Obstructed balconies on deck 6 on Odyssey

Does it look like cabin 7588 is partially obstructed by one of the whatchamacallits that lower the lifeboats? I “upgraded” to this cabin from a virtual inside and it actually cost less. I figured any balcony cabin would be better than an inside...but my virtual balcony wasn’t obstructed 😁

Twangster, we will have Cabin 7604 on Odyssey for the TA in Oct., 2022.  I have been counting cabins forward of the hump also, but if you get a chance to take a picture of it, that would be wonderful, and thanks in advance!

As near as I can figure, 7604 is in this area:

You should have clear unimpeded view straight out.  Looking down you will see the the top of the lifeboat but so does everyone else even on the decks above you.

I have 6622 booked, which is the same as yours but on the opposite side, and have been hunting for photos to get an idea of the obstruction.

If you look at the pic below in conjunction with the diagrams posted above to help you situate your cabin, it looks as though these cabins have very little obstruction as they appear to be above a much smaller lifeboat. Fingers crossed.

Book it quick before someone else gets it! It's a great room. Very little obstruction and plenty of water visible.

I'll get you some pics tomorrow. It's bedtime right now on this side of the pond so I've already shut down my PC where I have them stored.

Pics, as promised. Hope you find them helpful. 😊

These first two were taken when we "met" our cabin on boarding day. If you zoom in on the window, you can see that the only obstruction is a little bit of a small life raft in the bottom left-hand corner. Otherwise, as you can see, it's a perfectly normal balcony cabin.

These next ones are evening shots taken standing on the balcony:

Note that this seating area was rarely used so we were not bothered by any noise, although people sitting in this area or walking past would be able to see you on your balcony if they look up.

Also, the outdoor smoking area on Odyssey is on the other side, so if you find smoke to be an inconvenience you would have no need to be concerned in this location. On the other hand, if you're a smoker, the same cabin on the opposite side of the ship would be very convenient for you.

These last ones were taken on the day we were in Santorini.

Standing at the balcony rail before breakfast watching a Regent ship (if I remember correctly) coming in to anchor:

And back on board in the afternoon. I took this one sitting down on the deck chair to show that you still get a great view even when you're not standing at the rail. That's the same Regent ship. And you can see there are a few people down on the seating area.

And looking over to the left, so you can see that while the life raft is undeniably in your sight line, there's still plenty of gorgeous scenery visible.

I was on Allure across the pier from Odyssey and took this picture of Odyssey from the jogging track.  I think I have identified 6222 properly based on the hump and cabins counting forward from the hump.

I was on Freedom across the slip from Odyssey in Nassau.  As Odyssey pulled out I tried to grab a series of photos looking straight on for each section.  Here is what I think is 6622 if I have counted properly from the hump going forward.

We booked 6624. Saved well over $1,000 compared to regular balconies and no issues with be obstructed. Surprised Royal has updated it non obstructed. They built this ship different. The others have a full sized lifeboat in front of these rooms with the smaller life boat toward the back of the ship.

Yes, 6624 is even less obstructed than 6622, as it's to the right as you look out to sea, so that small life raft on your left is even less obtrusive. However, it's a 3-berth cabin so not always available to parties of two.

You're right: the lifeboat configuration is different on Odyssey in comparison to other Quantum class ships, like Anthem. A good "non-obstructed" obstructed balcony cabin on Anthem is 6650, where the only obstruction is the davit blocking your view to the rear; you have a clear view looking straight out and forwards.

Too late to edit my post to correct the typo in the cabin number (got the two middle digits the wrong way round 🙄).

So the good cabin on Anthem is 6560 and not 6650.

Is 7604 is the obstructed cabin you have been concerned about?  I have not sailed in that one, but that seems like a pretty good assignment for a balcony gty.
Have you seen this you tube from deck seven?  I don’t think they give the cabin number, but it still gives a feel for where the lifeboats and davits sit compared to your balcony floor…much better than those who were assigned deck 6.  As you can see from the other photos in this thread, you should be further from the davits that the youtuber.

Now that I know the location, if it were me, I’m not sure if I’d bother to bid on the cabins with large balconies (you might get one in a worse location…like over that port side smoking deck)

I'm a bit behind reading all the posts on this thread but wanted to chime in to say that I booked a gtd balcony on my Odyssey cruise this past December and was pleasantly surprised to have been given a deck six balcony with no obstruction -- it was way forward past all the tenders.

May I ask what room you were assigned.
