How Much Do You Have To Gamble To Receive Casino Offers?

My husband plays the tables but with less than $500 the entire cruise. Usually wins. Early cruises, he just handed them cash for buy in, so Carnival didn't know he gambled. Now, he hands them his card to 'check in' and still uses cash. He's never had a casino offer.

I might. (might!) spend $20-$40 on slots per cruise. Lose every penny. Some cruises I don't gamble at all. Sailed on a casino offer for ME last March......FREE room and Drinks on Us while gambling. Only paid taxes & tips.

That can't fit in some algorithm.

Slots players do get more and better offers, it seems, at least with Carnival. That seems to be fairly consistent.

Did this offer get emailed to you or was in your CCL account?  Also do you have to sign up for the Carnival Players Club or are you automatically signed up the first time you use your room card?  Thanks.

This thread is entertaining. My latest offer is $500 Fun Play, $200 obc, free drinks, $100 inside. I have never sailed in an inside and it kind of scares me.
I figure all in an 8 Day on the Dream with taxes, fees, gratuities and insurance would be $805 for 2 people.
I have not sailed Carnival since 2011 and I'm sure I didn't gamble that much back then. I did win $500 one day. Do they still want it back?  LOL
I'm trying to decide if I should take advantage of the offer. My husband is firmly against cruising Carnival again, but he's considering it at that price...it's hard to pass up considering today's prices. What to do? What to do?

Phew. That's quite an attractive offer. Congratulations on getting it. There's no way around getting that incredible offer....But.....But...I don't know if I could handle an inside cabin. I'm used to waking up and seeing the wide open spaces. And I most certainly LOVE waking up, and walking directly to the balcony to see the sunrise and looking out onto the vast unencumbered ocean view . For me, there's something magical about getting up around 6am and walking directly out to the balcony. That affirms my faith, but that's just me.

With all of that said, if your husband warmed up to the notion of you inside cabin deal at that price, I think I'd take it.....maybe. :classic_biggrin:  A tough decision to be sure.

To give you some kind of reference point, we are sailing on the Dream on an 8 day Eastern  Caribbean departing Sept. 24, returning Oct. 2. We have a balcony cabin on deck 8., all in, including gratuities for $1,363.56. I think this is a pretty good deal.....if not,  PLEASE  give me the consideration of not mentioning what a foolish deal this is, in your opinion.

What ever direction you go in, I hope you have a GREAT time. The Dream holds a dear spot in our heart, as we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary on her.

Wow. 50 Years! Congratulations to you both.
I guess I should have mentioned that I could book a higher room catagory for more money, but we have several trips in the works and to convince the husband, this one had to be cheap, hence the inside. 😉
I too love to look out in the morning, but the rest of the day, I never spend time in the room. I should be fine...I think. ha ha

I could book higher catagory, but I have to do this as inexpensively as possible to make a go if it with all our other plans. I mean, could we afford to go higher? Sure. Do I want to? Probably not. Maybe I'll like the dark and quiet of inside. Who knows? I also might change my mind. lol

I'm saying  a casino offer includes balconies if available. You just have to be flexible

I thought I'd have an issue with an inside after our experience on the Grand Princess 2020 Hawaiian hell cruise in an inside.  But did a 10 day Alaskan last month, inside and didn't have any issue.

I kinda like the darkness.  Really.  Best sleep I get and seems to make hubs snoring less.

Take a change, try it.  If you hate it, never do it again.  But if you can live with it, it opens up worlds of cruising opportunities.

Side question to those in the know:  We will be on a cruise soon with our first time having Drinks on Us in the casino. My question is how do the casino workers know that you have the DOU option? Is there a designation on your S&S card or......? I can't find info on the specifics, including what is the limit of # of drinks under DOU? If there is somewhere on the CCL site that explains this, please someone let me know! I hate asking stupid questions, but I just don't know this and can't find answers. Thanks all for your help!

Go into the casino for a sticker the first day. Is it casino only or the entire ship?

Drinks on us is only for the first person on the reservation (the person who got the offer), unless it’s a Premier. If you have three people in a cabin and it was booked on an offer with drinks on us, only one person gets it, just so you know.

To answer your question, the benefit is automatically applied to your Sail & Sign account folio. When you order a drink in the casino, the waiter/waitress writes down your folio number. They then bring you a receipt for $0 that you actually have to sign. It goes on your account statement, too! I once got a six page bill at the end of my cruise and it was 95% $0 drink charges. If this doesn’t happen and you get charged, I guess ask the casino host? I’ve never had that happen, the free drinks have always worked when they were promised. But again, only ONE person on the reservation will get them, not everyone.

I’m 99% sure that the limit is 15 alcoholic drinks per day, just like CHEERS, no limit on coffee, water, soda, milkshakes, etc. The person with free drinks can easily order drinks on behalf of someone else. The waitstaff really don’t care, especially if you tip them well. My mother never got close to 15 alcoholic drinks a day, so she happily ordered my cocktails while I gambled the $1,500 or whatever it took to manually earn DOU.

Pre-Covid (10/19 on Paradise) and Post-Covid (8/21 on Breeze) they attached a card to my S&S card with a chain. Since then (on Valor) there's been no sticker or card. The server can access your folio number on the slot machine which apparently shows DOU in the casino when they run your number. As stated, there's a receipt to sign that shows $0 with space to add a tip. Servers have been in short supply in our past few cruises (October, January and April on Valor). Hoping staffing has increased so servers in the Casino will be easier to find this September.

(BTW - some servers have been accommodating in supplying my DH with drinks though my perk is only DOU for me in the Casino. Might depend on the generosity of tips)

I find that the Drinks on Us at Carnival is not much of a benefit. The service is slow, casinos are crowded, and you need to stay at the same machine or table in order to get your drink. I am lucky if I can get one drink a night. I could never ever get any where near 15 drinks.

I have DoU anywhere on the ship including the casino

Average 200-300 a day on a 7 days cruise, 100-200  daily on longer cruises. Sometimes get interior offers but have been getting more balconies lately and a few suite promotions thrown in on occasion. Never got Elite offers until things started back up after COVID and now get all different categories offered. Would love to go on an Elite but the dates never seem to work out. Average total points at the end of the cruise 10,000-15,000, I have seen people get that in less than 24 hours but I generally have a budget. On my second  or 3rd cruise with princess I had blown through my budget on the 3rd day- didnt set foot in the casino for the rest of the trip. The first bounce back offer I ever got was a five day out of Jacksonville and I only had 1500 points but I spent 3-4 hours a day in casino making very low bets on slots. I think time spent is more important than amount but who knows how they figure it out.
