How many casino points earn a free cruise?

DH and I cruise both Princess and HAL. I play in the casino most every evening. I have never received an offer from either cruise line. Is there something I'm not doing that I should be doing? We've done nearly 20 cruises total but nothing! Thanks.

We gamble 2-3 hours a night on board and always get an offer. If you just drop in for 30 minutes before a show that is not going to generate a lot of offers

Hate to say this but anyone who said they only spent $20 and got an offer----

I wouldn't believe them.

Actually, it is true. I spent $20 on the slots and my DH spent $30.  I got an offer on a deeply discounted room. This was last year. So, it does happen. OBC $99.  My CVP said she had never seen an offer like that.  You never know.

Usually the free room offer is for one cruise? Has anyone received multiple offers ? More than 3 free cruises of 20 days or less?

two ways to get an offer.

1.  receive a "come back and play" offer that you receive on the last full day on the cruise.  It is based on your points earned during the cruise.  If both people in the room played enough, both will receive an offer.  It is good for one cruise only and must be taken with 7 months of getting off the ship.

2.  you will receive email or postcard offers - these will all vary.  Some will be an offer for a cruise, or a choice of several cruises that they specify.  Or you will get an offer that says in the small print that you can book up to 3 cruises, but any casino free play money is only good on the lst cruise

Pac sorry, I didn't believe.  Like your CVP, I never saw that before.

You were in the right place, right time and the right person to have this done.

You were lucky.

Well, we didn’t get to use it, because we already had cruises planned.  Maybe some other day!  😉

I currently have 5 comped cruises booked with Princess. Two 20 day, two 14 day and 1 10 day. Most of the offers I received were 20 days or less, some were fewer days. Most of them, I'm able to book up to 3 times (per offer). I haven't received an offer with Princess Plus included in a while. I usually book w/o Plus then call later and add it on. Regarding points, there is no rhyme or reason as far as what I get. I was on one cruise b2b in May and earned over 20k the first week, then settled down the second week and "only" got about 9k. My offer was ridiculously small for the number of points - balcony, no plus, $400 free play. I didn't book the offer.

I cruise Royal Caribbean a lot. Their casino rules for points needed for a free cruise are much clearer and actually posted at the host desk. I currently have 16 cruises booked with them. I was able to get to Diamond Plus with them within about a year (I travel solo). I will be Pinnacle (top ship status) later this year (btw, I have been Elite with Princess for several years). I had one Royal Caribbean cruise before the pandemic and now have 32 past cruises - I haven't paid for any of them other than what I spend gambling. Too bad Princess casino doesn't listen...

It’s a mystery, no one really knows.

We have always said that. Try to figure out when they provide casino discount on a cruise and then you might have an answer to who gets free passage.

Obviously as it is very very rare for anyone from Oz to get a free offer  They must think that that Northern American people like to gamble more   which is quite incorrect....lol

We play a little bit in the casino (under $1000). The end of cruise offers haven’t been great (discount, free play), but I do click through on the emails, and got a great deal for an Alaska cruise this summer - was $100 each for inside, was able to book a minisuite for a little over $200 each (plus port fees, taxes). Came out just over CAD$1000 for a minisuite for 10 days.  That’s $50 pppd - can’t beat that.

LOL! I DO keep a list including what each one cost - port charge/tax and for Princess, the deposit - and what I get - free play, OBC, etc. They're also in my calendar on my phone - ports and times. I often have to look at the phone in the morning to figure out where I am on any particular day. I know if I look up and see a fan, I'm home. I'm good through April next year 😉

The offers seem to be getting chintzier for us with every passing cruise. We were/are Platinum but hadn't sailed Princess since 2019 (been sailing Celebrity with their worthless Blue Chip Club). Then, starting last December we have sailed Princess on three separate 7-day cruises. DW and I both play WPT Heads Up Hold 'em, $35 each per hand, with tiny contributions to the slots. On all three cruises we spent roughly the same amount of time in the casino - several hours per day.

Cruise #1, Regal, December 2022 - One day a bottle of wine delivered to the room compliments of the casino, another night chocolate covered strawberries. End of the cruise, free balcony offer and $600 free play.

Cruise #2, Ruby, February 2023 - No wine. No strawberries. End of the cruise, free inside cabin offer and $600 free play.

Cruise #3, Regal, April 2023 - No wine. No strawberries. No cabin offer and $550 free play.

Heading to Alaska next week for a 7-day cruise on the Sapphire. Based on the trend, not expecting much.

Most of the time, the free wine/ chocolate/ strawberries/ and other goodies are given when you book vip/ultimate vip/prestige offers. Outside of that, they usually don't. Unless you are racking up a lot of points/theo. The offers that they offer at the end of the cruises are usually the worst. Instead of my usual 1.5-4k freeplay + princess plus + mini suite, I am only given 600-1k freeplay with princess plus+  balcony.

  • 2 months later...

Well if I just got a free inside cabin with no free play I would be skipping up and down the lido deck. I know I played 30 dollars on carnival never got anything. But I did win 850. LoL. But does the multi liners think out of all the cruiselines maybe princess is the loosest with the offers? I notice one poster thought celebrity was worthless.
