Very efficient, for us anyway. We had the first embarkation time so we were in the right slot for group A, there were people in a “holding pen”. They also had a special lane for Elite and Platinum which is first for us with Princess in Southampton. We got through extremely quickly but there were still folks sitting with coffee when  we got onboard.😀

Well we got onboard and headed to try to book Catch only to find Sabbatinis still there in its original space.

 

Catch on deck 7 is just Cafe Sur La Mer with a makeover. They have lots of fancy seafood plates and 3d crabs. We managed to get a table but just and no more. They are limiting bookings this week as a soft launch trial, fair enough it lets the staff find their way round the menu.

 

The central bar is still there but they have put in many more tables than they had with Sur Mer.

 

Went to Alfredo’s for lunch which was lovely as ever. The wine on the plus package was however poor in my opinion, tasted like water. We tried a couple of different ones each and none were very much better. Generic wines with no indication of what they are other than the grape variety. I like decent wines so we have upgraded to premier (let’s hope it is better). The plus wines might suit some people perfectly well but they were not for me.

I believe you can pay the difference in drinks plus gratuity and we intend doing that with the wines. The spirits and liqueurs will fall into the Plus price.

Can your order Premium wines in Alfredos?...do they have a wine list?

That's what we do. The plus wines are OK for the odd glass during the day,  but we upgrade to, fir example, the Silverado, during the evening and with meals. Cheaper than upgrading to Premium.

Yes. They have a plus section and a premium section with a list of choices (probably not them all but a decent selection).

 

I didn’t see a full wine list but then I didn’t ask for it.

We got it at a decent price Wozz and by the time we took off the cost of the 2 meals it was probably better for us. Won’t work that way for everyone obviously.

 

We also factored in that the ship is so busy, so the reserved seats are worth something to me.

Yes it does. Total waste of space.

Well we are still in Southampton and not likely to leave until 6.30 at the earliest. Problems with getting supplies onboard from the information in the Captains announcement.

 

And yes they are short of supplies. I couldn’t even get a fresh orange and lemonade! No fresh orange and only split cans of lemonade. Several beers not available etc. hopefully this will be resolved today.

 

The ship is overcrowded so a struggle to get seats and even more of a struggle to get service. Bars 3 people deep in a queue and few ta Le servers around.

 

We tried to use the app and it accepted the drinks order, prepared then we waited 40 minutes and it said “delivered” but the drinks were not. It did however reduce our 15 drinks per day by the undelivered drinks. There is a counter now for “ redeemed” drinks, I haven’t seen that before.

 

Really nor impressed so far but just day1 after a refit. Let’s see what the rest of the cruise brings.

I said decent price not special. They came round the tables trying to get folks to upgrade. I had priced it before coming away with my Princess cruise specialist and it was much more than I was quoted onboard today. So we jumped at it after drinking the watery wine!

I hope they get these issues ironed out, both for your sake AND ours!  We are on the next sailing!
