What attire do people wear for RC's formal nights?

I wear heeled or wedged flip flops in the dining room and they are fine.  I wouldn’t wear the same kind I wear to the pool but that’s just me.  
 

On topic, wear what you want.  I have seen it all.  The dude who came to the MDR with a basket ball top and bottoms on like he was on a Lakers team did bother me just a bit.  I don’t enjoy seeing arm pit hair when eating at a table with a table cloth.  Hairy legs will be covered under the table, no problem.  
 

DH wears a collared shirt every night with khaki or dress pants. Formal night usually a jacket but he has ditched the tie.  I usually wear a casual dress every night, cocktail dress on formal night.  We don’t dress to the nines anymore but look appropriate for the venue.  If we do the Dining Package we dress the same pretty much every night and DH leaves the jacket at home.

Same way I see it.  If you want a fancy pic, dress up.  

 

Just of the Ovation Alaska cruise.   Mixed dress.  Fancy dressed lined up for pics.  3rd cruise since start up.  What I see is some is less dress up like prom or above.  Formal nights have changed since the 1990's.  

In the 90's I wore a suit and tie.  2000's no tie. 2010's no suit jacket.  Now I wear a nice pair of jeans and a collared shirt.  The table next to us, a suit and a nice formal dress.  We all enjoyed our time together.

In July I’ll be on the Harmony. For the 1st formal nigh, my toddler will be in a tux, I’ll be in a cocktail dress, and dh will be in a suit. We are also planning on taking nice family photos.  On the second formal night, I’ll be in a nice church dress, dh in dress shirt/slacks, and toddler probably in a button down shirt with khakis.

On formal nights you'll see everything from full on tuxes and evening gowns to suits, muumuus, khakis, jeans,  shorts,  golf shirts, tee shirts, and the list goes on. Personal preference really.

And here we go with the folks who think the rules are not meant for them. Knowingly violating the dress code and you reply with "I'm not doing anything wrong". I'm sure if someone on Royal did remind you of the rules you'd probably be asking for their manager. 🙄

I would love for one person to post the written “Code” of dress that actually say no shorts, etc. Not a “suggested” dress attire but a “code” that must be followed!

This is what is actually on the website.  It says shorts are welcome for breakfast and lunch.

Blah blah blah.  No where does it say no shorts, so until they change that I’ll continue to wear shorts.   
The head waiter actually complimented my formal night attire on my last cruise on Royal in feb.

Everyone needs to understand that the dress code, as written, requires multiple advanced degrees and a least three competent dress code specialist attorneys to interpret. 
 

So, whatever is written can’t be understood by most Royal Caribbean Cruisers.

my wife had extensive foot surgery and i asked the dr. his thoughts on women wearing flip flops all of the time...His response was hilarious---he said he loved women wearing them because it has made him a   millionaire......lol

I've heard that from other podiatrists and orthopedists. Flip flops, especially flat ones aren't very good for your feet.  I have a high arch and instep so I have to either wear shoes with arch supports or go barefoot.  If I try to wear flip flops or totally flat shoes with no support, I get a cramp in my foot/arch.   I wear Merrell or Skecher sandals or really good athletic shoes on cruises.  I have nice leather sandals that I wear on formal nights.  I also have a pair of ballerina type slippers that have arch supports in them.

Reefs are a good flip flop as they have the support and other advantages 

They are all I wear for a sandal/flip flop   And sketchers sneakers
