This Ain't Homer's Odyssey - A Live B2B2B on Odyssey of the Seas (8/22/2021-9/11/2021)

I don't think you said what type of cabin you are in? (sorry if I missed it).

We are Diamond Plus too, so wondering about the "Concierge Club" (still says on the Deck Plans & several agents have said it is not a Suite Lounge, but a Concierge Club, but you know how that goes...) and whether it is now a Suite Lounge etc. We normally get a suite, but they were sold out (and we wanted to book this sailing to coordinate with our X B3B) so we are in a Junior Suite with large balcony, so wondering what Coastal Kitchen is like etc.

I knew I forgot something. 🤣

Our reservations are kind of all over the place.  Our Indy reservation was an Ocean view balcony so that is what we have for the 8/22 sailing.  We have an interior booked 8/28 and an Oceanview 9/5.  We got the opportunity to Royal Up on all 3 sailings, but the only one that was really appealing was the 8/22 cruise.  Hopefully we get one of the suites so I can report back on the lounge.

Thanks for the info.  I don't think I could move from a Grand Suite to an inside for the next cruise....lol, but that is just me.  Hope you get all your bids.  I have only done that once, a few years ago and didn't get it.  If I can do it for ours next year, I will definitely try as we are only doing the 1 cruise.  We usually do B2B's and DH likes to have same cabin, if possible, so hard to bid.  This time we are doing the 3 cruises before on Celebrity and just 1 on Royal, so might be interesting to see if we can move up but right now, there are no suites available but hopefully that will change, closer to the time.

I find it strange that there is hardly any information/reviews/pics about the Odyssey, especially since it is brand new & just had its Inaugural sailing, without much fan fare.

Can hardly wait till you get onboard - we can all live vicariously through you!😁

Cheers,

Canuck

JessyCruises -  regarding you saying that if you get a Suite, you will check out the Lounge....well, "before" you didn't need to be in a Suite to get into the Concierge Club, as you are Diamond Plus.  BUT, if it is now labeled as a "Suite Lounge" then you need to be in a Suite (or Pinnacle) to get in.  I know, during this time of Covid, that Pinnacles are excluded from the "Suite Lounge".  Rumour was Diamond Plus was no longer allowed in Concierge Club but every ship seems to have a different policy, so waiting to see what the "sign" actually says.  We "hope" our sailing next year is more "normal" as in, less Covid protocols (fingers crossed).

It will be interesting for sure!  We just booked whatever cabin was covered by the Casino offer we were using and did not feel like spending extra at the time, thinking that we would have a shot of Royal Up offers because of the limited capacity.  We talked about bidding on the 2nd and 3rd cruises too, but we really do not mind the interior and ocean view cabins so decided to spend the money elsewhere.  The first cruise was worth the shot to a suite because the min bids were pretty low.

I am probably going to  try guest services onboard to see if there are any upgrades available as well.  I know the answer is NORMALLY always no, but apparently there are only 1000 people onboard this week  (8/14) and the 8/22 sailing is expected to be only 600 according to crew members.  It seems like the other ships are ramping up the # of passengers but Odyssey is going down.  They should have TONS of empty cabins so if they are ever going to offer onboard upgrades, this would be the time.

At this point I would sleep in the bunks in the crew quarters if it meant getting onboard.

I have seen a video of someone walking by the lounge and it definitely said Suite Lounge. Does Anthem have a Concierge or a Suite lounge?  That is the only ship I have been on since being D+ and I never even thought to try because we were with 10 other people who were all Gold.

JessyCruises - I thought Anthem had a Concierge Club, but have never been on her, so not sure.  I have not seen any pics/videos of the lounge showing the "name" of it on the Odyssey, so that is why I am curious, but it sounds like it probably will be a Suite Lounge (even though there are way less full suites on this ship than compared to others) so the Suite Lounge will be pretty empty I would think.  Also, haven't seen any pics/videos of Coastal Kitchen, which we will be allowed in as staying in a Junior Suite.  Saw one guy eat in there but he didn't show any of the restaurant in the video - just viewed him at the table, so anxious to see that too.

Yes, we got upgraded to a suite several years ago and that did it - now we can't go back.😉 We got spoiled and now we are used to it - lol.

We did Crown Lofts on a couple of Symphony sailings a few years ago and loved it.  The location is as perfect right around the corner from the Suite Lounge/Coastal Kitchen and the suite was amazing.  The first sailing was just two of us in November and then we had one again when our son sailed with us in March 2019 I think.

Before that the closest I had gotten to the suite life was the Ben & Jerry’s Sweet a few years back 😂

Funny you said that...the upgrade I was referring to....we were in a balcony on Oasis & got a call that we were being upgraded to a Crown Loft Suite and that is what did it for us.  Have been on the Oasis now 4 times, in a CL - haha.  Hard to go back....

Even if we get the Grand Suite this time, I find it hard to believe that it will live up to the Crown Loft.  There is something about the 2 floors that makes it feel extra luxurious 🤣

I’m currently onboard, day 2, and already love this ship.  Our cruise was a balcony freebie from Casino Royale and we were supposed to sail on Independence but was changed in June to Odyssey.  How great was that??    We bid and won an upgrade to a Grand Suite which is wonderful.  There are around 960 passengers on board which makes it easy to get around.  We went to the comedy show last night and loved it.  It was easy to make reservations when we boarded and have something to see every evening.

Thanks for posting!  We are in the exact same situation (casino balcony comp moved from Indy) just a week later.  Hopefully I have your luck with Royal Up! What day did you find out your bid won?

Congrats on the Move Up bid.  Would it be possible to post a pic of your suite at some time?  Also, if you have been to the "Lounge" - is it called "Concierge Club" or "Suite Lounge" on the sign?  How is the Coastal Kitchen?  Do they have a different menu nightly or is it like on the Oasis Class, where they had 2 different menus which they alternate (at least last time we were on, a few years back).  Any info would be appreciated when you have some free time.  Thanks for posting & hope you continue to enjoy your cruise.

We actually got our Royal Up email on Tuesday before our Saturday cruise. Most people heard on Thursday.  The lounge is for suites only and is called  Suites Lounge.  We ate breakfast in Coastal Kitchen today and it was good.  Based on the menus posted on the app, the dinner menu changes every day.

We just boarded yesterday so I have a lot of updates yet.

Thanks for sharing that! I will just have to learn to be patient I guess 🙂. Did everyone get their bids accepted that you know of?

sellwingri - thank you so much for letting me know about the Suite Lounge - now I know that the RCCL agents & the deckplan are incorrect.🙂  Thanks also about the info for Coastal Kitchen.  I will have to see if the app is working for our cruise to see the menus - I think it is too far ahead for next year as the last time I looked, it was unavailable.

Have a great evening onboard.🥂

@CanuckCruizer I just looked up Odyssey just now on Youtube and there is a new video just posted.  It was from a travel agent company so I won't share the link but it is a full 52 minute walkthrough and is really good. It should be easy to find. They show the Coastal Kitchen at around 22 minutes.  Suite lounge is at around 32:30

Thanks for taking us along!  We are booked for an 8 night in Feb.  I’m wondering if anyone can help…I’m trying to figure out for an ocean view balcony, if the bed is by the bathroom or balcony.  For cabin 7524.  Any help is appreciated!!

I just realized you are Canadian Disney Mom! Hope you have a fabulous cruise, we got off yesterday. I met Chris Wong in the casino, and casino host Miha gave us Club Royale baseball hats and Tshirts. Unfortunately I did not do well on slots, but I did see several people hitting jackpots. Hope you have great luck playing.
