mafig Posted December 15, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2022 Easter in 2023 will be on April 9. Which week do you think will have the most kids? April 2 - 9 ? or April 9 - 16?
Rare www3traveler Posted December 15, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2022 Probably the 9th to the 16th.

Rare cruiseny4life Posted December 15, 2022 #6 Share Posted December 15, 2022 The charter school I used to work for has the week after off, which means the city school district will have the week before off. @ColeThorntonis correct. 🙂
Rare New2cruise2022 Posted December 15, 2022 #7 Share Posted December 15, 2022 If you are trying to avoid children, I see a Vibe pass in your future.
AwesomO Posted December 15, 2022 #8 Share Posted December 15, 2022 I'd check the school schedule for the schools closest to the port you're looking at and then guess there would likely be at least slightly more kids on that cruise.
tokidoki Posted December 16, 2022 #9 Share Posted December 16, 2022 In NYC, public schools r closed April 6, (Passover), till April 14.
J0Y0US Posted December 16, 2022 #10 Share Posted December 16, 2022 Don't connect with Easter and don't go during spring break time. Better yet go look at Virgin or a 9+ night cruise that eliminates kids as parents don't want them out multiple weeks.
Markanddonna Posted December 16, 2022 #11 Share Posted December 16, 2022 It's a toss up. Catholic schools often have break after Easter while public schools go before. Either week will have lots of kids on cruises seven days or less.
Sigyn Posted December 16, 2022 #12 Share Posted December 16, 2022 (edited) My son goes to Catholic school and they have the week of April 2-9 off, for whatever that's worth. I have a friend who worked in customer service in the cruise industry for two decades and she said spring break is March and April - any weeks in those months are full of kids, teenagers and college students and best avoided unless you want chaos. She said sometimes she even found poop in the hallways of the ships. Edited December 16, 2022 by njsmom
SeaShark Posted December 16, 2022 #13 Share Posted December 16, 2022 If it is really a big concern and you're restricted to travelling during that time, it just might be a good time to experience Virgin Cruises.

mafig Posted December 16, 2022 Author #15 Share Posted December 16, 2022 Last year I went during Easter-time on Joy and it was chaos. However, Escape had just had its "accident" and some people were transferred to our sailing. One year I went during Easter time on Celebrity....mainly because the rates were great, and it was a brand new ship (at the time). I figured we'd just put up with the kids. However, there were less than 30 kids total on the cruise. I realize this was Celebrity, though. One thing I didn't mention was the ship I'm considering is Dawn. It's old, and doesn't have a lot of the activities that would attract kids. Do you think this would make a difference?
zzdoug Posted December 16, 2022 #16 Share Posted December 16, 2022 Also cruises > 9 days are unlikely to have many children.
Melody7 Posted December 16, 2022 #17 Share Posted December 16, 2022 I am a high school teacher and always cruise over spring break...because I get the same break as the kids! I discovered the Vibe years ago as a way to avoid the crowds during my spring break cruises. It's perfect and worth the extra $$$.

I haven't sailed on the smaller ships. Perhaps the smaller ships don't draw as much of the family crowd since they don't have some of the "bells and whistles" that the larger ships do (water slides, laser tag, ropes courses, etc.)?

dbrown84 Posted December 16, 2022 #22 Share Posted December 16, 2022 I'm sailing on the Escape on 4/1. I guess I'll just have to spend most of my free time in the casino to avoid the kids. Like I need an excuse :)

Rare YVRteacher Posted December 16, 2022 #24 Share Posted December 16, 2022 If it helps, my friend was just on the Bliss for American Thanksgiving week. She said there were 1400 kids on board and she also said there was never an issue or a concern. She is an elementary school principal.
vacation44 Posted December 17, 2022 #25 Share Posted December 17, 2022 We sailed on the Escape in 2015 during Christmas and New Years week and there were roughly 2000 kids on board. We were able to escape to the Vibe, but the rest of the ship was crazy.
