Long Beach Boarding Time

We have a 1:30 check in time for our upcoming cruise.  We have never had it this late.  Wondering from cruiser who have board in Long Beach recently, is the 1:30 time slot strictly enforced?   If we arrive at 12:30 would we be turned away?   I ask because ships are at reduced capacity and wondering if it is really that busy boarding.

I just got off Panorama a few hours ago.  Loved it!!  Last Saturday I had a 1 pm arrival time. (The first was 12 pm).  This week we were less than 50% capacity.  I got off shuttle at 11 am…. At 11:25 I was enjoying a guys burger. (Didn’t even know they opened that early).  At 1:15 cabins were ready, 1:30 my bag arrived.  One of the best cruises I’ve ever been on.

This is good to hear! We sail on the 26th.

I don't know why they have set boarding times. People don't follow them and they don't seem to be enforced. We have a 10:00 AM boarding time in LB later this month and there will be 1000 people in line in front of us if we get there at 10:05.

I will be surprised if this happens - we were on the Miracle out of Long Beach in October.  We had 10:00 - 10:30 Arrival Appointment and arrived pretty close to 10:00.  There was no line at all, check-in was quick and easy - I've never seen that terminal so empty.  We were walking onto the ship by 11 am.

But I have to admit, Galveston is my favorite, they checked our boarding docs at least 4 times before allowing us into the terminal.  They are incredibly organized (at least since cruising has resumed).

Glad to hear you enjoyed your cruise!  Question regarding: disembarkation time…did it really not start until 9:00?  I’m usually the one who doesn’t care what time I leave, but I am actually spending the day at Universal studios so I’d like to exit as soon as possible.

And we had the exact opposite experience at Long Beach. We arrived around 10:00 for our 10:30 check in. The crowds were huge—at least several hundred. We didn’t get on the ship until 11:45.

We were also on Panorama this last week. Had a 1:00 checkin time but arrived at the terminal 11:45 and walked right in. Hardly anyone around and they only asked if we had boarding passes and said to go right in. Checked in without any waits and were told to go immediately to the ship. Went to muster and were eating by 12:15. Announced at 1:00 that cabins were ready and we walked down one floor and our bag was there.

As for disembarkation, it depends a little on when the ship gets in. It was a little earlier this week than last—about 7:30ish at the dock. We had early flight and were told to meet in casino at 8:30 but with nothing else to do after watching docking, we went down there. They were lining up bags as you came in and that was the order you disembarked. A family came in about 8:00 and stood right inside the entrance behind some machines but the person in charge came by later and said “Oh, I didn’t see you before. See all these bags here? Those are people ahead of you so just be so good as to wait here until they are all off”.

Priority people started off at 8:15 and we in early without priority started at 8:25. We never stopped walking except for facial rec and the first bags that had been checked were just coming down.or be lined up. We waited for Lyft about 10 min and were at LAX by 9:25. Very few lines there either and we were able to book an earlier flight. I love traveling during Covid.

The earliest time you can get is 12-1230 they start letting people in the building at 1030 to check all your paper work and they usually start boarding at around 1130.

My appt is for 10:00, so they should be letting people in before 10:30.

I presume that is what happens.

I have almost 20 sailings; I have only been early once.

When I arrived at LB at 12 pm (my check in was 11:30). I was told that they had called all boarding times by 11:30. So you could arrive early and will most likely be let in early. My sailing was around Christmas and NYE. So it was a packed ship.
