WiFi system...

…… that’s what I have been wondering, reading and hearing about how bad the WiFi has been on both horizon and vista ships.

In one of John Heald's posts, he mentioned that you didn't need a WiFi package or even the hub app to access the menus and other content through the QR codes. So I'm doubting that there has been a significant increase in people purchasing and using Wi-Fi because of this change.

Thanks for taking us along on your journey for this momentous occasion! I've loved living vicariously through you, some of my friends on the ship (If you meet Mark & Jason from Columbus, OH tell them Misty says HI! - they are likely at Blue Iguana Tequila Bar or Alchemy!), and John Heald's posts on FB. I admit I've gotten a bit teary eyed watching John greeting guests coming into the terminal and onto the ship, seeing the excitement of all of the crew and watching Mardi Gras escort Horizon out to sea. Literal goosebumps! I last cruised to Cuba in April, 2019 and don't have one booked (for now anyway) until October, 2022! I'm dying to cruise though!

Enjoy the rest of your trip...can't wait to read more!

I wonder if they learned/changed anything for the Mardi Gras...

Dinner last night, formal night. Prime Rib with the Caesar salad and Sicilian meatball soup to start.  Mine was delicious.

paul had 2 shrimp cocktails and Caesar salad plus 2 lobster tails and the flat iron steak.  He wasn’t very pleased with the shrimp or lobster. Overcooked and rubbery.  The wait staff was more than accommodating to bring out another entree so no one should leave the dining room dissatisfied.

aorry for the upside down pics.  I have no idea why it’s doing that

Do they have excursions for Amber Cove?  I'm stopping there in 2 months and no excursions listed so far.

Yes, many ranging from a beach day to city tours.  There was also the waterfalls excursion that sounded like fun.  What exactly are you looking for?

Any thoughts on the elevators? I always hear folks complain about the horizons smart elevators

Love the elevators, but I did watch a blog on how to use it prior.  It blows some guests minds when they get in and no buttons 😂

I heard on youtube that the DR was requiring masks?  Can you confirm?

The Amber cove port was requiring face masks.  This is out of Carnival’s control.  We only stayed at the pool area since we have done other excursions in the past.  Once at the pool everyone was unmasked.

Thanks for answering questions!

I’m curious if they are still doing activities in the Oceans Plaza like trivia during the day, crafts, etc?

Also, how about karaoke, comedy shows and non production shows in the main theater like Welcome Aboard, Love & Marriage, Lip Sync Karaoke?

Lastly, is BINGO happening in the same process as before?

Yes!  Trivia and the usual activities in Ocean Plaza.

Have not been to any shows yet, but they do have them in the main theater and comedy in the Limelight
